If you’re planning on spending your next vacation fishing in the Dominican Republic - congratulations! You’ve made a great choice. If you’re still undecided, we’ve got a long list of reasons why you should visit this sportfishing paradise. Over 800 miles of coastline and nearly every pelagic fish under the sun are just the beginning so if you’re ready to start planning your trip, you’re in the right place.
This slice of paradise sits in the middle of the Caribbean, with access to the Caribbean Sea from the south and the Atlantic Ocean from the north and east. It’s the perfect setting for sunbathing, swimming, and casting a line. But it’s the deep sea fishing in the Dominican Republic that keeps anglers coming back for more every year.
The Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo that all call the DR’s deep waters home might have a little bit to do with why. Best of all? You can hook big game fish year-round. If an inshore trip is more your speed, the island offers that too. Tarpon, Snook, Permit, and Bonefish are all there for the taking. And there’s action in the reefs. Barracuda, Snappers, Groupers, Rainbow Runner, Jacks, Bonito, and Triggerfish are all on the table.
The fishing is stellar across the island but Punta Cana and Puerto Plata reign supreme when it comes to starting points. These vacation (and angling) hotspots boast waters with easy access to the island's star catch - Marlin. Just remember, catch and release is mandatory for all Billfish.
Your charter captain will make sure you’re following all the rules and offer up a first-class fishing experience. And when we say first-class, we mean it. Most charters will include everything from drinks and fresh lunches to airport pick-ups and hotel drop-offs.
If you’re about ready to start planning your trip, that’s why we’re here. FishingBooker.com offers the largest selection of fishing charters in the Dominican Republic - all in one place. With fast and easy online booking, real customer reviews, and the best price guarantee - you can spend more time focusing on what matters. Get your friends and family together and have an incredible day on the water.

Hey I read that there are rainbow trout in the rivers ? Are there any river where I could catch? I’m planning a week long trip this summer.

Hey, thanks for watching! Rainbow Trout are typically found in freshwater environments with cold, clean water, such as rivers, streams, and lakes in regions with temperate climates. The Dominican Republic, with its tropical climate, doesn't have naturally occurring populations of Rainbow Trout in its freshwater systems. However, there are some exceptions. In certain areas of the country where there are colder microclimates or higher elevations, such as the mountains of the Cordillera Central, there have been efforts to introduce Rainbow Trout for recreational fishing purposes. These introductions are often associated with specific Trout farms, private fishing reserves, or controlled environments where water conditions mimic those suitable for the species. So, while Rainbow Trout are not native to the DR, it's possible to find them in limited, controlled environments established for recreational fishing purposes. If you're interested in pursuing Rainbow Trout in the DR, we recommend researching specific locations or facilities that offer Trout fishing opportunities. Take a look at what's on offer here 👉 fshb.kr/4Vd9K and let us know if you have any other questions!

Hi, I’m planning on staying at Bayahibe La Romana region and taking my own fishing gear, is there any beach fishing nearby or charter inshore fishing, staying at either the Hilton La Romana or Catalonia. Any help is appreciated.

Hey there, thanks for watching! Both the Hilton La Romana and Catalonia are beautiful resorts with access to some great fishing opportunities. For beach fishing, you might want to explore the shores around Bayahibe. For inshore charter fishing, we recommend checking out some of the deals in the region, including Bayahibe, Dominicus, La Romana, and Casa de Campo Marina. You can download the FishingBooker app or go to fishingbooker.com/destinations/country/do to take a look at the options. Let us know if you need any other info! Tight lines 🎣

I love to fly fish and got very sick the one time I tried deep sea fishing in Aruba. Any recommendations for guides that have good trips for me? My main target fish id like a crack at would be either mahi or bonefish and permit or tarpon
