That’s one in a row for you Mike. Nice fix.
I'm usually going backwards :)
The tieback diode on the high power board was put there to prevent damage to driver transistor from inductive feedback just (like the snubber diodes on flipper coils) , When you send a pulse of 50 volt power through the playfield magnet by tying to ground, than switch it off the coils magnetic field collapses and it induces a pulse of high voltage back through the circut. if that diode was not there to snub that pulse of induced current it would feedback into the driver transister and fry it. As we allready know if that diode is shorted it conduct's current in both directions and will blow the fuse everytime that magnet is turned on.
Cool! Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense!
Excellent work, Mike! Great diagnostic demo. And good tip on the three coil fuses for protecting the playfield from being damaged from locked on coils. I’ve seen that happen before. Yuck!
Thanks Leebo, hope y'all are keeping well!
@@pinballshenanigans indeed! Keepin’ the pinballs rolling, one game at a time.
@@LeebosPinball Nice! I'm familiar with that program :)
I was very attracted to this magnetic video and walkthrough… I am positive I’ll be able to force my way through this repair now.. I have absolutely nothing negative or repulsive to say about this video .. 😁 🧲
Haha, I see you have a magnetic personality :)
