    I truly appreciate your advice on interior design. I love accessories as well. My problem is finding storage when changing/ switching out items and not forgetting about what I have in my closet full of decor. These are not "seasonal items" so I'm struggling with finding a use again and/or where to repurpose.

    I'd love to see you focus on smaller businesses and artists that offer unique pieces online. Yes, I buy from Amazon, Home Depot, Target, Pottery Barn, et. al. Many times I go into someone's home and can tell exactly what decorator they follow simply from where they buy their decor. Ease is great. But unique is better.

    • @HouseofValentina
      @HouseofValentina  Рік тому +9

      We mix the two in our home. We collect unique pieces as we travel and explore but we also bring in pieces from other businesses. We also try and make design more democratic, allowing people access to more options. So we try to balance budget, availability and style so that more people can access good design.

      Oftentimes, I use Valentina's suggestions as jumping-off points for looking for similar but uniquely sourced items. However, before I found Valentina, Pottery Barn was my favorite place to dream of future spaces. I just happened to find her when I could finally afford to buy from there. 😄

    Pet owners, please research your scented products if you have cats or dogs. Some fumes cause respiratory problems, some are poisonous, even more so if your pet has asthma. This includes candles, potpourri, sprays, plug-ins etc. I LOVE scented candles but my cat goes into sneeze attacks when I use, so I just put some oranges etc in water on stove on low and let the scent fill that side of the house.

    Hi Valentina. I love your channel and your modern classic design style.
    Getting my bathroom done now and the tile I picked is not having the impact that I wanted. It's a faux marble Carrara statuario. Basically white with minimal charcoal veining. This is the shower wall and floor tile for the ensuite. Now I'm confused as to how to style the rest of the bathroom. I really don't want an all white bathroom. I just ordered a black oak vanity and all my faucets are chrome. What are some good options for wall color that will add a wow factor? This tile is not doing it unfortunately 😕 . I’m just starting the video, I can already tell you I LOVE IT… lol. I have a question about white couches. Do you prefer performance fabric over washable ones? I’m pulling the trigger this year. I also have chronic back pain, is West Elm more comfortable than PotteryBarn? Or is it just deciding on a style I want? I want a great couch that will last? Thanks so much for all you do Valentina!

      It mainly comes down to style differences. We have sofas from both and love them both. Some of the ones from Pottery Barn do feel a bit more soft and plush so it depends on whether you need it to be softer or a bit firmer.

    I agree with you that the arts with glitter is ugly OMG. Neutral rugs I also love especially when your living room or dining spaces are small. Thanks for the tips on RH outlets.

    Get your art from the artist. Yes, it costs money, but it's worth it. Support artists!

    I so agree with having a neutral area rug to define a sitting area or around the bed. Ive opted for a wool Nortic Knots rug, and love the look and feel as I step out of bed each morning. The books I display (near my collection on mid century vases) are 100 year old fiction with gorgeous illustrations and filigree chapter numbering. Thank you for your tip about steaming. I try to get the sheets out of the dryer and right on the bed, but my hand steamer would do the trick, too!

    I just want to take a moment to appreciate what you said around @12:30. You were talking about pillows and how they elevate any space, well not *any* space, wouldn't want to put them in a tub :)
    I'm pointing it out because that little segment is a perfect of example of why I appreciate you and your videos - I really love how you speak authentically.
    There's another creator on UA-cam I like, but I can't handle how they speak in absolutes. Recently they said something like "Home Goods is ALWAYS a good place to shop for patio furniture. They ALWAYS have good deals on that." And I'm sitting there thinking "???? well not **always** what about when patio furniture is out of season? or my store is out of stock? or isn't a good deal or a nice style? What do you mean always?" And the whole video was like that. It sent me spiraling. LOL I watched that video like a week ago and I'm still upset about it hahaha just the way my brains works I guess :)
    Sorry for rambling! Thank you for making videos where I can actually absorb what you're saying, because I really love your ideas and your examples :)

    Can you paint over the glitter to give it texture especially if the rest of it is painted textured?
