Your reactions = priceless, especially when that 3-second countdown happens and the Alan Kim moment. My wife and I will finally see ‘Minari’ this week (possibly tonight) and cannot wait. Personal favorite nomination by BAFTA this morning is for Paul Raci. REALLY hope he gets that Oscar nomination-he’s phenomenal.
The only explanation for Carey Mulligan not to get a nomination is that some of the jury members picked her for her role in The Dig which would have split her votes. Her, to have two leading roles would not hurt her anywhere else except at the BAFTAS where The Dig has some traction.
"3... 2... 1" the Mulligan explosion! I was dumfounded too. Yes, it can throw out your neck. I get being diverse but come on...Mulligan was a given! Were these people high when they voted?
Important to remember that the juries only voted on the Directing/Acting categories. The fact that PYW overperformed with stuff like Score, Editing, and Casting tells me that even though the juries didn't care for it, the majority of the voting bodies still like it.
And that means that without that dumb jury on place , Carey Mulligan would’ve been right up,there in the best actress category!!! ..Bafta went woke for the wrong reasons .

Film, British Film, Director and Screenplay nominations were decided to European voters (I believe) but acting nominations were decided by jurors 10-12 and I have a feeling they probably didn't like Viola Davis & Carey Mulligan's performance. We'll see who wins.........
@@ryanyates4124 Nothing to do with slavery. Why did you bring up slavery? Last year the all the actor nominations were white. Carey mulligan snubbed? WTF. Well deserved for Youn but they nominated Bakalova and the anothers and snubbed Olivia Colman, Glenn Close and Amanda Seyfried. It doesn’t make any sense
I’m so glad the Oscar race isn’t so damn predictable this year. I rejoice in that, to be honest. It’s been boring for a long time. Now I’m finally paying attention again. The only real locks in the acting categories at the Oscars is Supporting Actor and Leading Actor (though there’s like a 6% chance Anthony could spoil lol).
Alan Kim is adorable and is great in Minari. However, he should not have been nominated over Sacha Baron Cohen or Mark Rylance. Also the Carey Mulligan, Olivia Coleman, and Viola Davis snubs really hurt.
Some 2/3rds of 2021 BAFTA nominations are from BAME community to quell criticism that they were unrepresented in 2020. This is complete distortion and nonsense.
And between Bakalova and Youn Yuh-jung, I think it would be Youn Yuh-jung. I dont think the Oscars are fond of comedic performances (i.e. McCarthy Bridesmaids).
I hope all the people complaining about the Jury right now realize that it’d just be another year of all white nominees... unless that’s what y’all want. The BAFTAs don’t owe the Oscars shit lol
Congrats to your son

I actually think that Minari overperformed here at the BAFTAs. Was not expecting it to get some of those noms so congrats

Gonna be grieving Carey Mulligan here for a while :'(

They probably were really drunk, it’s crazy 🥵
You cured my depression about my wife--excuse me Carey Mulligan not getting in.
(also check your email when you get a chance)
It's great seeing your son nominated again.
"I can't believe Carey Mulligan didn't get in it hurts my heart" - it hurt your neck dude. Great reactions.
Nominations this year are such a roller coaster. I hope Youn Yuh-jung comes through as the grandma win we all need :)

Best picture and screenplay categories are still voted by the whole membership, so those can still be used for predicting the Oscars.
Vanessa Kirby. Let’s goooo!
little disappointed that Steven Yuen didn't get nominated.
Congrats on 1K subs!
I'm so excited to see your final predictions. I have mine set up.
Alan Kim: "I'm not funny! Im good-looking!"
These nominations were so freaking insane.

The fact that they nominated 4 black actresses in the leading category yet they snubbed Viola Davis was quite a surprise and a good one.

Alan Kim from Minari deserves for supporting actor
Tenet missing score, cinematography, sound and production design could be bad news for it at the Oscars.
