- In this video we join William and Dan on the banks of the Zambezi River photographing Carmine Bee Eaters and sharing their top bird photography tips and tricks. Carmine Bee Eaters are beautiful birds and migratory visitors to Africa and always a joy to photograph.

A pretty awesome sight. I'm very envious. You did a great job. Thanks for the tips and guidance. I'm certainly not strong enough to carry/hold those f2.8 lenses. Nowadays the most weight I can muster is my Nikkor 400mm f/4.5 though I'm entirely happy with the results from it and it's remarkably light. I hope one day I can see the Carmine Bee-Eater too having seen Asian Green Bee-Eater in Tadoba, India recently.

what an absolutely wonderful birds, and they are not afraid :) in Poland we have couple nesting places of bee-eaters, but they are very skittish

Great location, what AF setting would you recommend using? I use Cannon R6.
thks for the handy tip on using f8 as my photos always has blur on the wing tips.If I go higher on f stop say f11 what would be the advantage/disadvantage .That would be capturing bee eaters and similar sizes.

Is Oct-Nov the only time of year to photograph these bee-eaters?
These bee-eaters can be seen for most of the year in small numbers but only nest between September and late November, as seen here.
