    When I first got my cavalier a year and a half ago I struggled so much finding a good kibble brand. The vets recommended the worst food with all kinds of terrible ingredients and that’s when I knew I had to do my own research. I probably switched the kibble brand every month because I didn’t like the ingredients in it, it came to a point where I was so stressed googling every ingredient in the dog food that I decided to switch to a raw diet that way I know what i’m feeding her. Now after feeding her raw for about 8 months I feel confident that she’s getting the appropriate food and don’t have to worry about harsh ingredients found in kibble. She is so energetic, she has silky soft fur, pearly white teeth and absolutely loves every last bit of her meals.

      YES! Vets are so against raw but veterinary nutritionist praise it. Have you seen the documentary Pet Fooled? Changed my whole perspective on the dog food industry, and encouraged me to feed raw(:

      @@SydneyFrancia Sydney I love your videos. I'm getting a Cavalier puppy next weekend. He is 10 weeks old and 4lbs . He is my first puppy and I'm very nervous. Will you please tell me how much food I need to feed my puppy daily? Thanks😊

      @@callmemr71 Hi there! If you don't mind me asking, but are you going with a breeder or rescue? If you're going with a breeder, I recomend asking how they feed their dogs. But when Slater was 12 weeks and 6 pounds he was eating 1/4 cup 3 times a day on kibble. Then I increased it to 3/4 cups twice a day at 6 months since he's very active.

    High protein diets do not negatively affect cavas. A lot of cavas do really well on a raw diet which is very high protein. If your cava is allergic to chicken, there are tons of other proteins to try

    I’m in a cava group on Facebook and was told (by most of the members), that brands like Royal Canin (Cavalier) and Pedigree were not so suitable for Cavaliers (or any dog breed for that matter), as it does contain some things/ingredients in it, that are not good for the dogs digestion - HOWEVER, yes, it all depends on what your breeder is giving the dogs, and different dogs adapt to different food... but I’ve bought all the food that my breeder is giving their dogs/ puppies, but I’ve also bought another brand called Taste of the Wild, which I’ll be slowly introducing to my puppy, as the breeder/family does give them pedigree, and I’m trying to stay away from that... but yeah, I couldn’t agree more with you in this video!! ❤️

    Go Raw! I’ve been feeding raw for 2 years for my three Cavaliers. It’s easy. Trust yourself. I suggest reading, reading, reading. Learning, learning, learning. The biggest takeaway I learned is two things...1. Keep it simple and 2. Balance over time ( not every meal). You will find what works for you and your puppy. Two of my dogs had sensitive stomachs. Went directly to raw with them.

    How much should I feed my 8 week old cavalier puppy? I know it should be divided into 3/4 meals but how much in total? Wet food and dry food

    • @SydneyFrancia
      @SydneyFrancia  3 роки тому

      It depends on how active he is. When I got Slater at 12 weeks I feed him 1/4 a cup three times a day. Then when he got older I gradually boosted it to a half a cup twice a day. Now that he’s a little older but still super active I feed him 3/4 a cup twice a day but I will probably reduce that when he becomes older and his metabolism slows down.

    Any dog chow with salmon in it is NOT recommended. This is because the salmon that is used is not wild-caught, but originates from fish farms which typically means that you are dealing with fish that are fed loads of antibiotics, growth hormones, pesticides and fungicides, all of which are necessary when they raise alot of fish in very close proximity to one another (as opposed to wild caught salmon who only group during migrations up-river when its spawning time). Your dog was more than likely defecating alot to compensate for the introduction of chemicals into his body.

    • @SydneyFrancia
      @SydneyFrancia  3 роки тому

      Didn't know that! I have to do more research on that fersure.

    • @Aldamiras
      @Aldamiras 3 роки тому

      @@SydneyFrancia There is alot of politics/business interest in farmed salmon. Watch this video about Canada's crooked fish farms, which are poisoning wild species of salmon: ua-cam.com/video/fTCQ2IA_Zss/v-deo.html. It's no surprise that you haven't heard of this thusfar, as the whole industry has kept information from reaching the public which could be harmful to it. I realise that you have since switched switched your Cavaliers to a raw-based diet and that is very smart. I would say to partially cook their food as well to avoid any organisms that may be present. :)

    You have to be so careful.

    • @SydneyFrancia
      @SydneyFrancia  3 роки тому

      It’s rare for dogs to get salmonella because their stomachs are very acidic. But feeding raw in general you have to be careful to ensure it’s balanced correctly and super fresh :)

    • @sophias1670
      @sophias1670 4 місяці тому

      The risk is just as high, if not higher with kibble. There have been several kibble recalls because of salmonella contraction.
