  • We are half way through the rendering on this old house and can’t wait to move on. The good thing is, it’s satisfying to see the results. Bit of effort always feels good.
Good opportunity to do a spot of welding too.

Those bugs are the larvae of the may bug …. I think, chickens love em’! House is coming along very nicely, just goes to show what that little extra time in the detail does.

Can’t wait for the life sized elephant sculpture. ‼️‼️🐘. The area outside the bus is looking nice with the bamboo etc. Electric welding in the rain - with lightening. Exciting show this evening. ‼️. 👍❤️💐

Andrew, for the welding if you were to turn the piece you are welding so it is flat it would make it a bit easier (while you are learning). Thanks for the videos

I see Eddie is still around, great little dog , looks very affectionate. Lots of storms in the Mediterranean already , so you will most probably get a lashing as well . Reno taking on another look outside, well done .

Hi Andy. Rendering looks a lot like sanding wood, have done years of it. Tedious and takes a long time. Great job on the chimney, a labour of love, a piece of history, beautiful, I bet they don't make them like that anymore. Great to see some rain and experience that. Thank you for the update, Love from New Zealand

You, Andrew, are in the very right place for you. Whatever you find, you can make other essential things out of it, wherever you go you ameliorate things around you.
After you have made such a treasure of the initial situation I feel sorry for the fact that you are going not to live in it. But, of course, your plans are not to be changed...
    Rendering has proved pretty good!!!

Andy, on UA-cam there are videos on how to work the rod so there’s penetration and metal buildup from the rod. In the beginning you might want to weld the pieces in a flat position. Not up or down. It takes a lot of practice. And resting one arm against something stabilizes ether welding arm nd hand. Gotta have stability so you have control of the tip of the rod. Your welding arm floating in air is almost impossible to control the rod in those tiny movements needed.

Hi Andy when u stick weld don’t weld straight move very slightly left and right so the weld layers and then when you grind it down you will get a better finish. And when you weld thick steel always angle the edges so the two edges go together they form a v. Hope this helps my father was a welder so I just learned on the job best regards Andy from Felixstowe uk.

That Chimney has a real Moorish element about it. - I know what you mean about that Thunderstorm directly above you. Wait until you narrowly miss being hit by a lightening strike! Don't expose youself during a Thunderstorm, especially with so much metal about! - Where are the Chickens? If they didn't all die of heat exhaustio, feed those grubs to them!
