I always watch your videos as a quadriplegic myself. You are much braver than I am making videos. Some things that I can offer as advice is Baclofen for muscle spasms. I have a little concern about your bed if you have a good mattress to avoid pressure at night. I have a low air loss pressure mattress and they are really good. I know you can't really help closing those Hoyer legs but it is dangerous moving with them like that. I don't know about your bathroom routine but getting a suprapubic catheter and a colostomy bag were two of the best decisions I ever made in my life. I wish I would've did it when I was much younger. Whatever you can do avoid pressure ulcers at all cost. Getting a colostomy bag for me and the catheter eliminated much of the skin problems I had. Keep making the videos I will keep watching.
Hey Zack, I have to agree with one of these comments. He did lower you too fast , the criss-cross should be safer for you and pulling on the back of the sling to get it out from under you was dangerous. That should be a slow process so that your body doesn't jump like that.
Help is on the way Zack. Doing these videos is enormously helpful. Unless a family member, we had no idea what day to day looks like. Something missing is….everything should be voice activated. Alexa…I fell, lower the chair's slantboard . Alexa says….klutz, got it--Be Right There. Wheelchairs get off too easy. They could perform. Transformer toys were early 80's. Hey wheelchair….think out of the box.
I enjoyed watching your channel. You are a very handsome man with an awesome spirit. I did see on UA-cam this man with severe Parkinson. He was prescribed a cannabis oil under his tongue . He severe tremors stopped. Amazing results.
Although I have my concerns about your diagnosis as a C4. I am also quadriplegic but I am a C5 and have much less use of my fingers than you do regardless of that I see you have obtained funds to be able to drive, have a quad joystick and expensive wheelchair, maybe you should look into what is called a barrier free lift it has a track in the ceiling with a motor that lowers the cable down and you can travel from room to room like from the bed to the shower then out to the living room they are absolutely game changers, nice videos by the way.
He needs to be retrained on correct placement of lifting sling up way to high and is to be crisscrossed under the legs, should be a two person transfer for safety was let down way to fast.
Just out of curiosity, is this something you work with/have training on? Is it typically supposed to be a two-person execution? Wondering bc I’m thinking of the individuals that are only afforded one caretaker via Medicare/insurance or only have one companion to assist. I’m guessing his wife is working or otherwise unavailable. Genuinely curious bc I don’t have first-hand knowledge of how this all usually works/should be conducted. TIA
i, as a tetra myself, do it with only with one person too. but the sling should be x crossed for safety.... but maybe he prefers otherwise @@cantthinkofone6995
That type of sling does not crisscross, It’s the same type of sling I use. I use a different method to pull the sling out from under me. My Aid will use the loops to pull the alpha under me. Although, I can lift my butt a little bit by bearing my elbows on my armrest. I am one level higher than you.
Hello Zack, My name is Ben from New Jersey. I have seen you on UA-cam in the past actually and I actually have autism. Are you familiar with people with autism? Have you been to New Jersey? I know your story you been paralyzed for 13 years. I like to talk to you in Facebook and it’s my favorite. Talk to you soon.
