That was dope. You don't see Blackstone do many interviews. Adam and Pino are the two greatest active journeymen bassists alive - boundless musical vocabulary and incomparable taste.
Been an AB fan from before his stardom. Great guy, great musician. If you wanna see that Lakland Skyline really shine, search “Jill Scott Soulstage”. That whole set is amazing. Adam did all the arrangements, the kid drummer is awesome, and AB KILLS the bass!
I love that he uses production model basses, and not even the crazy expensive ones! Lakland Skyline stuff, etc. I had a Lakland Skyline 55-01 years ago, but sold it when I was broke as shit. I still regret it!
Such a great video. Having had a chance to meet Adam “Bump” on a few brief occasions he has most definitely been an inspiration and someone I admire at this point. Thanks Scott for the content!
Great review of Adam’s instruments. My favorite review would be Marcus Miller’s instruments, especially the ones he uses in the studio. He has an impressive collection outside of his world famous 77 jazz bass.
What an easy-going, humble guy. Can't believe such a superstar bassman talking as he talks. He's so thankful to the people who helped him. Great interview!
Beautiful collection. But great stories behind the instruments. This guy looks so humble and cool. Tks for this video the best ever made on this series
I sold Adam a 6 string ken smith bass around 2000 after we went to a jazz camp together. Never got to see him play it but I am sure it was put to good use. Love his playing!
I would love to see Peter Hook. One of my favorite bassists and has a super unique way of playing! In Joy Division and New Order he is a bass legend! Perfect candidate for Bass Tales.
That was excellent! Definitely a bass player's bass player! Speaking of which, how about a session with Tony Levin? That new Liquid Tension Experiment disc is killer!
This is a great video! I knew that Adam was a great bassist and an in-demand MD. I didn't know that he has a jazz background and played upright! Very revealing!
I would love to see Marko Hietala. He's been with Nightwish until recently, when unfortunately he decided to step away from the time being. So I might be wishing for unobtanium.
I was a bike messenger in phila around the time he was recording. I used to get jobs delivering stuff in plain brown paper bags, no questions asked, to quest loves studio when they were all there recording.
Hello, it could be amazing to ask Jeff Ament to talk aboiut the basses he played on Pearl Jam first album « Ten ». There’s no regular bass on this album : fretlless, 8 string or 12 string, and a fuzz box. Thank you, bye !
We need a Bass Tales with Pino Palladino!
I'd love to see Geddy Lee. That guy has an amazing story to tell
I think les Claypool
Damn, I was thinking les claypool lol
Geddy would need at least an hour.
It would be amazing to see Flea, you can’t do this series without him.
He is the reason why many bass players are now what they are.
Big Love!
YES!!! 🔥
Absolutely right! Flea is the reason why I started playing bass!
That was dope. You don't see Blackstone do many interviews. Adam and Pino are the two greatest active journeymen bassists alive - boundless musical vocabulary and incomparable taste.
I've been DYING to see this man on this channel. Best MD and arranger in the world. Unmatched.
Awesome, Les Claypool
YES! 🔥
That would be great!!!

I'd love to see McCartney here!
Not a popular choice but Rex Brown, John Campbell, and Justin Chancellor. These three are killer pick players and need some love
I’d say those are three of the most popular choices! Great taste in bassists btw👍
Definitely Justin Chancellor would be a great choice but I also Billy Gould - hugely underrated!
@@christopherkowalski9971 billy gould only has one bass zoom 4 strings so nooo
Cody Wright falls somewhere in there as well.
Guy Pratt! I wanna see Guy Pratts Bass Collection! I know you did a interview with him a while ago.
or Pino Palladino
Thanks for the encouragement! Would love to see a Bass Tales episode with Lee Sklar.
If love to see Rob Trujillo and hear the stories behind some of his basses. Mr. Blackstone has possibly talked me into an upright lol
609!!! Whenever you saw Adam pull up to the gig you knew you were in for a treat! He smashed everything in the tri state growing up
of all the SBL videos I have watch this one is THE BEST
This was perfect and a privilege to watch the master Adam Blackstone in his confort zone. So inspirational. Well done.

More of Adam Blackstone!!!!
I sold Adam a 6 string ken smith bass around 2000 after we went to a jazz camp together. Never got to see him play it but I am sure it was put to good use. Love his playing!
Michael League!!!
Already filmed and in the can... keep a lookout! 🙌
I would love to see Peter Hook. One of my favorite bassists and has a super unique way of playing! In Joy Division and New Order he is a bass legend! Perfect candidate for Bass Tales.
Awesome feature. My ignorance is clearly showing as I did not know about this guy but his resume is crazy
That was excellent! Definitely a bass player's bass player! Speaking of which, how about a session with Tony Levin? That new Liquid Tension Experiment disc is killer!
What a great episode.
What a great guy.
To add to my last comment: Why Marcus Miller uses a certain instrument on a given track/ project.
Anton Zhikharev,
(Insane Death Machine)
...phenomenal mastery of fingerstyle 6 string bass. He has compositions at 300 bpm... FINGERSTYLE!
John patitucci!
This is a great video! I knew that Adam was a great bassist and an in-demand MD. I didn't know that he has a jazz background and played upright! Very revealing!
I'd love to see a bass tales with Steve Harris, such a metal bass legend would be amazing.
That would be AMAZING. Leave it with me ;)
I agree: Steve Harris
@@devinebass Can't wait!
I want to see that.
@LCP71 He did play a Lado Bass for. a while, so the story of 2 basses
One of the shot callers in the industry!
I gave this suggestion a couple months back... so cool to see it
Great video! I'd love to see Pino Palladino and all his P basses, and Larry Graham who got me into Funk music and slap bass!
Linley Marthe!!! Unique ingenious and he played for/with the late Joe Zawinul Syndicate until Joe had to stop...
We need Bass Tales with Felix Pastorius!! Great video Scotts!! Keep up with the good work.
I would love to see Marko Hietala. He's been with Nightwish until recently, when unfortunately he decided to step away from the time being. So I might be wishing for unobtanium.
You know a guest is good when he doesn't have to play anything. (Apart from the upright bass in the end).
Is that not a Lakland 55-02? Looking at the mic setup...
Very cool guy, and very good video. I like how you can feel he likes his electric basses, but loooves his upright.
Michael Manring with his Zon Hyperbass - the dude's a freak, with a freaky frikn bass!
The way his fretting fingers move is hypnotizing
That bass is fly af. I need one
Geddy would be the dream guest obviously
I found out about Adam years ago on the kill Scott live recording 🔥🔥he is a monster!!!!
I went to high school with Adam... he's been setting it off his entire life... he used to shake the lunch room.
I think a bass tales with Robert Trujillo! First of all, he has some killer looking basses, but also he is the curator of Jaco’s Bass of Doom
Do one of your own, Mr Ian Martin Allison! Or Mike Kerr from Royal Blood
The one and only Alex Al total beast!! 👍🏾💯
I was a bike messenger in phila around the time he was recording. I used to get jobs delivering stuff in plain brown paper bags, no questions asked, to quest loves studio when they were all there recording.
Awesome video, would love to see Eric "Pikfunk" Smith for sure!!
Man, what passion!
Where did you get the bass wrapped? The information is most appreciated.
Could you please talk to steve di giorgio? He's the guy that created the trend of fretless in tech metal bands.
3:40 i'm seeing a pattern. Is victor bailey just wooten and steve Bailey fused into one?
You should do a video on Mick Karn ! Such a great player
RIP
$500!!! Dayum for that lakland hell yeah... love relationships like that between builders and players
More bassists who have worked in hip hop please!
When are we going to see Marcus Miller on SBL?!?!?!
Love to see Rufus Philpot or Pino Paladino or Flea
Look at all that gear man. I'll sleep in there definitely.
You gotta get Trujillo on, the dude has an INSANE collection of basses :DDD
Henrik Linder!!
Nice job! How about a Bass Tales with Mark King?
I’d like to see Meshelle Ndgeocello, Roco Palladino, Pino Palladino, Bubby Lewis and Raphael Saadiq.
Awesome!
Kevin Wyatt who played bass on Terence Trent D'Arby's Vibrator album would be cool too on this channel.
Pino Palladino or Sean Hurley, we know what they play but we still need to see them here!!!!!! hahaha
This guy was a joy to listen to
Geddy lee , victor Wooten, Marcus Miller and mohini dey would be great
You are legend sir...
MY FAV Bass Player IN THE WORLD!!!
