The second he realized Callum was gonna walk away, everything clicked into place. That scene was so powerful and perfect. I loved Callum finally standing up for himself and pointing out that he is going through rough times as well. He has responsibilities and priorities and it's not fair that everything is about Ben. Him pointing out that Ben should be thinking of Callum the same way Callum is thinking about him was heartbreaking.
Some people were complaining about Ben's actions yesterday, but that served as the catalyst for today's breakthrough. It led to Callum breaking down and giving Ben a few home truths, and rightly so. Ben's self destruction is hurting everyone around him, Callum in particular. This is EXACTLY what Ben needed to know. "What about ME?!?" And yes, Callum did not walk away because he loves Ben and ultimately wants him to lead a better life. And the fact that Ben was stressing at the moment Callum was about to end things and leave him spoke volumes. Amazing scene. Tony and Max are star performers. Ballum give me life, I swear!!! They blend beautifully. Ying and Yang.

At the end of the day, we all know Callum doesn't mean it when he said he can't do this anymore. Just look at his reaction after Ben's breakdown. He still run back to Ben and be there for him. That's alot of commitment for someone who has been treated badly (internationally or unintentionally) on several occasions. Can I also just say Tony Clay is so gorgeous? He's so beautiful, I can stare at his face forever.
I completely agree. Max and Tony are some of the best actors I’ve seen. It amazes me this is from a soap. I’m from the US, and I can guarantee you’d never get a scene like this in one of the soaps made here. These are 2 incredible actors!

I’m glad callum got that out. He needed to let Ben know he’s not going to take that anymore and that he deserves better. He’s been there from the start doing everything he can to help Ben through it. At least now Ben realises, and that reaction wow 🥺 the fact he was having a near panic attack at the thought of callum walking away from him like that. You could tell he was actually so sorry. And he’s allowed to struggle but hopefully this will stop him being so self destructive.
I love Ben but he's been completely selfish and shitty to Callum for a while now. He didn't even visit Callum in the hospital after he'd been rescued. All the recent yelling at Callum lately has hurt to see.
Tranquil Rabies I completely agree, but we have to try and put ourselves in his shoes too. He has had a drastic life change and he’s struggling so much to keep up with it. Something I noticed, Ben actually makes an effort to try and decipher what Callum is saying. With other people, Ben either just dismisses them or he half pays attention. With Callum, it's full attention. He asks him to repeat what he said, he reads his lips, he watches him, etc. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I love them so much and in this essay I will
Thank you, they didn’t stop it there, did they😳 Mooore! Feel sorry for Ben, but that outbreak from Callum was the best thing that could have happened. Damn!! I really am rubbish when it comes to human emotions. I was honestly annoyed with Ben yesterday, not I’m just heartbroken for his pain. My heart hurt for Callum’s breakdown and then Ben apologising. Omg guys 😭 just say I love you, kiss and then make extremely passionate love because ... well because you love each other and you are in the moment. In all seriousness I wish it was plain sailing for Ben and Callum, after all of the drama I just want them to get married and have cute storylines Also “Just because I’m a bit nice, doesn’t give you right to walk all over me” that hit me hard
My soul is hurting. This really needed to happen though. So proud of Callum right now. Also Ben breaking down broke me. While his actions in yesterday's episode were wrong, I feel so bad for him here - he seems genuinely sorry.
Once upon a time, Ben said “I see you, and you see me.” This scene communicates it all so well. Callum sees that this is acting out, Ben sees that he has pushed him to the point Callum, always fighting for them, is ready to give it all up. You can see Ben see himself through Callum’s eyes in that moment and it brings him to tears of shame. But most importantly, Callum sees Ben’s breakdown for what it truly is, that he’s gotten through to him, and so comforts him, knowing that they’ve seen each other as always.
WOW. 🥺🥺💔 Callum REALLY let Ben have it. 😳 ITS ABOUT TIME someone said this to him! This was painful....It literally hurt my heart to watch, just like their breakup in December. “WHAT ABOUT ME?!?!?!” 🥺👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Callum calling Ben out on his behavior, THAT was desperately needed because Callum deserves just as much happiness, love and respect and as Ben does, and he should never have to compromise what’s important to him. It makes total sense that Callum would reach his breaking point soon, he’s only human and can only take so much. He may be the sweetest guy, but he’s not stupid and will always stand up for himself. I loved that this episode was Callum-focused more, he is a very strong character who deserves the attention. 💕

Ben was an ass for that greeting and i’m glad Callum defended himself because Callum is his own person with feelings, potential and needs. He can’t just keep letting Ben walk all over him, like he’s nothing. And I know Ben isn’t hurting Callum on purpose but he really needs to put down his weapons and just let Callum and the people around him in.

Can’t get over how excellent these two are at acting out their parts. 🏆. They really put their hearts into it. Sometimes it takes days before we can see them together on screen, but they make it worth the wait. I usually watch their scenes more than once.
I had to watch this again. Even though Callum is pissed at to hell at Ben and wants to walk out the door forever, he comes over to Ben and hugs him when he's crying and weak. At that point, you can see Callum's reaction to Ben is the same as Jack Twist's reaction to Ennis DeMar in Brokeback Mountain during their fight when Jack says, "I wish I knew how to quit you."

OKAY the fact that tony clay doesn't get more story Iines is beyond me... he's an amazing Actor and deserves a lot more than he gets and this scene proves that he's amazing at what he does come on EE give Callum a new story line we need more of him 😭
I don't think those in charge at EE value Tony Clay the way they do some other actors. He gets far fewer stories and scenes than some of the children even. He has proved he can work well with other characters, and IMO is far better than some of the established names who seem to have been there for ever.
@Alan Giles he is an amazing actor and does deserve more but EE bosses do value him... why do u think they chose him for the ballum story line and the coming out story line Tony clay has his own way of bringing the character to life he's the best person for Callum and EE bosses value all of their actors the same way and take Jack for example he's been on eastenders for AGES and he hasn't gotten a storyline in ages
I have watced many times this scene and my tears always rolling on its really emotional. I remember all the troubles on Ballum relationship and how they could solves for stand together. Thank for keep them alive.
Gosh, Ben at the end! He was so distressed, & that was great acting from Max Bowden. He's brilliant as Ben in every mood! Ben had been an idiot, it was kind of immature, but he was sorry as we clearly saw! The sound was obviously overwhelming for him. I love the way Callum cradles his hands around Ben's head! :-)
He didn't have a problem sleeping with a mitchell and marrying the other. his daughters mother is literally a mitchell, I just can't take it with jack, he's a hypocrite. Also his talk with Ben I was finally someone is trying to make Ben see since but then what he said to callum. I was on this rubbish again.

lesley mawhinney respectfully, I have to disagree with you on this scene being the appropriate time for Ben to say “I love you”. It was not the time. Ben needed time to not only hear what Callum said, but to also think about and process that. If he had said “I love you” during this scene, it would’ve come out of desperation as if Ben was just trying to keep Callum around. Ben needed the time after hearing Callum’s “riot act“ to think about what is important to him and to finally break down all of those walls.
This is what they both needed. Callum needed to say it and Ben needed to here it. It’s a good thing and it’ll be a big wake up call for Ben that he really does need help.

Besides, Jack has no right to tell anyone about being in a relationship with a Mitchell. If you recall or even watched the show long enough to know what I mean. He’s dated two of the Mitchell women. Something I noticed, Ben actually makes an effort to try and decipher what Callum is saying. With other people, Ben either just dismisses them or he half pays attention. With Callum, it's full attention. He asks him to repeat what he said, he reads his lips, he watches him, etc. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I love them so much and in this essay I will

Damn!! I really am rubbish when it comes to human emotions. I was honestly annoyed with Ben yesterday, not I’m just heartbroken for his pain. My heart hurt for Callum’s breakdown and then Ben apologising.

Oh my- The acting was AMAZING! I saw max’s lisoation date 😂 It was great
Once upon a time, Ben said “I see you, and you see me.” This scene communicates it all so well. Callum sees that this is acting out, Ben sees that he has pushed him to the point Callum, always fighting for them, is ready to give it all up. You can see Ben see himself through Callum’s eyes in that moment and it brings him to tears of shame. But most importantly, Callum sees Ben’s breakdown for what it truly is, that he’s gotten through to him, and so comforts him, knowing that they’ve seen each other as always.

It makes total sense that Callum would reach his breaking point soon, he’s only human and can only take so much. He may be the sweetest guy, but he’s not stupid and will always stand up for himself. I loved that this episode was Callum-focused more, he is a very strong character who deserves the attention. 💕

Can’t get over how excellent these two are at acting out their parts. 🏆. They really put their hearts into it. Sometimes it takes days before we can see them together on screen, but they make it worth the wait. I usually watch their scenes more than once.
I had to watch this again. Even though Callum is pissed at to hell at Ben and wants to walk out the door forever, he comes over to Ben and hugs him when he's crying and weak. At that point, you can see Callum's reaction to Ben is the same as Jack Twist's reaction to Ennis DeMar in Brokeback Mountain during their fight when Jack says, "I wish I knew how to quit you."
Phenomenal acting by both, and a great touch to add the hearing/loss of hearing from their perspectives it made the scene emotionally heavier.

OKAY the fact that tony clay doesn't get more story Iines is beyond me... he's an amazing Actor and deserves a lot more than he gets and this scene proves that he's amazing at what he does come on EE give Callum a new story line we need more of him 😭

I don't think those in charge at EE value Tony Clay the way they do some other actors. He gets far fewer stories and scenes than some of the children even. He has proved he can work well with other characters, and IMO is far better than some of the established names who seem to have been there for ever.
@Alan Giles he is an amazing actor and does deserve more but EE bosses do value him... why do u think they chose him for the ballum story line and the coming out story line Tony clay has his own way of bringing the character to life he's the best person for Callum and EE bosses value all of their actors the same way and take Jack for example he's been on eastenders for AGES and he hasn't gotten a storyline in ages
I have watced many times this scene and my tears always rolling on its really emotional. I remember all the troubles on Ballum relationship and how they could solves for stand together. Thank for keep them alive.

Gosh, Ben at the end! He was so distressed, & that was great acting from Max Bowden. He's brilliant as Ben in every mood! Ben had been an idiot, it was kind of immature, but he was sorry as we clearly saw! The sound was obviously overwhelming for him. I love the way Callum cradles his hands around Ben's head! :-)

lesley mawhinney respectfully, I have to disagree with you on this scene being the appropriate time for Ben to say “I love you”. It was not the time. Ben needed time to not only hear what Callum said, but to also think about and process that. If he had said “I love you” during this scene, it would’ve come out of desperation as if Ben was just trying to keep Callum around. Ben needed the time after hearing Callum’s “riot act“ to think about what is important to him and to finally break down all of those walls.
This is what they both needed. Callum needed to say it and Ben needed to here it. It’s a good thing and it’ll be a big wake up call for Ben that he really does need help.

It’s for Callum to decide alone and make. Whether Ben is deserving of his love to carry on or not.
Only he knows Ben like no one else. Only he can break down Ben’s wall. Which we all know that Callum’s opinion and love truly matters to him. And as you see in each episodes his walls is coming down brick by brick for Callum.
Besides, Jack has no right to tell anyone about being in a relationship with a Mitchell. If you recall or even watched the show long enough to know what I mean.
He’s dated two of the Mitchell women. So yea, his opinion carries little to no weight IMO.
