South Africa has this thing called "Loadshedding" basically our electricity system is stuffed and they are putting us into state-controlled blackouts. We use inverters and battery "generators" such as these to keep things going, wi-fi and communications are the main thing. Travelling and holidaying without your inverter resulted in the acquisition of the 1st generation EcoFlow River Max to just keep the basic electrical things usable during 2 to 4 hour rolling blackouts ranging from TWO hours to TWELVE hours in a single day. Since the 6th of September 2022 I think there has been only ONE whole day without a "loadshedding" schedule. SO these battery Generators have become an essential tool to keep functioning "normally". And NOW South Africa is going into winter so the expectation is to have at least 6 to 8 hours a day of NO power. Thanks for always being informative. I would eventually love to add a solar panel to the EcoFlow I have..

Oh wow! We have load shedding as well, but you can volunteer for it, and you get a small discount on your bill. They only control large appliances like ovens and dishwashers.

    We retired in our RV.
To us, the River 2 pro is everything!
Most times we can't crank up the gas generator, but "Flow" always comes through like the country Kitchen waitress we name her after!
She warms our kitchen in the morning, makes our coffee, and recharges for movie night to be a nightly accurence!

Your mention of a deteriorating power grid is very true for us folks in South Africa. We have 3 or 4 scheduled 2 hour blackouts per day, now going up to 4 hour blackouts. Looking at this and the Delta 2 with third party solar as a good options for a minimal appliances like a TV & modern fridge.

How long does it last when using the cpap?

  • @martinkorinek5489
    @martinkorinek5489 Рік тому +10

    Just a rough calculation:
    Capacity: 768 Wh
    Consumption: 824W
    Test time: 43:53 ~ 44 min
    Nominal time:
    768 Wh / 824 W = 0,932 hod
    (768Wh = 824W * 0,932 hod)
    60 min * 0,932 = 55,92 min
So it should last 56 min, but it lasted only 44 min.
    56 min ~ 100%
    44 min ~ ??
    44 / (56/100) = 78%
So the efficiency is close to 80% for 824W consumption - can be a lot different for small consumption like 10W USB charger.

Very good review. I would use this for a variety of things. From having a little juice for power outages, keep the internet up and running, to recharging my electronics during power outages (tablet, laptop, phone) to recharging my drone batteries while flying. I also enjoy off-roading and camping with my Jeep, so maybe this could power a mini-fridge, my k-cup coffee maker, and MAYBE a hotplate, though I would probably use propane for that. Great review and keep up the good work here at 51 Drones!

I work in construction and I do a lot of CAD on my computer. however its pretty much dead after 45 min of high intensity use and its not an option to charg it in the car so I will use that as a buffer when I am on site. AND I can charg it in the car while driving without doing some wierd conversion and risk sucking my car batteries dry. Just an awesome little thing!

I'm always late to the party, so i just bought my OG River last summer and added the expandable battery for $109, so I'm going to stick with that a many years to come. A Delta Pro may prove to be part of our emergency power solution, however. I like the concept of running the home from that and charging the Delta Pro from a generator during daytime hours for a multi-day outage.

As a tv cameraman i can need power in all sorts of of equipment in different places for different time spans, i have also looked into having a system installed in my car that would void the warranty and be costly to do plus have to do this every-time i change the vehicle.
These systems seems to be the logical solution, love the quick charging feature so popping into McDonald's for a coffee would be good. Getting the right capacity is the important part ! I'm needing to charge V-lock camera batteries, power a Starlink and LiveU throughout the day, not forgetting the mobile phone!

Great product overview thanks. Would love to see the different models compared and potential use explained as well. I use mine (and yes I am a young granddad) as a power back up for my cpap machine, as we have severe power outages in South Africa, called ‘load shedding’, for up to 12 hrs in a day. It also goes with me in my SUV, everywhere I go, to ensure I have portable power for my drones, laptops, iPads, phones and action camera. It is the single most important item to pack when I travel.

in my opinion, i don't care about the wireless charging, i would rather put things on the top without having to charge up the cellphones. im using the ecoflow river 2 pro as a backup for the computer, and tbh, i like it. since i can have it run upwards to 7 to 10 hours of runtime
i will be getting the ecoflow river 2 max. since that has much much more time than 10 hours like 24 hours. since my computer isn't running that much wattage like 30 to 100 watts or so. im running 2 moniters atm. right now i have the APC hooked up to the ecoflow river 2 pro, which is another 50 minutes or so, close to an hour. so i can have upwards to 11 hours.
im using the ecoflow river 2 pro as a UPS as well too, to power up my tower desktop computer incase theres any power outages!

Hi, thanks for your review of the EcoFlow River Pro 2. Here in Laval, near Montreal, Canada, the electricity in my neighborhood is very unreliable. To address this issue, I purchased that River Pro2 along with a 160W EcoFlow solar panel. In the event of the next blackout, I hope to be able to connect my fridge to it, and I'm optimistic that it will help maintain the cold temperature, preventing me from losing all of my food.

I have a 160w EcoFlow solar panel and it works great. I really don't like the case turning into a stand. It is a beautiful case, but the support like you're showing that it changes into just sucks to me. If this just had an optional stand legs that just came out like on the Bluetti and other brands for example which I think are a lot more sturdy would be much better then this. Also, why is there no pouch built into the case to help store a few cables? The cables that come off are way hard and also way short. 3' of cable is pretty janky when others give you over 3 meters of cable to plug into.
The charging is great and boy these things are seriously waterproof! I have never seen portable solar panels you see people litterally stick into a river and it charges just fine! That is a huge win for EcoFlow!

We like that it can stay in the car and get charged while driving around. Plus when it came time to swap out cars with a new one we could do that our self's and not have to out source it. Working in the northeast we wonder how it would work in the cold. Might try and get one for testing.

We were caught off guard without ANY battery backup(who could forsee the entire state would be without power for days!?!?). We were afraid to even use our phones(we didnt even have any small portable chargers). Being able to have enough power for the essentials, will bring us peace of mind.

I bought it. Happy with it, except for the fan noise. Too much for how I use the River 2 Pro. I saw a video of a guy that changed the fans, but I think that gives warranty issues. If you have a better idea to make the River 2 Pro more silent, please tell!

824W for 43 minutes is about 79% efficiency I think. Not great, if accurate. Another reviewer measured 88%, which is pretty good.

Where you aware of the noisy fan? I had my MacBook Air, a webcam and a mic running by ecoflow while on a zoom meeting. After 20 min. the fan started blowing in the middle of the zoom meeting not funny.

Started out with a River 2 and quickly realized...not enough capacity to last a day or two of Winter carCamping/ tentCamping: running two 50w (AC) heating pads, maybe a 200w (AC) micro heater and recharge iPad and phone.
Would it make better sense to get two River 2 Pros (1536Wh) or one EF Delta 2 (1024Wh)?

I got it for cold weather camping too. I don't have experience with it yet but a UA-camr used this power station to power the same diesel heater I bought. Good luck out there.

Wireless chargers are fairly inefficient, perhaps not what you want on battery power.

When you charge it full, do you have to keep it plugged in if you wont use it and want to have it in case of an outage. Will it hold the power if you unplug it?

To answer your question I went over and turned on my EF River 2 Pro that has been turned off for over a month and it is still charged to 99% so the answerer is yes it does hold its charge.

Sadly Ecoflow comes up with another noisy inverter. I like their products but am a radio operator and the inverter makes it impossible;so Ecoflow for lights, 12V frig etc. But I have to use other vendors for portable radio. Maybe someday they will upgrade their inverters.

I'm struggling to see why anyone should pay for the huge price premium for ecoflow over other power stations. The VDL 1500 watt for example has similar features, bigger battery and almost double the power on the inverter for less money.
