Calli Learns How a Kazoo Works | Hololive EN Fan Animation

- Sometimes instruments can be difficult to figure out. And happy (very late) 1st Anniversary of Hololive EN!
Another fun project with "limited expression", this time using a piece of audio from the Virtual UA-camr, Mori Calliope. Sadly due to some IRL issues, I couldn't finish it in time, and I missed the one-year anniversary of Hololive EN, which sucks. But, better late than never, or unfinished. Plus, I was originally working on a differnet project before this one, but thanks to a few technical challenges, I decided to delay that one until a later date.
As I mentioned before, I'm not the most avid watcher of Calli's content (nor the rest of Hololive-EN), but I have enjoyed what I have seen, especially clips such as this one. This is just a fan animation.

While I do have plans to create at least one more of these Hololive animations in the future, if anyone knows any other good moments/clips (or I just stumble across any), I'll definitely consider animating them. :)

This is one of my favorite Calli moments. It's not often you get to see a grown woman learn how to use a children's toy for the first time in her life.

@@iaincowell9747 i would argue that a kazoo has the same status of a melodica.. they are instruments but at the same time marketed as "toys", i even got a free kazoo from a childrens book for no reason back in ze days, and no the book is not a music book it was a book wherein the pages are puuzzles
i would say it would depend on the quality of the said item

I like to imagine Calli just has a shoebox full of kazoos from various manufacturers, and she just tossed them all in there when they didn't "work".

This comment reminded me of Bloo from Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends. He had a massive drawer filled with the “paddle-and-ball-on-string” toy, but he called them all “broken” because he was terrible and couldn’t get the ball to bounce

@@tridiots3681 I was actually thinking about weirder instruments like the bassoon, the bagpipe, the pan flute, or even just the harmonica. And those are only regular instruments, I'm not even including the real weird ones 🙃.

This audio is of a grown-ass woman with huge hit singles learning how a fucking kazoo works and I love it so much it outstrips my inherent backseat musician.
Ironically you got the kazoo backwards: the mouthpiece is the wide end. Also Calli plays it exactly the same way around when chat asks if she has it backwards.
This was always one of my favorite Calli moments. Thanks for animating it so wonderfully.

This was animated so well. The expressions on smol Cali perfectly matched the crazy mood swings that the reaper is known for. You've got a virtual gold mine of Holomyth shenanigans worth animating, if you choose to go that route.
Every single soul with a kazoo has experienced this moment.

This is magical and must have taken a ton of effort. You're really good at capturing her expressions with very little.
This is absolutely not a rag, but the expression animation makes me think of animations involving LEGO minifigures. Perhaps just the simplicity and cartoonishness.

well tbf, the kazoo is not a typical music instrument, and I'm sure a lot of musicians out there also don't, because it's different.

My parents went on a trip last week and brought back a kazoo as a souvenir for my sister, this video was the reason I knew to tell them to hum into it when they couldn’t figure it out.
This is extremely well animated. The setup, the cuts, the expressiveness of the (somewhat limited) smol model. Top-notch stuff

That, "I got two of them!" animation was slick as ****. I always appreciate when animators are able to express in motion, awesome work.
I initially had zero interest in HoloEN when they first debuted. None. I didn't see their appeal for some reason and I felt like they lacked the inherent charm of the Japanese-speaking girls.
But the _very moment_ she exasperatedly shouted "I ordered another kazoo!" changed my F-wording mind. I needed to know more about this edgy, adorable, impossibly-talented walking disaster. And by the time I caught her "My Dad is the Queen of All Vtubers" stream, I was so far down the rabbit hole that I grabbed a shovel and helped with construction.
Thanks for beautifully animating this legendary Calli moment.

This is a great animation, but for future reference people normally hum into the wider end of the kazoo.
Too bad you animated the Kazoo the wrong way. You take the bigger part into your mouth and hum. Not the smaller one. Other than that your animation is nice.
To be fair to her she's not the only person to ever not know about how to use a kazoo. I was in the pub and a gang of my friends were all clamouring over a kazoo and not knowing what to do with it, they were all shouting suggestions to each other and fumbling about so while all the shouting was going on I walked over to the guy with the kazoo and just said in his ear "hum, don't blow" which could have been creepy out of context but he seemed to get the idea.

I remember this was probably the first clip of Calli I ever saw. At first I thought she was kinda cringe, but then I enjoyed her crazy eyes when she was playing the kazoo.
