Great vlog....hooked already. Yam RXS100 was the only bike I ever got booked for speeding on.....picked up my son and in a hurry to get him home to mum missed a 30 mph sign leaving a derestricted zone , 63mph 2 up with all his luggage on the rack...still makes me feel proud 🤣
You are a star !!! Congratulations on your grit and determination . I will watch your trip in awe and admiration !! My first bike was a YB100 in 1978 . Stay safe and enjoy . atb
I really enjoyed that, and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the series. Back in 1979 I toured around France on a Yamaha RS 125, and what great fun it was. I met a couple touring around the country two up on a Yamaha FS1E as well! Those were the days. You can tour on anything if the wanderlust grips you.
Great video and good on you for doing this trip on a wee stroker. You can't beat the sound and smell of a 2 stroke. The piston on my DT3 250 Enduro melted coming back from a charity run, I reckon she was running weak. I've got the parts to fix her, so it's just getting the time. Good luck for the rest of the trip.
Lovely video, I enjoyed the watch. Good to see such well preserved bikes....and owners...cough cough! I just love the smell of two stroke in the morning or afternoon. Safe riding and enjoy Scotland. Graeme.
Thanks for subscribing and glad you are enjoying - i wonder if you have seen my series last year when I rode the little bike all the way around the coastline of Ireland? Arguably even more scenic, just as amusing and more dramatic from a weather point of view !
hi rob .well done mate ,hats off to you my friend, fantastic journey, lovely scenery, nice to have biker company part way thank you for your time in editing.and its only part one .stay safe mate .old dave..
Excellent video very well filmed and documented. Refreshing to see someone game to ride a small machine such a great distance.I hope all goes well for you and I look forward to further episodes.
Well done up Winnats pass-nice change down to 1st.I remember, 30 years ago, trying to walk up the pass to campsite after a night out at the pub in Castleton-made it , but boy was it hard.
That was one hell of a first day you had there Rob, but what great views you must of had. Seeing your YB going up those hills on day one, was certainly a challenge from the very start. Looking forward to the next part of your epic adventure.
Found this and subscribed after searching NW500 that we are riding in September. Loved this episode as Derbyshire is my Mano :-) For anyone who wants to visit the Matlock biker location, the bikes gather in Matlock Bath. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed bit you must watch my progress - and the series on my ride around Ireland is even better!! Good luck with your ride in September and please subscribe to see more similar videos.
Ha ha when I had an FS1E I yearned for a yb100. When I eventually changed got a suzuki gt250 ram air. Wow! Love 2 strokes. Thanks for letting the “ ladies “ cross😁. Thanks for this top man
To answer your most important point first I always try to be polite to ladies 😜 Oh and I also had a GT250 ACTUALLY NOT LONG AGO !! Thanks for taking the trouble to comment !
Great vlog. We are doing a 2500 Mile ride , taking in the NC500 from 5th August. I will be on a Honda CT125. It’s awesome to see how others have got on….Fantastic effort. Cheers Dean (Monkey Dix Adventures)….new subscriber…
Greetings from Australia! Enjoying your travels. I've never been to England/Scotland, perhaps next year. How long have you been riding? Me, I'm 78 years young and I've just got myself my motorcycle learner's and currently deciding on a bike. ATM it's a Royal Enfield 650 INT or a similar Japanese equivalent. Thanks for the tour. Looking forward to the series. Somewhat off topic, you might want to check out the carnivore diet for the health issues. Dr. Anthony Chaffee. All the best.
78 years young and looking for yer first bike eh? Well you may find the interceptor a bit heavy - I recently tried the Meteor; very comfortable and not too heavy to push around. Thanks for your comments and your advice - keep watching!!
Good on you rode from surrey to wales and back a couple of times on a C90 I was nineteen and fit, bum ache back ache, eye strain and mega fustration due to other road users flashing their lights at me because I was that rider who rode around with his lights on when no one else did[just had some mates killed and a serious accident myself] and to top it off low sun. Not sure I would care to repeat the journey these days, not without some major mods to the 90.
Lovely countryside there Rob, I think that's Richy Vida country but no need for an Africa Twin to climb the hills..😊😊 The weather was a lot better than Your Irish adventure, btw the views in Matlock weren't bad either.....😎😎 Looking forward to the next episode.
Indeed to animal life in Matlock is enthralling!! I was very lucky with the weather - spoiler - all the way through except for a couple of o Hours when it pis$ed down!!
Helen thanks for your message but you wont see me - I did this in the first two weeks of June and am now madly editing!! Oh and I also had a Yamaha 80 Autolube in the 1970s
I'm sure if you Google the definition of insanity this vid would be 1st 😂. YB100 or big fizzer as we called them back in the day . Wonderful to see one proving little 2 strokes are capable mounts. Hang in there dude , stay safe and have to say the Mrs was captivated by the scenery so looks like we may be doing it ourselves on our trusty old z500B Kawasaki 👍
Truly the scenery was spectacular so do the NC500 before you do ireland - last year I rode the YB 1700 miles round the coast of Ireland which I have to say was unbelievable
@@fiveplates Norway sounds amazing but let me recommend Ireland - if you check my playlists you will see that I rode the YB all around Ireland last year - it didn't get the hits that this series has had but in my view an even better trip - check it out!
Hi Rob, I saw in his latest video by TAYM that you were planning a SW coast 500. If so, include me in. right up my street. Couldn't the bit with that in, have looked at quite a bit of your stuff tho! Cheers from Captain Clumsy.😁
I will put something up on Facebook and here when I am thinking of doing that it might be pretty spontaneous, even later in the summer as it’s not so far!
So you always find sheep, eh Rob? You sure you're not Welsh or a Kiwi? 😅 Nice pins on the filly in Matlock; no wonder you were a gentleman and allowed her to cross! I'd agree with you about almost 200 miles in a day being a bit too far on the YB100. With my lack of padding, it definitely would be! Wonderful countryside; away from the towns, you'd almost think that the UK was largely uninhabited.
Indeed it was but, tragically, he was put to sleep only yesterday - its only been a month but he had major dental surgery and he still has absesses and they were unable to control the pain. We are grieving.

Brilliant! Really enjoyed that. Took me back to my youth, when I toured the Lake District on a Suzuki AP50 and Argyll on a Yamaha RD200
glad it took you back !
What great weather for your 1st days ride, scenery around the peak district is stunning, onwards & upwards, let the adventure continue .
love it hats off to you Sir
Glad you are enjoying - keep watching and thanks for your interest !
Enjoyed your video. Big lad, small bike? Perfect recipe for adventure and proof you can tour on anything if you really want it!!
All the best pal 👍
In truth we don’t need 900cc+ bikes even though I have got one! Glad you enjoyed thanks for watching and commenting!

Fantastic. All The Best, from SUNNY Edinburgh. 👍😁
Having been to Edinburgh many times and love the place, I felt particularly warmed on the day I proudly rode the YB up the High Street!! Thanks Ian 😊
Better man than I, Gunga Din. I rode my 1981 Kz 550 ltd from Kent to my new home of Rhodes, 16 years ago. Certainly an experience.

Brilliant first episode, enjoyed your pace allowing you to take all the scenery in. Thankyou.

Fair play - the only other problem with a big bike is that you may miss the beautiful parts of England on route?
