Its sad to see hux's character get reduced to a ragdoll like this. In episode 9 concept art/scripts, Hux was supposed to command a massive first order attack on the last bastions of Resistance fighters on Coruscant. After the battle started to sway in the Resistance's favor and the First Order was loosing badly, he was going to grab a lightsaber from a collection of artifacts he had collected over the years and stab himself through the chest with it. He was going to be a zealous First Order leader until the bitter end instead of going from a ranting, raving Nazi like character that ordered the destruction of several planets to just suddenly saying "iM tHe SpY" out of nowhere then getting shot.
@@CypherAMG they tried to make it funny but its super cringe cheap writing that they made hux a convenient plot point for the good guys. I literally found his death to be embarrassingly bad

It's funny that the character found a second life in fanfiction, where he has, I don't know, character, life motivations, and a place in the plot. On ep 7 after his speech i was convinced that he was going to be a character that we are supposed to treat seriously. This entire trilogy was teaching people how not to build charecters.
People reacted to ep 7 like „oh he’s like space Hitler“ and Disney didn’t like that. They ruined the only „straight white male“ who acted like „space Hitler“ so people could make fun of him. It’s like Disney said „here here look, he’s not supposed to be a threatening antagonist, he’s a joke now, not even a real character lol“. So shameful
Its baffling - to build such a potentially interesting character, only to bring them down to garbage level. I bet it would be quite something to get actor Domhnall Gleeson´s honest take on this.
When was he badass? People have always made fun of him. He's not a new version of Tarkin. He would like to be but he isn't. He's a child. It's the same with Kylo Ren. He'd like to be the new Vader but he isn't.

It lends credence to the theory that J.J. and Ryan were fighting like children over their toys between the movies. J.J. wanted to make Hux a leader and a primary villain that was taken seriously, and Ryan just degraded and made fun of him. Once his character was a laughing stock, J.J. continued his vision of the character in Admiral Pride who literally killed and replaced him. What a pathetic waste of an interesting character and idea. Too late! Hux and Kylo Ren ran off together before the third, disastrous, film could take place. They are living happily ever after in a sekrit location, and only occasionally perform low-grade Evil (eating porgs, for example). Also, Kylo has given Armitage a safe word, so our General now only takes the kind of abuse he actually wants.
