This has nothing to do with efficiency, and everything to do with stopping us from driving at all. 15 minute cities and locked into small spaces. At least be honest
Just ask any car dealer, what trade in price I can get for a 5 year old electric car, with 150 000km on it? When they stop laughing, they'll offer you a can of coke for it!
As new cars rise in price, so too will second hand car prices. This at a time when the EV battery technology is failing worldwide and manufacturers are backing off producing them. Audi and BMW recently announced they will not go all electric and Ford saying they lost $60K on every EV the sold in the last year. Very few people want them. They are a disposable car, just like all battery driven accessories.
EVs only fit the bill for us in the country in people’s utopian heads! .I can’t tow a couple of tons of hay with an extra round bail in the back. I can’t afford one and hope to get at least another 10 years out my 2010 diesel Ute, which is more environmentally friendly than all the mining and resources needed for an ev. And if you actually do the maths with what it takes to change an ev , especially when you are towing you would realise it is cheaper to drive a diesel- then add tyre wear under that giant battery! And our second diesel car returns 5-6 km per hundred km so also an ev beater. Electricity will only go up by design with renewables because someone has to pay to change it all over! On top of that cattle prices don’t ,are not going up with inflation and supermarket price gauging! People need to do some research into how the World Economic Forum is pushing this crap to make the rich richer and create a utopia for themselves- it’s not for the people
Let me get this straight... the government is making it more expensive to own a family car and the only alternative is to buy a car that is more expensive than owning a standard internal combustion family car? So the entire point looks to be to discourage people having families, correct? Because that's what it looks like to me if you're making it increasingly more difficult to have a family and to transport them aroudn.
I live in a regional centre, retired and there is no way I wouldd buy an E.V. Yes! I just purchased a new car.....I was only willing to go as far as a hybrid, EV's just can not do the job out here❗
Why are Australians allowing the Government (which is really a Corporation) to keep TAXING the Aussie battler. STAND💪UP we outnumber them SAY NO to there BS
Hey mate how can we pay for your massive pay rise if we don’t get taxed into oblivion? Great job, we’re sick of having food and electricity, why travel when we can decay on our streets. Mate so happy to cut my ability to live even meagrely for you guys to gallavant around the world. Thanks so much for leading us into this. Good bless or have mercy.
ECU from factories could me made 30% more efficient, which is what we should have addressed in the first place. More mining for things that can not be recycled is absolute waste.
Superchargers on old cars =%100 efficiency ...outlored at the moment..regional in for doing its own structure..we dont wait for legoszzz on our regoszzz ataxzzzz.
😊All pipe dreams at this point , until this country comes up with a electrical power grid that will power the system these dreamer's are dreaming of ,won't happen,
All unnecessary, another 5 years and they will no longer be able to hide the decline in global temperatures and the CO2 myth will have burst unfortunately by then western economies will have been destroyed except for a few grafters like the Gores of the world who made their millions out of the madness.
In Europe ev’s are being crushed and batteries used for homes. Why not replace batteries and use old one to generate power for homes here. Crushing cars is total waste
Electric cars are a dead investment. Toyota & Honda have already pledge their future investment to the development and rollout of the Hydrogen engine moving forward.
😊so pollution on the cards , so why isn't the government of this country looking into other technology available to reduce pollution on coal powered power stations and on cars trucks motorcycles and so on ,on diesel engines by 95 percent and on petrol engines by 50 percent ,And doesn't cost an arm and leg Either And complies to E.U.R.O. 6 S.T.D. ,were Australia is E.U.R.O. 3 AT the monent ,and diesel engines dont need ADD BLUE With the new technology.
The Questions in this interview were really uninformed and not so pertainent to the topic or conversation. I supose i'm saying that this one was not up to the standard we have become used to from Sky News.
EV'S fill all of those requirements as do fuel efficient vehicles. LNPs claim they dont is a total falacy. Drive recently reported that even Electric Heavy trucks (big rigs) will reach price parity with diesel trucks in the short term.
The tax on fuel was originally introduced to pay for roads. I think you'll find aviation fuel is also taxed. Subsidies on renewables ie solar panels and EV's incentive. If we had started in 2012 the necessary transition would not have been so drastic. Of course the LNP in its wisdom blocked EV's and offshore windfarms and subsidised gas and a failed carbon capture for Chevron.
Drive will say whatever the socialists want them to say, Drive wouldn't have a clue about life outside of yuppydom, they are a mouthpiece for car manufacturers and governments, Drive has an agenda, they are not there for you they are there to line their pockets
Electric (heavy ) trucks,........may be the ones doing city deliveries, but I'd like to see a B double or a road train as an EV, doubt it would make it on outback roads. Get the shit shaken out of it. Batteries would not like the heat, getting covered in mud, water etc in wet season.

You'd never get that sort of km on an EV. Too much charging wait time.
Well done , sounds like your talking for the people thanks
At least Labor are consistent, HIGHER TAXES, BROKEN PROMISES, ILLEGAL BOAT ARRIVALS. Who would have guessed.

The EV vehicles cause more harm than other normal vehicles, get everyone on electric, complete CONTROL

WEF sponsored politicians pushing WEF agenda. We’re quickly reaching the point with AI and Robotics where the rich no longer need the poor.
Totally impractical! The gov a joke!
i was at a trade show just recently and low and behold the ev vehicles had fans keeping the batteries cool in an air conditioned show room .
Australians don't want it full stop 🛑

But we keep voting in the same clowns, there needs to be an alternative that can field enough candidates to win a majority
It’s all about CONTROL. Digital identity…..CONTROL, cashless….CONTROL.
I dont want one they exposed in flames .and the charging stations will be vandleist

labor will be gone next election
Let’s hope so,we have the worst government I can remember and I have been voting for 50 years
LIBERAL IS THE OTHER CHEEK SAME BUTT😢
But liberals will push the same agenda. Dutton has his profile on the WEF website
Vote Labor out….
ECU from factories could me made 30% more efficient, which is what we should have addressed in the first place.
More mining for things that can not be recycled is absolute waste.
I’m just waiting for Albo to say, “there will be no car tax under the government I lead”
-why cant labor be kicked out now......we are to blame for fueling labor gov.....boycott everything labor
where is the governer general?
@@darryllspalding9680 governor general is in bed with labor

I thought that was Julia Gillard 😂😂😂😂
At the moment. As I said economics abhors vacuums.
Useless beaurocrats on both sides made this happen
Thank you PM my daughter has just st o Derek new car. Tax on cars. who do you think you are. ManMuck
Albo has broken the bank and needs more money for his unrealistic green dreams. Tax Apon a tax.
Where is Catherine macgregor 2024?
EV cars cannot exist in the outback with dirt roads, dust and distance. They cannot sell EV cars in the US so what the heck is Australia doing
Dr. Webster ?????? . . . of what ?

Why are they subsidised and fossil fuel vehicles taxed.
Who do you think you're kidding?
I want to see a comparable tax on air travel.

Maybe, Volvo has developed big rig EV's, but I agree there's a way to go on Road Trains, but economy hates a vacuum. Perhaps hydrogen maybe an answer.
