I'd like to see you do a series about site's like Stonehenge and others, the Ancients deliberately chose Stone's with Magnetite in them creating a Magnetic Feild strong enough to be measured, that was at it's peak during the day, discharging at night. It's been proven scientifically to alter the mood of those inside the concentrated feild, a old Technology mentioned in Ancient Egypt and elsewhere. Yo it’d be really cool if you could do more mesoamerican Mythos. I’m Mexican and get really excited at the idea of learning about my ancestors and their ways of worship. Also, keep up the great content!
I Can tell you how they worshipped. They would cut off a dudes head and rip out his heart because it gave the person doing this a big adrenaline rush that they saw as “Godly power”. Saying their rituals while doing these things all because their”God” told them to do these things. Our ancestors were savages that’s our history… being savages… why do you think mexicans hate each other rather than help each other out? We used to be cannibals as well. A lot of this stuff doesn’t really make you proud of your ancestors. But it is what it is 🇲🇽
Thank you for this video! It was wonderfully explained. I love the symbolism woven into Quetzalcoatl; the great feathered serpent. The quetzal, the Lord of the Skies while the serpent, Lord of the Earth. Together, the Lord of Heaven and Earth. The creator of all, who rides the winds across the 4 corners of the world and brings life to his people through merciful rains and generous spirit. Wonderful how so many tribes and vast cities worshiped and revered him. Maybe he was originally the Man/God, you had mentioned in the video, and feathered serpent was a metaphorical way of explaining his nature more easily. Being able to ascend to Heaven but comes back to teach his people. It was one of the reasons Cortez was so warmly welcomed into the Aztec’s cities. They thought of him as the Bearded God coming back to teach them. I wish, in a way, it was. The bringer of life, instead of a harbinger of destruction. How unfortunate; over passages of time all becomes confused and someone, who could have enforced the name of the glorious God of the world, was subsequently misunderstood and appeared as a fierce animal to the Spaniards. Perhaps if they only knew they had similarities they could have avoided at least a little chaos. But who knows...
I love the Percy Jackson books and so do my kids, but I don’t take it as gospel. I find your take on the criticism from this fan base hilarious, and can relate. I’m a history major and when I read the Roman mythology Riordan uses, I really understand how he picks and chooses particular bits for entertainment value and to further the story.
I can tell you what this video is: *Worth Subscribing For.* Splendid content, well put together. The way you speak and pronunciate words allows me to fully understand (I am 60% deaf) and enjoy your lessons of mythology. Kudos sir, kudos.
@Ian M not true, welsh names can be easy if you really try, and I find them a little bit easier than these old lost languages, which are actual just speculation on how they are pronounced.
I know I’m late posting here, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on the story of Quetzalcoatl’s involvement in the creation of the agave plant. The story that I know is that he searched the heavens to find Mayahaul, the goddess of maguey, who lived in the stars alongside her grandmother Tzitzimitl. He found her and brought her back to earth for the purpose of bringing joy and passion to mankind. On their journey to earth they fell in love. Tzitzimitl quickly saw she was missing and sent the tzitzimime (spirits) to find her. When Mayahaul and Quetzalcoatl got to earth they tried to disguise themselves as a plant with two branches. The disguise failed and the spirits shredded only Mayahaul’s branch. In grief, Quetzalcoatl buried her remained and this grew the agave plants. It’s a really interesting backstory for tequila lovers, but I have little to no background knowledge of the Nahuatl creation story.
As someone who's read the Percy Jackson series AND a lot of world myths, the readers seem to forget that Perseus "Percy" Jackson was named AFTER Perseus, Zeus' son. It was even addressed in one of the books and explained why he was named after a son of Zeus despite being the son of Poseidon. Compared to other demigods, Perseus lived a relatively lucky life. Because of that, Percy's mom named him after Perseus in hopes that her son would inherit his luck. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Kinda like how people think hades is evil because of Hollywood. Or the god of war games. This is a very interesting god, wonder if this were rainbow dragon from yugioh gx was inspired from?
In GoW the whole Loki is the Brother of Thor misconception enabled them to come up with the big Loki plot twist, so it was kind of helpful for them that Marvel gave the people this perception of Norse myths.
You are hilarious!🤣🤣. And I love your channel. I've been catching up and may I say sir, you do not disappoint. Every episode is just as interesting as the last. Thank you!!
I'm the real Quetzal coat I prefer that pronunciation to kulkukan or Quetzal cowaddle I am also Ares in the Greek mythologies I'm ku of the Polynesian mythology and I'm YAHWEH of the bible I prefer Jehovah Baal is Zeus look up Jesus destroys Baal on UA-cam your see a man kneeling and fire watch that anyway all the stories about me are true they are contradictery because gods live a long time I just wanted to say that the modern Hispanics are recycled from EACH of the groups who lived before the flood because I felt an obligation to them and I mixed my blood into the batch and other Gods followed
Thanks for reminding people that old myths are word of mouth. The generation who doesn't know that must have been too busy reading percy Jackson while they were teaching us about myths in school . I like the way you tell stories. They'll be fun to retell when I go camping and look at constellations with my sweetheart.
Quetzacuatl was also a historical person. His name was Akatl Topiltsin Ketsalkoatl & he lived during the 10th century AD amongst the Toltec. He was a great spiritual leader & instead of being portrayed as a demigod (like in other religions) he was considered a role model that all Tolteca could be like.
I really enjoy this channel as a counter to Overly Sarcastic Productions, because you cover a lot of the same material but your styles are so different I learn stuff from both.
i only discovered u're channel a few days ago and i am in love.i've been interested in mythology for quite some time now and ive been thinking to persue it as a career. So THANK YOU!!!
Percy just happens that he shares the same name as Perseus and people probably get the names/people mixed up. He has the name Perseus because Perseus (the original myth) was one of the few Greek heroes to get a relativity happy ending.
Hola Eutanasia dePorvida, I can't find the original post and your answer to my question about the cross-symbol of Quetzalcoatl, but I read them and just wanted to say my thanks. un poco raro es que no puedo encontrar tus repuestas originales ?, alquien las ha borado ?? egual, muchas gracias hermano
@ Eutanasia dePorvida, How exactly did the Mexica tribe help the Spaniards fight the Toltecas? Toltecas were around during the years 600 to early 1000. Spanish empire on the other hand began their conquest of Mexico in the 1500; 400 years later... Also, the Mexica tribe arrived in the Colhuacan region as an ally to the Colhuacan tribe. After conflict with the Colhuacan tribe, the Mexica people fled to the lake of Texcoco; were they funded the city of Tenotchitlan (inspired by the city of Teotihuacan). With the help of the city of Tlacopan and the city of Texoco; the triple alliance defeated the city of Azcatzopalco. This triple alliance came to be known as the Aztec Empire by the Spanish; but was in reality constructed by three distinct ethnic groups: the Mexica, the Texcoco citizens, and the Tepenaca. The opponents of the Aztec Empire helped the Spanish; i.e. the Chichimecas, the remnants of the Azcatzopalco civilization and other enemy city states in the region. The main downfall of the Aztecs (Tenochitlan) was the flu, and the easy city seige due to only 4 entry points into the city.
Would you consider making a video about Tezcatlipoca? He was the brother and rival of Queztalcoatl, and he was also worshipped for a whole lot of things. From the research I've done, his main thing seems to be a belief in creating change (positive and negative) from chaos and conflict.
By the way, im a percy jackson fan, and even i know that the first perseus was a son of zeus. I do my research. And ive seen both clash of the titans films.
Same for me but not all the people do the same. Some people take writers stories as truth, but not all people know that the stories are not always correct
Arkhamun Frost Magnus chase series of Rick Riordan says same thing the Thor in Norse mythology looks nothing like Chris Hemsworth he looks way more like a barbaric god who never baths and farts lightning
I would definately describe Quetzalcoatl as an outlier when it comes to snake deities. Aside from the Rainbow Serpent that the Aboriginies worship not many mythological snakes come to mind that are depicted in such a posetive light, being worshipped as a protector and helper while most snakes and dragons in mythology are depicted as evil and destuctive.
John O ́neil Well, from what i know Quetzalcoatl was considered the creator of humanity, if i remember right Quetzalcoatl gave his own blood to create the humans, so maybe thats why they thought so good about him.
John O ́neil omg I love to weather storms because I love snakes 😍😍 Can you tell me more about this rainbow snake? I am native American yokut. I always used to call myself a dragon ( 🤩😍😍
I am by no means an expert and maybe you should cnsult Wikipedia for more in depth details but from what I was told the Rainbow Serpent flies and dives from billabong (rate waterholes in the Australian desert) to the next, drawing rainbows across the sky and bringing rain. It is a common motive for the rock paintings of the indiginous people of Australia.
John O ́neil Ancient Egypt is another example of serpents being depicted in positive ways. Actually Egyptian mythology is full of good and evil snakes. On one hand the snake is seen as the protector of the pharaohs. This is why the crowns of the pharaohs always featured a representation of the cobra. The snake on the crown would spit venom at the enemies of the king. The cobra was so important in fact that when Egyptians campaign in Nubia to conquer the region, they came across a sacred mountain which featured a very familiar rock formation. The mountain known as Jebal Barkal has a projecting rock formation that looks like a rearing cobra ready to strike. The Egyptians were so enamored with the place that they built a series of temples around the mountain and declared that it was the home of the god Amun. And yet there are also the evil snakes such as the giant serpent that tries to destroy the boat of the sun god as he makes his journey through the underworld during the hours of the night. The Celeste you’ll both of the sun god is the sun itself, and by destroying the boat the snake tries to prevent the coming of day and the continuation of life. Thus this snake is seen as the enemy of order and the agent of chaos.

Quetzalcoatl was a blond, helpful, god, who left the Aztecs, but promised to return. Cortez was first thought to be quetzalcoatl returning, but after they say a soldier, of his, bleed, they knew he wasnt quetzalcoatle, because gods dont bleed.
Quetzalcoatl is the inspiration for both the Slifer the Sky Dragon in Yu-Gi-Oh and Rayquaza in Pokemon. If there is a flying serpent and it does not heal it was likely inspired by Quetzalcoatl.
Awesome stuff, I would really love to see an expansion on the myths of the peoples of South and the central Americas, as it seems to get glossed over quite a bit.

Our ancestors were savages that’s our history… being savages… why do you think mexicans hate each other rather than help each other out? We used to be cannibals as well. A lot of this stuff doesn’t really make you proud of your ancestors. But it is what it is 🇲🇽
the stuff the aztecs did were pretty similar to catholics lol

The kundalin is the only way to God Amaru is the Kundalini
Wow I love your sense of humor .....tho I didn't know you had one
I seem to be getting that a lot but it makes sense considering people don't see anything outside UA-cam.

Yep it's British.
Yup
The best channel on UA-cam. The narration and art are both incredible.
I love this more jokey video, not that i dont love your general format, but having you shade the percy-fans was very satisfying

Thanks for the video, I love quetzalcoatl.
I can tell you what this video is:
*Worth Subscribing For.*
Splendid content, well put together. The way you speak and pronunciate words allows me to fully understand (I am 60% deaf) and enjoy your lessons of mythology.
Kudos sir, kudos.
if you continue mesoamerican myths then you should talk about the mayan death bat, camazotz.
Lazzen I'd like to hear what he can find on Ozomatli
The Pillar Men.
Lazzen Or Mictlantecuhtli
Lazzen omg... I am yokut 😍😍 I love hearing these stories... We need them...
As a Mexican person, I feel honored that you grace the video with the mythical laugh :p great video though
This is a very interesting god, wonder if this were rainbow dragon from yugioh gx was inspired from?
rainbow dragon is inspired by the mythical rainbow serpents in eastern mythology
Grey World In God of War all Gods are douchebags, though, so its more of Hollywood's fault.
Grey World ehh all gods in god of war are either evil or just jackasses
In GoW the whole Loki is the Brother of Thor misconception enabled them to come up with the big Loki plot twist, so it was kind of helpful for them that Marvel gave the people this perception of Norse myths.
Grey World I'd like to think so but weren't the crystal beasts based off of Roman jewels or something?
You are hilarious!🤣🤣. And I love your channel. I've been catching up and may I say sir, you do not disappoint. Every episode is just as interesting as the last. Thank you!!
I'm from Guatemala and I've heard of the Quétzalcoalt, so when I saw the notification I knew I had to see this.
Outstanding video and your ‘know it all’ voice made me LAAAUGH!!
I love the into lol . The shade , and it is true rick did change some thing. And I want zeus to be the god of pink flamingos cuz he is flamboyant
James S omg that's amazing 😍😍😍😘🤩
Finally thank you Mayan mythology 😁
Best channel ever!!!!
Was skirting around these videos in my recommended but this one kept my mediocre attention long enough lol - really good pronunciations & insights!
This had me at the edge of my seat! Thank you! It was nice to hear you laugh.
Black Panther 2 brought me here.
Same
Same. I really loved what they did with Namor by tying him to Kulkunkan. I'd love to hear more stories about him.
Probably same white man
@@edwinramirez5850 🤦♂️
This is not true..
@@abi9795 why not?

I really enjoy this channel as a counter to Overly Sarcastic Productions, because you cover a lot of the same material but your styles are so different I learn stuff from both.
YES, I wanted this so bad!
OMG! QUETZALCOATL!! thank you so much for this! made my day!
i only discovered u're channel a few days ago and i am in love.i've been interested in mythology for quite some time now and ive been thinking to persue it as a career. So THANK YOU!!!
Percy just happens that he shares the same name as Perseus and people probably get the names/people mixed up. He has the name Perseus because Perseus (the original myth) was one of the few Greek heroes to get a relativity happy ending.
Perseus had some chocolate love,he hooked up with an Ethiopian woman
You cracking up at the 2 minute mark in this vid made me a subscriber. Great channel...and great chuckle!
Didn't Quetzelquatl oppose human sacrifice?
Great video by the way
Eutanasia dePorvida Thanks for replying, also wasn't Hernan Cortez confused for Quetzelquatl when he and the Spaniards arrived in South America?
Hola Eutanasia dePorvida, I can't find the original post and your answer to my question about the cross-symbol of Quetzalcoatl, but I read them and just wanted to say my thanks.
un poco raro es que no puedo encontrar tus repuestas originales ?, alquien las ha borado ?? egual, muchas gracias hermano
@ Eutanasia dePorvida,
How exactly did the Mexica tribe help the Spaniards fight the Toltecas?
Lower dieties need sacrifice
@@akainihkasimaisopowa6781 why? what does sacrifice actually do for them?
Would you consider making a video about Tezcatlipoca? He was the brother and rival of Queztalcoatl, and he was also worshipped for a whole lot of things. From the research I've done, his main thing seems to be a belief in creating change (positive and negative) from chaos and conflict.
Why are there always two rival brothers when it comes to gods and creation...
THICC Dragon
You're sexually inclined to a dragon?? Millennials are strange
Nicholas Carruth it's a reference to a character, a cute girl with big boobs named quetzatcoatl

By the way, im a percy jackson fan, and even i know that the first perseus was a son of zeus. I do my research. And ive seen both clash of the titans films.
Jackal Reviews same
Same for me but not all the people do the same. Some people take writers stories as truth, but not all people know that the stories are not always correct
Nikita Visser Just like people who assume Loki is the adopted son of odin and thor's brother based on the marvel movies
Arkhamun Frost yes that's so annoying
Arkhamun Frost Magnus chase series of Rick Riordan says same thing the Thor in Norse mythology looks nothing like Chris Hemsworth he looks way more like a barbaric god who never baths and farts lightning
That was the first time I ever heard you tell a joke, and my god, did I laugh 🤣😂🤣 you're awesome my dude
John O ́neil omg I love to weather storms because I love snakes 😍😍
Can you tell me more about this rainbow snake? I am native American yokut.
I always used to call myself a dragon ( 🤩😍😍
I am by no means an expert and maybe you should cnsult Wikipedia for more in depth details but from what I was told the Rainbow Serpent flies and dives from billabong (rate waterholes in the Australian desert) to the next, drawing rainbows across the sky and bringing rain. It is a common motive for the rock paintings of the indiginous people of Australia.
John O ́neil Dragons in China, Korea and Japan are depicted in an positive light, too.
John O ́neil
Ancient Egypt is another example of serpents being depicted in positive ways.
“Oh yes, Zeus the god of flamingos & pink Ferrari's” 😂 lmao' I hope I get a chance to say that shit to someone 😂
Flying Reptile not dinosaur but really great video. Do the myth of Axolotl
Axolotl is not a myth, I have one in a fish tank at home ;)

I knew Quetzalcoatl before F/GO and Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, but I still find the mythological story still amazing.
Ahh hahaha that was fucking brilliant, I been waiting for you to crack up and laugh on a video and, Sir, that was extremely funny!! I'm sure there was a lot of us listening here at home us "plebians" that laughed out loud as well. Thanks for the upload, really love the content
Please do more Aztec gods this is so interesting!!
This is what Rayquaza based on.
zoltán Ferencz are you sure it's not bakunawa?
Raykwaza is based upon the atmosphere, it is a personification of it. That is why it destroys meteors.
Lu1s.com yes and also based on various mythologies including the hebrew mythology's Ziz. The chinese dragon, lindworm and the quetzalcoatl.
And its name origin is the hebrew word Raqiza also the can be the combination Ray and Quasar.
@@zoltanferencz1785 it's only based on ziz, I don't remember where exactly it states this, but it's supposed to be part of the leviathan, behemoth, and ziz trio.
Your content was much more better than before. Now I like to watch your videos even more :)
Quezocoatl was also the giant flying reptile from the age of the dinosaurs. Literally meaning the flying serpent. Thanks
Fast paced and easy to follow, lots of thorough information. Thank you for sharing.
The most accurate portrayal of Quetzalcoatl is from Final Fantasy 8
finally! thank you. somebody remembers Quetzacoatl in ff8.... i keep reading the term percy jackson in the comments and like wth? Q aint in the series (if it did in the aftermath of the last olympian, then my bad...)
I've seen different versions of him in the Castlevania games, somewhat a jumping bony serpent.
Should I also count Quezalli esper from ff6?
God I can't wait to see Kratos fight this thing
since quetzalcoatl is a happy go lucky funni god (acording to the aztecs atleast) i would not realy see him fighting kratos for no reason, rather if kratos has a mission that might be a threat to him
Why Quetzalcoatl would most likely heal Kratos as he was one of the most liked gods
@@NoMoreTortillas1 if i remember quetzacotl was a pacifist who never wanted to fight people

That's another culture that associated Venus with one who brings knowledge... Come to think of it, that would be a great topic for a set of videos - specifically themes that are unexpextedly common to severely distant cultures.
If you aint afraid of conspiratorial type subjects, i'd recommend you look up bill cooper's old radio show "the hour of the time." Specifically his "mystery babylon" series. Can still find it on youtube
This might be your best video yet mostly because you had me rolling haha thank you for information and the laugh.
Actually loved the @ing of the pjo fandom!! I love that these people claiming that Perseus is a son of Poseidon clearly missed the part in one of the early books where Percy specifically explains his namesake was a son of Zeus...
Great video and once again wonderful images that you've found! The humor was also well done :D
You are funny, we all know that Mimir is the god of Beards lol. I loved that joke about Harry Potter. Keep up the good work man, I also really like Quetzalcoatl too, he's really interesting.

If there is a flying serpent and it does not heal it was likely inspired by Quetzalcoatl.
yugioh 5ds
Whats the inspiration of kyogre and groudon?
A little humor! :) love your videos, this was a pleasant surprise!
Awesome stuff, I would really love to see an expansion on the myths of the peoples of South and the central Americas, as it seems to get glossed over quite a bit.

Quetzalcoatlus isn’t a Dinosaur, It’s a pterosaur, a very separate species of reptile
No, Pterosaurs weren't feathered. They were hairy bastards.
Jonathan Luoto Well Quetzalcoatlus is still a pterosaur
This is my kind of discussion ❤️
@MICHAEL GOLD or sauropods, which also include birds. a chicken is more related to a trex than a crocodile is to a tortoise in fact.
MICHAEL GOLD well that would mean crocodiles aren’t reptiles either since they’re also archosaurs, while we all regard crocodiles definitely as reptiles.
