I test burning different ratios of Potassium Nitrate and Sugar. All of these were made by dissolving the ingredients in water and boiling off the water. This was the first time that I tried videoing with multiple angles, it works ok though I have some ideas on how to make it better - particularly making editing easier.

You shouldn't heat it up you lose all the smoke when the sugar caramelizes, mix it to a fine powder instead and than dissolve it into melted wax while steering than you get a good smoke bomb. the proportions are 46g kno3 25g sugar 29g wax per 100g another that is lasting longer but with less thick smoke is12 parts kno3, 8 parts sugar, 10 parts wax. The wax acts the same way as baking soda because it's going to give a much slower burn but wax is better but you need to be more careful using wax because it's a cooling agent and you need to mix it well to get the best result it take's a few tries. I have experimented with over 500 different ways down to ingredients, technics on how to mix them, what layer to wrap them in etc.. A metal will oxidize with the Nitrate faster but when it's melted pour it on wet newspapers than rolled it up and than when melted into a wax just put a layer of aluminum around it and than put it in the jar for a longer burn and thicker smoke but not as intensive so it's a science to find the best smoke bomb

What is the proper ratio of KNO3 to Instant Coffee ?
Doesn't need as much KNO3.

I did a video on making it with charcoal (ua-cam.com/video/nPtxNKlFbtg/v-deo.html) and calculated that it would likely need more KNO3 (though I did not try multiple different ratios). It would make sense that Instant Coffee would use a lower KNO3 ratio because it would not be as pure of flammable components as sugar is. Though I do wonder how it would burn with more filler in it.

With a few ratios, always burned hot & fast, good smoke... but, quite a bit stimulating with caffeine.
It did drive mosquitos, flies, nats, & wasps away for a couple of days per trial.
