Ormonde is not slipping when he doesn't get some of the tourists. He is on duty and takes it seriously. That it includes biting to put the tourists in their place. Tourists need to respect the horse and rider.
I worked with horses for years and have seen some horrendous things happen with horses. I wouldn't go into a field of strange horses. What I find astonishing is how people really don't think horses are LETHAL
Some people have this strange notion that herbivores aren't dangerous and far too many tourists seem to be under the impression that the horses are there for their personal amusement.
I love how Ormonde bites them, and they look so affronted and look at the guard as though it was the guards fault. ❤Ormonde, you are awesome and the guards are so incredibly patient.
People do not appreciate it is not easy to guide a horse with one hand. The guards carry those sabers or whatever they are in one hand. Many tourists are complete air-heads. Ormonde is the best!
People do people things and horses do horse things, BUT horses do not do people things and these tourists should go home and read up on why horses react the way they do. Also a horses sense of smell determines his reaction to most people. Two oriental's approach the horse. One is rejected due to the scent they put out the other is allowed to stand.

Some have probably no knowledge of horses; they see what others do and do the same. I'm really not excusing them , some are incredibly stupid, some want to push the limits ( and not all of them are foreigners) the customs in other countries are different, personal space is VERY different in some countries. I know that good sense and good manners don't always prevail.
People visiting should read up or do research on this place and realize this is a barracks and the guards 💂♂️ and horses are on duty and give respect 🙏 they deserve

I have a t-shirt that says Ormonde just being Ormonde. At an online company. I love Ormonde. I think he's been holding classes in the stable. More horses are getting nibbly. Ha!
I wonder if all the heavily perfumed people get to the horses. I know some scents can have a calming effect for them like Lavender or Vetiver but what about all the crazy perfumes and colognes people splash or spray on. Can heavily scented people cause them stress?
We walked on a footpath across a field with young cows in, who were at the other end of the field. Dog on lead of we went, they saw us and start running. It was everyone for themselves, dog off the lead a ran for the gate hubby got to gate first pulled me over dog got through the gate bars. I found out that a cow can run up to 30mph. I now have cows in the field behind us who I give scratches to, with just a thin fence between us. Love them. Just because they eat grass does not mean they are gentle.

Interesting to see that Ormonde tolerates the young children but a definite no no to the adults. A great horse with a great character. Why do people go up to any horse & maul them would you go up to a dog of any breed or size & rub around its head the same way ? I doubt it very much.
Clearly there is a sign do not touch the horses, then why do guards some permanent it! This makes it harder for those guards that do enforce the rules it’s shows inconsistency, and confusion all guards should absolutely enforce those rules ruled and if can’t not be out there period! The horses are working animals not a petting zoo and should be treated as such!
I don't understand the need to touch those horses. I love horses but they are not rare or difficult to uncouter, so why touch a horse that in in the middle of his job, that ha stop deal with thousands of people every day.. Just let them be, show some respect for personal space. A photo at a reasonable distance should be enough, it's just about that, a moment, you're not going to create a bond with him

Yes, I was afraid for some of the smallest ones, though. Knowing Ormonde, I just wouldn’t take a chance. And they don’t know Ormonde’s reputation. That makes it extra scary to watch parents holding their children next to his face.
