So glad to see a Canadian shopping haul. All the American vloggers I follow always leave me feeling so envious of their prices....
It's painfully expensive to afford healthy groceries in Canada for a large family.

We're in Australia and that $700 CAN converts to $1050 AUD here... it's hard to see fully whats in there and nappies are pretty expensive here too but I'd say that this looks like a $500-600AUD shop here. We buy probably 70% organic and purchase occasional eco nappies for our toddler (mostly potty trained now) and we spend around $300-400 per week, closer to $400 when we buy meat too. For context the minimum wage in Australia is $23 per hour. I have family who live in Canada and definitely agree that groceries in Canada are V. expensive, even comparative to the wage.

Nice haul! I was curious what this haul would cost someone in the Midwest in the US, so I added the prices up using my local Sams Club app (Sams is often cheaper than Costco where I live) and the cart total came to $570USD. That would equal $780CAD, so fairly comparable prices. Actually, your prices are fairly good considering you were able to get mostly organic products and most of the products I added were conventional because Sams has less organic options. Not too shabby!

If you don’t end up using cloth diapers, Costcos Kirkland brand diapers are almost exactly like Huggies, but a fraction of the cost! I’ve used them for both my littles.

Something I think a lot of people don't know, if there's one thing you should buy organic, it is pistachios in my opinion. Non-organic pistachios are heavily sprayed with glyphosates. I know some may not mind, which is totally fine. But I saw you bought the glyphosate-free oats so I figured you would be curious about that. Again, we should all do what is best for our families and I judge no one. Just wanted to offer my two cents. Blessings 🥰

As the partner of someone in the fruit industry, don't go near berries that aren't organic... sprayed to high heavens, many even fungacidal dipped and if they're not then they are irradiated (yes, radiation). We don't go off of the dirty dozen because it's just too simplified but we do follow the Clean 15 - Avocados, Sweet corn, Pineapple, Onions, Papaya, Sweet peas (frozen), Asparagus, Honeydew melon, Kiwi, Cabbage, Watermelon, Mushrooms, Mangoes, Sweet potatoes, Carrots

Good im taking a cleaning break... I literally CRIED in Costco yesterday (in Canada) because i couldnt complete a basic shopping trip in my budget of $400 for 4 people and incuding household and pet food. I was at superstore first then literally embarrassed myself in Costco🤦‍♀️Im
very good at staying on budget but we were out of so many necessities.... I was short circuiting pacing around the store figuring out what i can put back but i finally called my husband broke down(embarrassing) and said im going to have to overspend by like ..$100 I literally am choosing between milk and cream or cereal and apples like... I can't cut more. Groceries are KILLING us

I grew up in Canada but live in the U.S. now. For a long time I wanted to move back to Canada, but every time I go home and go grocery shopping, I can't comprehend how people are affording to feed themselves! I don't think I could mentally cope with paying those prices all the time, being someone who likes to shop sales and keep costs low! Our prices here have gone up a lot in the last couple years but it is still nowhere near the cost of shopping in Canada..... Especially for dairy and meat!

This is so interesting!!! I did a rough talley of your shop and priced out what we can get in New Zealand and added in the exchange rate from CAD to NZD. Wow!!! Talk about cost of living crisis. Again these are only approximates, but if we were to buy the same or similar items and in those quantities it would cost around $1500 NZD or $1220 CAD. We only have one Costco in NZ (6 hours one way from where I live), so it would be worth noting that these prices are based off a 'normal' supermarket/grocery shop and not bulk. However, I didn't account for organic vs budget... NZ approx is based off budget/store brands. If we want organic in NZ we need to add a minimum 10-20% onto the total bill. One of the biggest differences for us in NZ for the rising costs is that we are an island (a tiny island compared to Canada) so as much as we try to produce as much as we can in NZ we are required to import a lot of our goods and services.
