    Hope I will find part 2, but I have been growing and showing dahlias for many years and this is one of the best videos discussing dahlia harvest I’ve seen.🎉

    Such a helpful video. I really learned a lot. I just dug my first dahlia bulbs from this year. You weren’t kidding when you said it was a hard job. I followed all of your directions. I live in the mountains of western nc. I have a crawl space that is humidity controlled but not the flexibility of adjusting. It’s dry and cool and I’ll have to monitor the bulbs which I’ll store in perlite. Fingers crossed.

    I've never heard anyone talk about the water getting into the stems & leading to rot but I've always suspected that! Great thorough video! Love your farm name! That's one of the names I had thought of using for my farm! 😊

    I’ve watched dozens of videos on dahlia storage and this is the first time I’ve heard about gall, or how to cure. I think some of mine had that last year… who knew??!

      Gall is everywhere on dahlia tubers so it’s highly likely you’ve come across some! All else fails treat them like potatoes, we learned curing from a potato farmer 😅

    So many great tips! I didn't realize they need to cure in such high humidity. Do you do anything to the soil where you removed the infected dahlias? I also had plant gall on some of my plants. I tossed the plants. Can I still plant my dahlias this season in the area where the infected dahlias came from last year? My raised beds are where I plant my dahlias, so it will stink if I can't use half that bed.
    Also, did you do your follow-up video on storing? I can't find it in the list of videos.

    Great video. 2nd yr with Dahlias for me. Can I just slice the whole thing down the middle? Mine are so "clumpy" and big.

    • @Blossomandbranch
      @Blossomandbranch  Рік тому

      You can, just make sure you cure the cut ends!

    Do you have to avoid planting dahlias in the same spot where you pulled out the infected one?

    • @Blossomandbranch
      @Blossomandbranch  2 роки тому +2

      Yup, I'd say keep susceptible varieties out of that area for a couple years--you can also solarize the soil in the hot months, but always be sure to rotate plants, which will help the most!

    If they were in a pot all summer, shd we keep them there or separate them before storing them in a basement?

    6b we have not had a light frost yet. But tomorrow it will be in twenties. Should I wait to dig up or should I wait since they have not died back yet
