It always astonishing to me when some reactors don't hear Floor growl in this amazing song and some don't hear her in Yours is a Empty Hope oops just gave it away for Jynger now sorry.

Nothing makes me smile bigger than Emppu's hopping during the breakdown, then immediately in to a Metal God's stance with a hair flip. The dude is just the best metal guitarist out there! Just because he doesn't go batsh*t on every song doesn't mean he's not capable, he is so good that he does exactly what is needed to make the song epic. Tuomas just cannot compose anything but a masterpiece. Marko is at his growling best, because it's melodic at the same time. There is nothing this band cannot do, they are so far above any other band it cannot be measured. You, Jynger, are ALWAYS a delight and also put a big smile on my face, just from your sweetness. Always here for your ride!

Little bit background:
This was one of the first songs to be written for Imaginaerum and was described by keyboardist and composer-in-chief, Tuomas Holopainen, as, "a duel between the Devil and Mother Gaia." (Mother Gaia is the goddess who the ancients believed represented Earth). He explained to Metal Hammer magazine: "Since this is a dramatic album about the celebration of life and existence, you need the dark side as well. I love the dark side and I love all kinds of evil stuff, so we needed a few songs to describe those. 'Ghost River' and 'Rest Calm' are the two songs that are talking about the dark side of life."

'Rest Calm'... Amazing song. Blew me away when I heard the "Imaginearum" album for the first time. Epicness times ten. Ultra-dense and rich sound, and Marko simply kills it. Too bad there ain't any good live vids available of Rest Calm.
The Poet And The Pendulum (Live Wembley) would be a pretty dark one. Also The Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean (Live Buenos Aires). Both with amazing Marco/Floor vocals.

If I may can I recommend in my opinion probably some of the best pened music in metal history well I'm from were it all started from(ENGLAND) and been listening to metal for the past 4 decades
The only thing that I always imagine when I hear this song is when the little red riding hood meets the wolf but in a dark tone. Floor is the little red riding hood while Marco (the bass player/back up singer) is the wolf.

Lovely reaction. I have heard that the song is about a battle between a troll trying to lure children across a bridge and a mother figure trying to stop them. Also think it could be the reverse where the mother figure is an evil witch and the troll is trying to save the children by encouraging them to cross the bridge to him. In any case it is a beautiful song with Marko's dark voice in beautiful harmony with Floor's soaring angelic tones (plus a few growls snuck in).

Oh wow, you're still doing only 1 a week. What patience and discipline! I did a quick count, not sure if I missed a few releases or whatever, and counted the 2nd CD from the newest album as only a single song... But it sums up to 103 songs recorded in a studio and released by Nightwish. If we count all the LP, CD, DVD, and compilation releases on top of their studio albums then they have like 30 of them already. I'm still waiting to see how long it takes for you to cave and just go on a reaction spree, haha.
There's nothing better after coming home from a 12 hour working day than seeing your brightest smile while you're enjoying the hell out of a Nightwish song. That was a lot of fun, Jynger!

Floor is a mother figure agreeing, but persuading kids they have to live their lives by taking the odd risk
If you look at the lyrics Marko and Floor often sing the same verse but with a different last word

Hello Jynger, greetings from bonnie Scotland, massive Nightwish fan here, you're channel came up on my recommendations and I decided to check you out and loved your reactions, you have a new subscriber. You asked for new recommendations and as you have the "Nightwish army" on board, why not bring the "Wolfpack"(fan base) along too by reacting to this fantastic heavy metal band called LOVEBITES, who like Nightwish will blow you away as they did me with their phenomenally talented musicians & wonderful vocalist. Their music has an 80's vibe but add their own signature which is uplifting, positive, melodic with great harmonies, not the conventional dark, doom and gloom style, and are very different from what you might expect to see, they all understand composition & are a one in a million combination just like Nightwish. Many reactors have done videos about those. Just divide into parts if you feel like it. Both documentaries are excellent.

This song is from "Imaginaerum" (the seventh studio album from Anette era).
Marko has great menacing tone here , and Floor Growls ( only few will notes this ). Plus , this song has a crazy Van Halen Vibe to it ( Van Halen - Aint Talkin' Bout Love comes to mind ).
This song took me several listens and deep dive at first , and now I listen this song daily . Love this song !!!
