Stock setup that works for me (220 lb rider)
TCS 1
SLCS 2
LIF 2
PWR 1
A yamaha rep was interviewed in a video and he says the lift control doesn't actually stop the loop it just controls the speed at which the wheel comes up. On my r1 the wheel would just hover like 6 inches off the ground and stay there throughout the rev range so it's nuts to see how high the same control unit let's these bikes rise. I get my xsr tomorrrow😎
That’s good to know. It is pretty amazing how high you can get these bikes with the lift control. Congratulations on the new bike.
I ride mode 2 TCS 1 on the XSR and it'll rip up to 45 degrees and just stop there before dropping the wheel back down.
@@RJBiteanerd ya I think I would enjoy the wheelie side more on tcs 1 but BC 1 cuts out the lean sensitive abs which I've had save my life on my r1 so I leave it on BC 2 and 1 everywhere else personally. (Edited )
@@admireinspire Ive never seen and can't find anything now that TCS1 kills cornering abs. Do you have something to read up on that?
@@RJBiteanerd as far as reading no bit I've watched every single cp3 platform review and some of them mention it. I can't recall which offhand but it kind of makes sense lowering the mode will lessen intervention and corning abs is an intervention. There's a review with a British guy interviewing a yamaha rep about the rider modes I think that's the most informative one but the launch event guys I think mention the abs tcs1 thing in a video or two.
Hey bro, thank you very much for the great tutorial. I have the same bike and I am learning from you a lot. You gave me so much confident thanks man.
My pleasure bro! I'm glad I could help and thank you for watching the video I hope you will check out more of them.
I just run TCS off now but I came from having a 2015 fz09. TCS off makes shifting and keeping the front wheel in the air easy. Just takes some getting used to cause the front wheel will come up fast
I’ll definitely give that a shot
Good content👌🏻looking forward to more vids from you 👍🏻
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it and there will be plenty more to come.
Solid bro, I'm figuring mine out as well, freshly dyno tuned, very bucky now.
Yes, and very fun
Great video 👏🏻the video Quality is on point and damn you got wheels downnnnn
Thank you 🙏
good work! commenting for support!
Sick video! Loved seeing the effect of different modes. Off topic question.. what chain slack are u running? I keep hearing factory spec is tight, but i like how it feels.
Thank you 🙏 my chain was always pretty lose since I bought the bike and i recently tightened it up and the shifts feel way smoother. I’m not sure what the slack is I just kinda eyeballed it
What flash do you have?
Can you look with this system?
Will the lift control maintain the wheelie?
And what rpm is the best to do power-wheelies?
No it will just prevent you from looping but I would not trust it a 100% always keep your foot ready on your rear brake and regulate your throttle once you lift. I would say between 5-8k
@@SOCALMOTOBROS okay 👍 thank you, its important to learn to use the rear brake 😂
2023 XSR900 here.. Wow.. thanks for the demo of how it limits the lift. Would of never tried it, but now I know. Can you shift mid lift w/o it flipping?
You did it! tank grips it is.. thanks again!
You’re welcome. Yes, you can shift without flipping. I’ve got up to 3rd with no issues.
Thank u bro! Good video, so is it safe to put the lift control on the 1 tcs 1 and power mod 2???
Yes, but just take your time and get a feel for it.
Useful info here..thanks 🤙What gloves are those?
Thank you! I don't remember, I'll get back to you lol
Okay nice video with info About DMODE AND TCS what About lift control? Which mode u are using in this video?
I use 1 and power mode 2
@@SOCALMOTOBROS so lift control 1? Or tcs?
@pankral450 tcs mode 1 which makes lift control 1 and traction control 1
@@SOCALMOTOBROS ouuu thank u man, sooo best settings for first try wheelies is D MODE 3,2 and TCS 2 right? And after D MÓDE 2 TCS 1 like u show on video
@pankral450 you're welcome. Yes, that would be recommended for your first attempt
I run power mode 1 tcs manual with lif on 1 and i pick it up 1st around 30 and can hold it through 2nd and into third up about 10 sometimes 110clock if i hit it good and up till about 85 90mph
I’ve gotten up to third gear. I’m eventually going to turn off lift control cause you can’t really wheelie in second gear cause it cuts power almost immediately
@@SOCALMOTOBROS yep I've tried clutch ups 2nd tcs light flashes and just drops ya
I've turned it all off shit myself and turned it all back on again🤣🤣😂
Is it pretty aggressive with everything turned off?
Very aggressive coming up but will stay up as long as u want lol
I need to try it
Did you make any adjustments to the shocks front and rear? If so what did you set them at if you don't mind me asking!
No I didn’t make any adjustments
@SoCalMotoBros I soften extension and tighten compression for when it comes down. It definitely comes up way faster and I'm just learning wheelies but It will go pass 4th gear just in a power wheelie.
Oh really? I’ll definitely have to do that.
@SoCalMotoBros but I can tell you from experience that with lift on level 1 it will loop💯 so please don't count on it saving you. Unless you're bike is different than mine. Sucks cause it's a feature on the bike so we thought it wouldn't but it never even tried to stop it! Be safe bro and keep videos coming.
I believe it cause there have been times where it feels like it’s going to keep lifting.
good content bro it is going to help me a lot on my new 2024 mt09 so i have enough experience from mt07 just asking tcs and power mode 1 will let me wheelie but will keep me safe at the same time right? it wont let me loop the bike (asking since there was no electronic on my old mt07) and another question was the LIF on ?
I'm glad I could help. I would recommend power mode 2 because 1 is too twitchy and yes, lift control is on.
@@SOCALMOTOBROSso you can’t flip the bike when LIF is on but your limited to wheelie length/height or you have to keep it steady at a certain height so that the LIF doesn’t kick in and you could keep going ?
@jackmatt1022 Yes and no. My bike is tuned, so it may differ from a stock bike but it seems my computer is learning cause I'm able to reach near balance point which Is way higher than what it's supposed to allow you to reach.
@@SOCALMOTOBROS oké Nice bro thanks for fast response I’ll be getting mine in a week maybe I’ll do a flash next month because I’m putting on the leovince lv race exhaust
@jackmatt1022 My pleasure! Congratulations, you won't be disappointed! I've never heard that exhaust but I'm sure it sounds amazing
How is the on off throttle response…jerkiness, snatchiness or lack there of…considering one of these? And is this the standard or SP? Not sure what you mean by delayed throttle response? What flash?
This is a standard MT09 with a ECU flash from vcyclenut. Any modern vehicle has a delay when you accelerate for safety standards that manufacturers have to follow. When you tune your vehicle you are able to bypass that delay in acceleration. Hope this helps.
@@SOCALMOTOBROS Thanks.
What gear and how fast are initiating the wheelie? It looks like you aren’t doing clutch-ups?
First gear and you want to be in the mid rpm range for peak power.
No clutch up just power wheelies. The nice thing with this bike is you don’t need to do clutch ups unless your in a higher gear.
Have you messed with LIF settings at all or just going with the default TCS modes?
Mostly the default settings but I can make a video messing around with the other settings if you would like?
@@SOCALMOTOBROS lif is tied to the tcs mode, configurable only in tcs mode manual. all lif settings are no loop, just lift speed is changed. BTW weelies are a lot easier with lif off, even lif 1 is severely limiting the weelies
What gear are you normally on and what rpm rangewhen doing wheelies and lif-0?
Mostly first cause any time I try second it breaks up a lot. I usually have lift set to 1
Hey man, great vid! I ride the same bike and have a couple of questions. When you do 1st gear power ups are you hitting the throttle stop every time? It seems like you’re moving so slow at the start, maybe 2k? I was shocked you lifted it in d-4! I generally ride in 1-1 but in twisties. Sometimes I’ll get the front to hover a bit but I’m mostly over the bars more so it doesn’t happen often. I want to play with these power mode wheelies a bit but I’m curious how much throttle you’re giving it. Maybe try it in 4 and hit the stop first? When I’ve tried it I’m up around 5k but it doesn’t lift. Maybe I’m over the bars too much, or not giving it enough throttle. All I know is I’m moving when I do it. I’d like to start slower like you did. Thanks bro
It’s honestly just a lot of practice and learning where your power is in the rpm range. I run power mode 2 and tcs 1 and my ECU is flashed which makes a big difference. The best technique I found is to let off throttle pull up on your bars and give it full throttle. I’ll make an updated video and showcase all my techniques and go more in depth about the rpm range to be in.
@@SOCALMOTOBROS Ok, so reporting back. 1st gear, d-4 lift 3, roll on, roll off, wide open throttle comes up EASY! Switched to d-2 (my daily mode) and even easier because wide open throttle isn’t required. But, do you notice your traction light flashing when you do it? I need to go practice lift 2-1 after I’m more comfortable with it. I’m assuming I’m freaking out the IMU at lift 3. Super easy even in 3
Yes, it comes on all the time because it’s sensing that you’re losing traction. Just take your time and get use to how the bike comes up and always hover over your rear brake. I’m at the point now where I can almost get to balance point with lift control on and it’s almost like the ECU learns with you because I remember before it would cut power and drop me down but now I can get the bike nearly to balance point and it doesn’t cut power.
@@SOCALMOTOBROS So update to my update incase people read all the comments. Played with D-2, LIF 1 today. Comes up much easier on a first gear roll on. Same thing. Roll on, chop off, then maybe 50% throttle and it’s up. Not sure how far but feels decent.
Also did some testing in the same settings but doing clutch ups in second gear. Covering the rear brake Incase the IMU can’t keep up. I’m just learning the timing and might get 6-7 out of 10 tries. Need a few more days messing with it. IMU does freak out a bit. I suspect soon once I’m used to it more I’ll try it with TC/lift off second gear clutch ups. Good progress in just a few days.
Great video brother!! Ride safe my friend🙏
Thank you 🙏
Hey man I know exactly where that bridge is you’re at, I’m not too far away. I have a Suzuki GSX S1000 and I’ve been trying to wheelie for awhile now. My problem is instead of the bike popping up smoothly like a 250 dirt bike would, its pulling hard and only coming up like a foot
Oh really? That’s dope! Are you trying to do a clutch up or power wheelie?
@@SOCALMOTOBROS Power but trying clutch ups too. Someone told me I need to roll off the throttle then roll back on for power wheelies. I was just giving it a lot of gas while going slow. Might need to sit back farther too
That is true but the most important part is to be in the right RPM range. What RPM are you typically at when trying to power wheelie?
@@SOCALMOTOBROS I haven’t really checked but I know it’s in the low rpm range maybe 4-6k
I know this will make me sound like a hater. But I dont believe you when you say "chipped is night and day difference you can't do this on a non chipped MT09" That sounds incorrect on both counts. I have the same bike.
A fully dynamic tuned mt09 will have top speed limit removed, fueling adjustments for high flow exhaust and the rest you probably won't even notice unless they remap the throttle response to be slightly less twitchy. No real power gains to be had with this bike from a "chip"
Would love to be proved wrong. Please show me before and after night and day results
TSC mode OFF, just it :)
what about the lift modes
I use lift 1, but for starters, I would try 2
By "stabilizer" do you mean steering damper?? I dont think that would help at all ....pulling right is either you or something is off like rear wheel axle alignement but prolly just your posture/weight distribution on pegs or whatever is my guess
It doesn’t need one for wheelies it needs one for stability. The front is extremely light and with the amount of power the mt09 has the tire doesn’t always make full contact with the ground which causes wobble
Why you close the throttle when you do wheelies ? Why you play with the gas?? Just keep it full speed and shift !
Coz he ain't got a clue that's why
Greta vid. Haven’t taken it out of power mode 1. Honestly I haven’t messed with TCS modes yet but she comes up nice most of the time. I haven’t covered my rear brake also. Lol. Your getting good at those power wheelies. I’ve honestly been considering the MT 10.
Thank you and I’ve also been considering the MT10. I was looking at the new 2023 and it’s pretty sweet.
@@SOCALMOTOBROS yeah it is a sweet bike. Also mor weight and stable when leaning it over in the twisties. The only downside is all the work we put in and taking a loss on the trade in. I think the dealer told me 7000 on a trade in.
You arent nearly high enough and you are on and off the throttle way too much.
this mod 1 , have an impact at your driving ? you know , 1 mod keep you on kind of train rails ?? !
Cause averybody said how playful is the Tracer 900 and Mt09 ,but when i ride it , i didnt find it playful at all .
Now... this conclusion is falty cause the bike was set at mod 1 when i ride it ??????
Mode 1 makes the throttle half as long. So 50% throttle in mode 1 is 100% throttle in mode 2, there's no difference in power.
Bike will power wheelie in first and second gear easy, and can clutch up in first second and third.
The bike accelerates 0-60mph in about 3.3 seconds, so it's faster than basically everything on the road from a stop
Mans sounds like bakerx derek
You have not even reached power cut off for wheelies you keep feathering throttle pin that shit then quick shift it into second and put it down smoothly... and if you wheelie up hills make sure you dont rely on the nannies to keep you safe it will throw off the sensors
Never had bike pull tothe right you doing something wrong man
not to be all negative but as wheelies go? Pretty lackluster no where near the balance point ....not that I am interested in being all the way up there these days just saying those are not REAL full on "riding wheelies" idk maybe the modes wont allow it for all I know lots of examples of actual real wheelies for example ua-cam.com/users/shortslumzc1coKjc Difference between momentary lofting under acceleration vs actual "riding a wheelie" riding one entails throttle control to maintain balance point much different game than briefly glofting under acceleration which always peters out with drop at end of the gear... I am pretty lousy at myself honestly unless Im on the right bike. I had an old 600XL that turned me into instant pro WHEN riding THAT bike lol ...I could ride one through the gears as long as there was road in front of me ...other high power sport bikes? Short ones and I chckened out, I slammed my old Honda Shlepter and came down so hard it cracked the fairing ....was a pathetic moment for me but that bike was a gutless pig so I asked for it clutching it up like that! But the XL? Just powered up at will it was like they designed it to wheeiy! Maybe it was the dual carbs on a single cylinder IDK or the weight distribution and gearing? or a combo of everything? Later big honda singles never had that sweet ability even the XR650R which wheelied too easy was too scary to ride wheelies on very far! one lapse of concentration and youd be on your head!
No worries you are entitled to your own opinion but I was never trying to get to balance point. I’m simply showcasing what the mt09 can do with lift controls turned on.
So I watched this whole video and never once seen an actual wheelie? I just bought a brand new mt09 and this TCS & ABS is garbage, how do you turn this crap off to do proper wheelies
one of those ppl who ride with highbeams on. meh
