Most novels that get translated to anime or manga often bring in these kinds of "fans" that don't actually know anything about the story/characters and learn about it through videos online instead of just reading it
So, what's the point of author accepting adaptation, of those who enjoy different format are called fake fans in the end? Don't accept adaptation offers than.
90% of people claiming online they "read the source material" are in fact only repeating what they read from other people claiming they read the source material. Source of this number? I made it the fuck up, just like most of the people arguing about source material online. 🗿
Doesn't help that you would get spoiled from things like Facebook. Had a friend that I was regularly keeping tabs with ever since the anime was announced and was discussing with him every time an episode came out over those years. One day out of the blue he was asking me about information that was literally at the end of the series if it was true. He practically knew about every major event in the series because he got major spoiled in FB.
No joke, I have a niece who likes MHA, thought it would be a cool bonding moment for us to read together as I have almost every manga now. I showed her and she seemed interested but got bored after 1 chapter. She then got on her phone to show me short clips of the series to show me what she liked about it and all of it was misinformation. Seriously the first little video was a short for about a minute explaining the canon reason Bakugo and Deku love each other sexually... Gave fake examples and everything. I learned that day though talking she's never seen the series, read any chapters, and only seen shorts on it based on peoples head canon. Shame too she's a good kid and we're watching the series together soon (I set a rule no phones) So maybe she'll see that the people on her fancy device are lying to her and she'll learn to look at things from the source and either be a real fan or leave anime knowing it won't be for her
Oh god and you want to watch MHA? Jesus just to watch one piece like I get it 1000+ episodes blah, but the worst arcs of one piece are essentially the best arcs of MHA. I know you probably think your making a quality over quantity decision here but just hold up a sec and think about it, really only the first season of MHA was really good, meanwhile the start of one piece is slow and peaceful, but the show gets much better as it goes on.
@@davepumphernickel9568 People already skip parts of shorter series, what makes you think they won't do it for One Piece given its length? Not everyone is interested in One Piece, nor should anyone have to watch it over another.
You can, but it depends on what your criticism is. For example, The Summoner is a book serie in which I have only read 2 of the 4 books, the series consists of a trilogy and a prequel. I have only read 2 books, and will not read the other 2, but I can already tell you that the writer is terrible at writing. He is full of contradictions, his world building is very lackluster at best, the military does no planning before going on a crucial mission etc. To hive that criticism, I do not need to read the entire bookseries. Another example would be if you find a movie boring. You don't have to see the entire movie to call it such, because there is no greater evidence for calling a movie boring, then your audience not being able to finish the movie because it is boring. So it really depends. Not all valid criticism of media requires "a proper read/watch".

The fact that This Generation of 'Weebs' can't even sit for 30 to 45 minutes per day to watch at least 1 episode of anime and just use short form media to get the gist of the anime, saddens me.
@@lilkiddyt3946 true. Back when I was first getting into anime I would watch 5 episodes a night before bed(10 if it was a weekend). I managed to blitz through several series and even make a decent chunk out of one piece in a month. These people just don’t want to watch, yet want to call themselves fans
They just like the medium because it's popular now. That's the main difference. While we had to go out of our way to find things we liked, they get it fed to them, along with people talking about it more. They just get their opinions from what other people say, and from what I've seen, from video essayists on youtube.
stop calling them weebs and call them what they real are tourist they don't deserve the cladding and moniker of the past as they don't have the mental stability and fortitude to enjoy the real og anime without some secondary screen with a phone game
I can't stand the short attention span generation. I like well written long form content. I like clips too don't get me wrong, but I miss old shool long meaningful anime or even the medium length hard hitting shows. Now everyone is wanting short content and I just don't like it. Fine for movies okay even shows like Edge Runners are excellent (far and few between), but we don't need short clip anime. It's already hard to get good long form content.
I do watch a some short-form anime. I think it all comes down to execution. Series like Gloomy the Naughty Grizzly and Komatta Ojiisan have nice stories despite being under 3 mins. Even the extra shorts from Isekai Quarter and Maoujou de Oyasumi fleshes out the characters along with the main anime.
@corycianangel6321 I like this and agree. I like it as an addition not as a replacement. Overlord's specials were fantastic because they fleshed the cast out in a comedic way you don't get in the main show but you could 100% see them living like while allowing the show to stand on it's own. I'm not saying all are bad, just that it would have to be a good fit forsure and I definitly don't want the industry moving towards ONLY short form anime because people lack attention spans.
Just to support what Chibi is saying, some of the MHA migrants are now trying to ship Okarun and Jiji or Momo and Aira just so they can have their Bi-relationship fix, even though it is pretty clear that the story's anchor itself is the blooming relationship of Okarun and Momo.
@@Loadingedits.. i know, i read the manga to the end, what i meaned is that headcannons arent bad, if you just take it as a different ramification of the story and not the original work, manga and anime fans tend to get easily triggered about this while they complain about others being snowflakes
This is the reason why both Marvel, Starwars, and even LOTR after the trilogy are considered some of the most brain dead slop to enter the market. It's taking a wonderful, beautiful story and making it marketable for modern audiences while trying to not offend anyone, and appeal to everyone. It makes it lose it's intended pur pose and magic. I would rather there not be a starwars anymore if it meant something like The Acolyte didn't exist.

I think there are two other factors at play here: too many series in the market, and the social-media-attention-seeking desire. Social media makes it easier for people to gain attention, but it is also hard to stand out. With 300+ anime series per year now, no one can say for sure which will be a hit, so "content creators" just out to seek attention have to find other ways to gain some knowledge, enough for them to create their "content" and hope it will go viral. Obviously, this becomes a vicious cycle of watering down the knowledge from actually reading or watching the series.
Look for the 'reflections' one too, not quite short stories but more a collection of rudeus mental blurbs Also the 'redundancy' spinoff has started being officially translated, the first one is out in eng Kindle now

The number of people that confuse the events of the non-canon web novel with the actual events of the story is actually insane. It's a dead giveaway that they haven't actually experienced the series outside of a TikTok or Wiki page.

Based on this response I see where the author's point is coming across. And it's like he says: either watch the series or read the manga/LN and then share opinions about it after reading, than relying on small summary clips. Same thing applies to other series. I can't criticize a story if I have not made the effort to spend the time and learn more about it.
Pretty much every single MT hater I've seen online have a single trait in common: Zero integrity. They try so hard to pretend that hearing the Cliffnotes version of the story's events from a secondary source that probably also hasn't watched or read the series gives them as much credibility as someone who has actually watched the anime or read the source material.
Clarify:ppl can have any opinions if they want even if it is some shitty opinions, that being said, you can cristism them for having that opinion too. That is why the author say "i don't really mind, however.." instead of "i hate it" bc at the end of the day opinion is opinion, and it is up to you to see if you want to take it seriously or not.
Japanese artists should reject all bloat forms, and never work with the gaijin at all. Led Zeppelin managed to sell 300 million album copies worldwide, and their music are never censored nor localized.

Anime/Manga shouldn’t have to cater and neither should the authors . Authors need to stand their ground cause those people aren’t anime fans “ They are Tourist”.
Best isekai ever. Rudeus hands down the best character in the isekai genre, who best portrays second chances in life. Also, I'm ok with Ars being with Aisha.

I read the Light Novel from 8-26 and it was like "crack". I was literally sitting for hours reading the story it is so captivating and like an addiction. I cannot understand people not being able to read it, especially in a real book form, for me at least, it is less tiring for your eyes. People shouldn´t judge just based of off their feelings or something else, they should give the story a try and then give an opinion to it with points critiquing, mentioning, showing bla bla bla what they think was bad/good etc.

The moment of realization, maybe that dream guy is LYING TO YOU TO HARM YOU WITHOUT YOU KNOWING was revolting especially when he found the rat. Mushoku Tensei even has translated audiobooks of the entire series. They are really good too! You can use it for entertainment in situations where your eyes and hands are occupied with other tasks like driving or working out.
The thing is that some of the people who give out wrong information _have_ read a series and are intentionally lying in order to make others believe the series is something it's not. This usually happens with genderbender/crossdressing series (in order to make people believe it's trans) or with loli/shota series (in order to make people believe it supports abusing kids). Then, of course, you have people who do _BOTH,_ where they watch only clips and recaps of things and then intentionally lie about the content of it because they didn't like it. This happens with series like Mushoku Tensei and Made in Abyss which are very niche series that depict things outside the normal consciousness of western society and get a lot of media uproar over it.
The opposite seems to be happening at slime isekai, maybe sometimes. These "fans" kept on overglazing it and often leaves overexaggerated comments about stuff, resulting to the series attracting nonreaders that are pretending they did, or readers who just picked up the book out of pure hate and look for faults. Not just this series now that I think about it.

the problem is not just that, it's that there is little mental maturity, little common sense and little critical thinking to separate fiction and reality, and it really shows in modern times and not just in anime / manga

My sister has recently gotten into anime, and she's in that rabbit hole now. So this is right, she did enough research to know that, but she couldn't be bothered to watch it because of a perceived notion and bias.
I have watched it. She’s completely right. The series is great except for the mc who literally is a 30 who ends up grooming and marrying 2 children. Sorry he doesn’t change at all in that aspect and pretending like he does is just sad.
@solace2679 I don't think your sister is wrong because that is literally the first impression the show presented itself, if one could not accept such insane notion then it is totally valid for them to not watch said show.
@@nhutang433 I completely get that, yeah. I listened to the Mushoku Tensei audiobooks not because I can't or don't want to read; it's because I simply don't have time to sit and read. So, I listen to the audiobooks at work and absorb it that way. I've been listening to many series that way; Solo Leveling, How a Realist King Rebuilt the Kingdom, Reborn as a Space Mercenary, Overlord, and many many others. Honest, I do prefer the LN to the show now because the LN has so much more details than the shows usually do (which I understand). I finished Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation, now I'm waiting for them to do more Redundant Reincarnation audiobooks because I've really been enjoying the little that they've put out so far!
Short attention spans are partly the reason I got into webcomics. I don't go on webtoon often, but when I do, I have both an entertaining story & satisfying colourful visuals to keep me hooked. I watch more than I reed because vishuals are wat mostly keeps me interested, but that's why I think webtoon is a good in-between. Just this summer, I got from episode 14 to episode 70 when i was on a 7-day holiday.
Rifujin has had enough of these people who say they read the entire LN and just STILL say Rudeus is a PDF and he hasn’t changed. I want a community where everyone isn’t judging any anime or badmouthing it, but enjoy watching for the sake of entertainment.

Shame too she's a good kid and we're watching the series together soon (I set a rule no phones) So maybe she'll see that the people on her fancy device are lying to her and she'll learn to look at things from the source and either be a real fan or leave anime knowing it won't be for her
She's not a "good kid" She's a Fujoshi 😅
Oh god and you want to watch MHA? Jesus just to watch one piece like I get it 1000+ episodes blah, but the worst arcs of one piece are essentially the best arcs of MHA. I know you probably think your making a quality over quantity decision here but just hold up a sec and think about it, really only the first season of MHA was really good, meanwhile the start of one piece is slow and peaceful, but the show gets much better as it goes on.

@@kevintanza6968like some persona fans.

This is why the internet was a mistake.

We seriously gotta gatekeep those tourists
To be honest mushoku tensei fans are like the definition of like 出来ない tourists.
Like the only reason people like mushoku tensei or re;zero is because they are re writings of alicesoft games.
Which tend to scare of the average reader for several reasons.
And which will probably never get JLOX money since they would make look japan look bad.
So you won't read stuff like dorapeko unless you know japanese.
@@mouhou9795 What the hell are you talking about?
@@grrman Because you're a tourist.
That's why you're axiomatically incapable of understanding.
I'm so glad I don't have a low attention span for stuff that I enjoy.
Amen
I'm so glad I was born in the 90's so that I got to know what life before terminally online people were a thing and that I was able to see a time where common sense and critical thinking existed and were praised
@xLuis89x I was born in the late 90s, but I practically lived under a rock, so I didn't know about most of the online stuff until after I graduated high school.
The people that watch anime in like 2x speed.... and you ask them anything about such series and they don't even know anything.
People just can't sit and enjoy something anymore.
or just sit and realize something isn't for them and move on, look, there are plenty of mentally ill people in this comment section acting like moral police about it, they are sad and pathetic
He's not even insulting or being disrespectful with that comment, he's being real. Normal level even.
I said it a lot in my friendsgroup ppl overlook good writen storys just because they always need action etc. Its just sad to see that good writing storys and well crafted charakters matters less and less.
Man the Dandadan community has been so messed up the last couple of weeks
when I was watching it, I saw the first episode and went ''hah, the modern audience is gonna cry a really big river over this, I can FEEL IT!'' and I was right
I can't stand people like this if you dislike and want to critize a series that is your prerogative. Not everyone is going to like the same things. If you are going to critize a series at least, do it from the perspective of someone who has watched or read said series rather than just attack it from a place of ignorance.
He took a shot- and hit straight *FACTS* a salute my *G O A T*
The show and series in general is just so goated. Glad to see him speaking straight facts in his post.
Based again 🍵
There's a reason "EN Can't Read" is a common meme in certain gaming circles. Honestly, it's sad.
Ok fr though way too many people that never seen watched or read something love to act like they have and know everything about a series. If you haven't even seen the series don't act like you have then.
Author gains my respect for making such a sigma move to those idiotic so-called "fans".
And it’s actually Psychotic that they have to lie to everyone including people who haven’t watched or read MT and say all of these things without ever reading it, and to lie in front of everyone just to put a bad name to Mushoku Tensei is not the anime community I want to live in. I want a community where everyone isn’t judging any anime or badmouthing it, but enjoy watching for the sake of entertainment.
the main reason for me not angaging with fanbdoms and staying away from overhyped series at least to the time hype would calm down a little around them is because i want to discover stuff on my own terms not be dictated what to think and what part to look forward to. probabl;y because of it i have a lot of old niche anime onm my list
when was the last time someone discussed stuff like figure 17 or haibane renmei or hare guu
Same. I haven't really actively engaged the fandom since I was kicked off an anime forum/image gallery in 2009. I watch mostly stuff from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, and only watch anime on physical media. If you like niche stuff, "Piano: Melody of a Young Girl's Heart" is a not-so-well-known series from 2002. I have all three volumes on dvd.
I had people telling me "Mints change Natures on the Pokémon" when it is a lie because Mints change the stat growth, but not others like the preferred flavors and how Eleson will evolve into Strinder. Posers know nothing about Pokémon, for example.
sad thing is, that people acknowledge this and continue to do it anyway. people need to become aware of their actions
The statement is only correct if everyone has access to the content equally! However, if they have access in a limited amount or in a language they do not understand, the results are just what we see and hear. The extent to which readers or viewers can adapt to the content varies, because we are all different people.
I'm a really slow reader, due to me having a hard time reading I tend to read a chapter of a Light Novel each day, and because of this I'm really behind on my Light Novels. The age we live in is a stupid one, where everyone is getting dumber, and lazier because everything is so easy to use.
It's trend riding in it's simplest form
Too true. This applies to anime, games, movies, TV shows, restaurants ... pretty much everything in life.
