- If you want that pre-war Martin sound, who better to turn to than Martin themselves, especially with their Authentic Aged series guitars? These vintage-inspired models aren't just visually relic'ed, either. From Martin:
"The Aged version of the D-28 Authentic 1937 includes all of the goodness that comes with Martin’s Authentic Series instruments, like hide glue construction and hand-scalloped X bracing. Plus, the Vintage Tone System (VTS) that ages the wood to replicate the sound of a vintage Martin. The result is a tactile, visual, and auditory experience that will transport you all the way back to the 1930s. And we know you’re going to like it there."
This pre-owned 2019 model is in excellent condition, and comes with its original hard case.

What a great piece of music ! This guitar seems as happy as the player. Thank you, Carl and your team.
Now, that is what an acoustic guitar should sound like!
What beautiful composition and playing.
Carl Miner could / should teach a master class on flat picking. That touch and dynamic variation is just unreal
That'd be like a pilgrimage for me. Id climb everest for that class.
Not easy to teach something that is instinctive like dynamics and touch. It's not really a "Technique". I think mostly its a matter of practicing until you are able to control the dynamic level of every note you play, no matter how fast. Probably a couple of decades of hard work. LOL
Add cross picking to that class too.
@@toddkreuzburg4162 This^^^^^^^^ absolutely spot on.
Check out Troy Grady / Cracking The Code. He has multiple interviews with Carl Miner where he explains in detail how Carl's picking technique works, and how it's different from other bluegrass flatpickers. ua-cam.com/video/kMGwH5As72g/v-deo.html
Carl, Coincidentally I played one of these models today. I was totally. Impressed with its sound and playability. Your talent and presentations are so inspiring that keeps most of coming back for more of your wonderful musicality and musicianship. Thank you.
I’ll be watching this over and over until I can play that. Love it
Man that little bend in the melody gives me goosebumps. Phenomenal playing.
Carl, I watch a lot of Acoustic Guitar videos. This one and the Goodall grand concert demo from 2019 are my favorite. Beautiful compositions, playing and tone ! The microphones must be amazing also. Thank you.
I came to hear a specific guitar tested....and just let it play in the background as youtube pushed piece after piece. Better than many guitar channels. Well done - you are an asset to your company - knowing how to maximize the tone of each instrument!
Superb! Exceptional qualities! Gives a sea of joy to the player!
I could listen to Carl play all day. These demonstrations are an inspiration to just play and create instrumentals. Beautiful progression and a great sounding guitar. Thanks!
He's so amazingly tasteful in his playing and phrasing. Beautiful
Sounds fantastic,great demo Carl👍🇬🇧👍
You guys do a great job with the recordings! Of course Carl is amazing as well! That is one heck of a guitar! Super deep lows and bright ringing highs ! Wow! 😯
Awesome guitar. The tone and responsiveness are stellar.
These aged Martin guitars are just exceptional. What a wonderfully sweet, balanced sound. Quintessential Martin. Carl is at his best here, picking just the right tune to show off this beauty.
I finally have this guitar. It's everything I could have hoped and more.
I believe this is exceptional. This needs to become a song. Give a name to it and deliver it to the world!
waltzing tears of joy
Give me chills every time... What an amazing player!!!
Great tone and a beautiful song. Good job...the guitar is amazing too.
I've watched all of your videos with Carl doing the demo on the guitars and this is one of my favorites. The guitar sounds great, the song is AMAZING!! .22-1.23 was PURE MAGIC!! Great Job, as always!! Carl!!
I have the same guitar . I am thrilled that this guitar produces such a sound. I listened this video a hundreds times ..
Just heard the Gallagher Maple/Cedar, then directly to this one. Yes, the depth, fullness, volume of rich sound on this Martin reminds me why they are one of the greats...
Every time I hear this guy ...so good
Stellar playing. Guitar sounds amazing
Thanks!
Beautiful!
Very tasteful playing!
Gorgeous sounding guitar.
This sold already….what a great sounding guitar
That was exquisite! I have that exact guitar. Mine is a 2015 model.
great playing
Those thirds and sevenths in the bass as he does secondary voicings… wow. So tasty.
This is beautiful 🙂
that the real deal right here amazing
awesome sounding guitar!!! =)
Sense and sensibility in his playing....jeesh....
Really offers a nice finger style tone.
Pure magic.
Perfection
That is as good guitar tone I have ever heard. Martins are hard to beat.
So musical from Carl’s soul always beautiful melodic
Awesome Carol, loved every second of it… amazing guitar!
Thanks Kevin, we're glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome Keith....
You tell him, Dave..
@@bjornegan6421 Well said Bjork.
Just bought one today ....tested it against the standard 28 plus the custom shop. Really no contest in the sound....expensive but worth it
Wow!
Bro has serious musicality.
This is by far the BEST acoustic playing on UA-cam. *****5 Stars*****
Please stop with the 'best' shit
@imaseeker100 Who is the heck are you, the participation monitor?
His attack speed is as dialed in as Tiger’s golf swing.
@@imaseeker100it is the BEST though. The BEST.
perfect
This is the best acoustic guitar in the world for me.
What a great tune and guitar!
Thanks for your kind words Fernando!
I bought the "Unaged" beaten-up version, D-28, 1937 authentic, but equally the one built to original specs. Only 444 existed as of a few months back to date. It's a great sounding guitar, and it is my favorite. I own three D-28's, one D-18, and this guitar is my favorite by far. This guitar sounds better than a D-42 or D-45.
Absolutely Agree !!!!!
That is my favorite guitar! I have "The Gibson Custom Shop Late 1950s Re-Issue Southern Jumbo Fat Neck Triburst" (This is the actual title of the guitar, quite mouthful hah! ) Mine sounds great but this one sounds brilliant! Maybe I need Carl to play mine ;-P
immaculate
We need a CD of your amazing flat-picking Carl !
Utterly gorgeous piece Carl. Is it one of yours? I'm working on playing it, big stretches here and there but so worth it. Thanks so much
Nice Carl
Just my style , see it in heaven.
Beautiful Martin guitar & great playing. I bet Carl could make my Seagull S6 guitar sound like a million bucks.
I think that would be a bridge too far for even Carl.
@@jdhaole7650 ah come on, the new Seagull S6 is pretty decent for the money. Not all of us have multiple thousands of dollars to spend on acoustic guitars. I have to make the best, and hopefully some day I will be able to get a higher end guitar. I have owned a Martin D28 & an HD28 many years ago.
@@lilycat1694 Absolutely, I was just fooling with ya 😉
Seagulls are awesome guitars for the money

I love most anything in 3/4 time
Awesome playing and sounding guitar!
Would love to learn your mic’ing technique
The drop tuning is Stunning on this🥰
What tuning is it??

If I ever get a tooth pulled I want Carl Miner playing in the background. Please.
Hahaha. Please let me
เป็นกีตาร์ที่มีน้ำเสียงงดงามมากๆ
great
A good Dread is a good Dread.... Fingerpicking, flatpicking, strumming - no other guitar imho has that full range poweful spectrum with fundamental bass. The Martin is a winner.... i love my D18 aged 1939 and will get a D28 aged authentic too... wonderful 🎶
Good idea! I have the aged D-28 model, now I need to get the D-18!
@@rogerd9150I feel like if you have one, it's not even necessary. At least tbe 18. The authentic 18s are almost rosewood like. Spending that much for two you can get a vintage that will beat these guys. Unless you can find a deal. Say 4-5k range max
@@el34glo59 Hello! I ended up getting the Martin D-18 Sinker Mahogany. It is very nice.
WOW👏👏
DANG IT, Miner. You've already sold this one. I had no idea I needed it and now I can't have it. :)
Honestly, that sounds amazing, but sounds just like a very good piece of Indian rosewood to me
Please! Which stringing make and model did you use on the Martin D28 to record this video?
Thanks!
next time while this sweet playing is happening there could have been slow pics of the entire guitar rotating
Finally just some playing in the videos. Seems there is too much explaining and too little playing in videos lately. This was a demo didn't need to say anything about it. Guitar spoke for us.
Thanks for the feedback! We're trying some new things, but we also will continue releasing music-only demos like this of as many guitars as we can. Those go live on Sundays, so watch for the new ones then.
She sure sounds pretty!
Превосходное зву чание❤
Great playing as always from Carl! Let's say Carl has test-played around 40 guitars on youtube. Let's do a test: Let's take 1000 people to LISTEN to- and SEE this 40 demo's as many times as they want. Next step: Let's take the same 40 guitars and randomize the 40 different songs he has played on them. So Carl plays the same songs but on a different guitar as the original round. We take the same 1000 people but now they listen blindfolded to the 40 songs. I'm sure that nobody is capabele to select the correct guitar that matches the played song. The sound difference between the guitars is neglectable and it's all about the hands of the master.
Miner could make a Lincoln Log sound good...but this D-28 in his hands is beyond compare.
What song is it that he’s playing?
I cannot find this guitar matching this serial number (1971 Martin d-18 280017)
Great job Carl, great tone/balance/bass/resonance.. what strings were used here and what flat pick and thickness were used? The white pick looks like a Dunlop Tortex Flex
Any chance to get tabs for that? Please !!
Can we get the tuning and the tabs for this one?
What is the name of this song? Love it.
What song is this?
Is that song played in standard tuning? I have to learn how to play it from your video.

@@roscoe2311 Thank you sir!
Which song did you play? It’s nice song
What pick is used?Carl
Does anyone know wich microphones these are?
Schoeps CMC6/MK41
What string gauge did you use in this Martin to record this video? Did you use 012 or 013 gauge ropes? Thanks!!
We always string dreadnoughts with 13s unless otherwise requested by a customer!
@@TheNorthAmericanGuitar Thanks
@@TheNorthAmericanGuitar I really think we only 013 Martin sound better, because the sound gets much better. I have a D28 and I've always used 013, one day I thought to change to 012, but the sound wasn't the same, so I went back to 013.
@@McCambira Yeah, you’ll lose a lot of the power of the dreadnought by using a lower string gauge - they’re definitely best with 13s!
@@TheNorthAmericanGuitar Thank you!
This may be sacrilege but I think I may like Madagascar better than Brazilian. It has a real sweet midrange punch yet balanced across the spectrum. Brazilian can sometimes sound metallic up high and chords don't seem to blend as well.
Not sacrilege! You've made some valid observations, and outlined exactly why we love Madagascar, too!
@@TheNorthAmericanGuitar can you let us know which mics you are using?
@@kents2908 Schoeps CMC6/MK41
I agree!
I called the Martin factory yesterday. They told me that Madagascar rosewood is now virtually impossible for them to get (most current model is made with Guatemalan rosewood). They said many prefer Madagascar because it most closely resembles Brazilian. So if you have the Madagascar model you better hold onto it.
Ima need some tabs on dis please
I want to know this song name😢
Did you keep the original strings on this guitar? It sounds far too good to be "coated" or "treated" strings. In fact, how anyone could say these guitars are not "as good as it gets" is beyond me.
Mobile speakers just do not do these justice.
This guitar has a nice modern tone. It DOES NOT sound Vintage!
This is just ridiculous
Authentic? If it was not made in 1937, it’s not authentic I wish Martin would quit playing these bs games with their names. Man can’t tell if something has a truss rod or not? it’s all bs man they need to get their act together, come back to the basics of making great guitars.
