- In this video, I'll show you how I installed a Hefty Fabworks aluminum front bumper on my 2008 Nissan Xterra.
Install went super easy. No cutting or drilling required. Excellent craftsmanship, build quality and fitment. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Stay tuned for upcoming videos of Warn Winch installation and aftermarket fog lights.

Really looking forward to receiving my front bumper. Also, can't say enough good about Hefty Fabworks and the people that work there. I purchased my bumper through a business that sells Hefty products but that business, after months of waiting and follow up calls to find out status of my order, seems to have gone out of business. Thankfully, Chris from Hefty Fabworks called me last month to let me know that the bumper was made, but that the seller who went under hadn't paid them yet. After looking into disputing the charge with my bank, and having the bank deny the claim due to the expired time frame, Chris called me today, listened to what happened and decided to honor the order and send the bumper to me anyway. Huge props to Chris and Hefty for being such a standup company - definitely will buy direct from them in the future!
That’s awesome!! Great bumper. Still loving it!
Cool seeing more people getting Nissan Xterra and Frontiers. I love frontiers! The Nissan’s are so reliable and good off road vehicles. Keep the vids coming man!
@UA Xterra bad cluster
It’s a dummy gauge...
Nice to see another off roader rocking the Nissan 👍🏻. They are excellent off road platform.
i am soo glad you made this video for this 2nd gen xterra, we need more diy vids for 2nd gens!
Glad you found it helpful!!!
I love people that take the time to make videos like this I respect that, I’m gonna buy a hefty fab works bumper for my x but it’s a 2009
Ayyy I follow u on insta
@@DonnieDeLo4577 😩
Just getting into Xterras and this was really cool to see that the work is simple enough to do on my own. Thanks!
Glad you found it helpful!
Great video. I like the way you included the errors and redos on issues that came up. Keep up the videos man.
Thanks for the feedback!
Omg I have my Nissan Xterra for more than 10 years and I’ll love to get that new bumper too
I been looking for a channel like this one 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Respect the time that you took to make this vid. Props bro. ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 looks amazing.
Thanks!
My Nissan is 2004 and running like a beast 🤟🤟🤟🤟
nice! That’s the older body style, too. very cool
loving these xterra videos wish they would start making them again.
Me too. My only complaint is you can't get as much wheel travel out of them as easily as you can with a Toyota.
subbed! there's not a lot of xterra channels, thanks for the video. good to know that the bumper fits in the back.
Agreed.. with how many X I see on the road here in UT, and daily driving one, I’ve always wondered why there aren’t a lot more how-to’s
Thank you for making this video. It would have taken me MUCH longer if I didn’t see this.
Thanks for the great video! I'm installing mine tomorrow!
Awesome! Good luck!
awesome video! I'm looking forward to modding mine ( once i buy one lol)
Great in-depth video bro
Thanks!
Good stuff! I’m building some cool Nissan myself!
I just picked up a steel bumper from another Xterra owner and I'm super glad you posted this. I have a 2013 and he had a 2008. Besides the grill difference, I am hoping the bumper mounts were the same between the two years.
Benjamin Ledbetter should be the same mounting points. might have to trim the grille depending on the lines. or just switch to a 2008 grille?
@@rayregnogarage I thought about the grill. My wife isn't too keen on me spending more money on it so I am most likely going to just trim my current grill.
I tried getting it bolted on today though and I think the measurement between the mounting bolts might be ever so slightly different. But I am working by myself with a steel bumper so the weight is impossible to hold up on my own.
Also, super hyped on the channel. I am not sure what you're plans are with it but I am always looking for new Xterra content creators!
@@Ben-on3ty Sorry, just now saw this! Just posted a new video on mounting a Ram Mount Tough Track on the interior of the truck to mount an iPad. So far it's been nice having my phone in hands reach but haven't had a chance to go off roading with the iPad mounted there. Hopefully soon!
Nice work! I will need to do that soon on my 2012 Xterra.
Awesome! Make sure to select the order option for the 2009-2015. The grille is slightly different
So helpful 💕💕
Great Video guys!!
Thanks!!
I think I'm gonna get this bumper and give it a try. Thanks!
awesome. I love this bumper
Sweet Rig Man! 👍🏼
Thanks!!!
I like it bro.
awesome job A+++++
I've polished head lights. But try this bug spray with high amount of deet wipe off repeat if needed. Crazy this is that easy.
bug spray? like repellent spray? I’ve replaced my headlights since this video. haha
Looks amazing! I'm planning to get an used Xterra myself, this bumper seems to be the way to go! Have you noticed any significant drop on fuel efficiency after changing that bumper? Thanks!
I don't think so, although she's never really gotten "good" mileage. This bumper is aluminum and surprisingly light. It's MUCH lighter than any comparable steel bumper you will find.
I used a a rust eater by Rust-Oleum it's unbelievable then I spray paint but I'm going to take my time on my Nissan Xterra I just started my project a few weeks ago.
Awesome!
Inspiring
Thanks!
I'd assume the difference between the 2005-08 and 09+ bumpers is a slightly different shape rather than different mounting bc they did a face lift in 09 where the grill extends farther down (the dip down in the center is about twice as long)
yup! that's the only difference.
Bro, I just picked up a 2008 Offroad Edition....love the way you have yours setup. What lift do you have if you don't mind me asking? Have you done the Titan swap already?
Haven’t done the Titan swap yet. Too many projects. lol. I have the PRG Advanced Coilover kit. But there are others out there now. I would shop around. The PRG kit has been good but there are a lot of other companies doing stuff for Xterras now. Check out Z1.
Hey RAY! just wondering how is the ride after YOU DIY ...mean to say is it's ruff ride or smooth ride coz I'm looking to install my 2012 Nissan X and looking forward feed back 🤙
Don’t even notice it. It’s light.
What did you do about your front wheel well liners? Did you just remove them or trim them?
I removed them, but I recently picked up a new rotary tool, so I may look into trimming the liners and putting them back in. I come from a desert racing background and we would just ditch the liners altogether, but I see the value in the liners for water crossings and such.
Just curious if you ever purchased and installed a winch in your Xterra as you described in this video? I didn't see another video on your channel showing its install, so I thought I'd ask.
And thanks for creating this video! I'm looking forward to my Heftyfab aluminum front bumper to arrive here in a few weeks.
Thanks for the comment! I haven’t yet. Got distracted, bought 3 more projects, moved part time to another state. Lol. But it is still on the to-do list. I’ll definitely do a video when I get one put in. But the truck has been great with the bumper. You’ll love it.
@@rayregnogarage, thanks for the quick response! I have a '17 Frontier SV 4x4 and am looking at either putting a Smittybuilt or Warn winch in upon arrival. Just have to decide which one. Have you already measured out what dimensions that recess allows for a winch install? I'm not sure any of my winch options will fit without relocating the control pack from the winch itself.
@@MrBigJonathanD I'm liking the Warn. That's what I'm gonna get
@@MrBigJonathanD Also.. keep in mind that you'll need to update your spring rate on your coilover. That's one reason I've been waiting to get the winch. I want to do the Titan Swap first so I don't have to redo the front suspension twice.
What suspension and tires set up are you running ? Looks clean!
Thanks. I'm running 285/75 on the factory 16" wheel and some wheel spacers. Not a fan of the spacer but it rubs otherwise. As for suspension I'm running this: www.prgproducts.com/product-page/xterra-advanced-coilover-package-w-prg-upper-a-arms
How are you on weight on your front end? Have you had to upgrade your springs to handle the weight? I've heard that you have... I belive and extra 80lbs before you start running into issues
The all aluminum bumper is light. It's only 55lbs and is the reason I chose it. Didn't need to change my springs.
Great Video Man.
Step by Step, how is it Holding Up?
How do you Like it ??
How Easy was to Install a Winch Afterwards??
Holding up great! Actually haven't had a chance to get the winch yet. Been busy with work, but will be posting a how-to when I do install it. So stay tuned!
@@rayregnogarage , Yeah IF you Buy a Winch can you Kindly do a Step by Step Install.

how long was the wait time? im thinking on getting the hefty fab Tube Winch Bumper
TatsuyaDragon I think the website says there’s a 4-6 week lead time as these are usually built to order. I got mine right away though. I posted on my Instagram story my install of the skid plates, and they DMed me asking me if I wanted a bumper since they happened to have one in stock.
I totally ziptied my grille back on, I feel it’s far more snug than those cheap plastic push nuts they use
agreed! and easier to pop off in a hurry

Thank you so much Sir, I’m a Filipino a member of PHIL MARINES sir hopefully someday we will meet i’m one of fan sir
Sir I saw one of video about the headlights I have questions sir
I want to replace my head light assembly sir
@@arzibanez3924 What's your questions?
Just curious, when you did get a winch did you have enough room to work it in without taking the bumper back off? I bought my xterra with a heftyfab bumper already installed but no winch. If I can do it with the bumper in place I may try to tackle it myself, but if I have to take it off I'll probably bribe a friend to help.
I actually haven’t mounted a winch yet. But am pretty sure it would be necessary to remove the bumper to mount it. It’s pretty tight in there.
Just in case anyone else comes in here wondering the same thing... I got a smittybilt x20 comp and you actually do have room to maneuver that winch into place without taking of the bumper, but there is a vertical plate between the holes on the bottom outside edge and where you would need to bolt it in, so it'd be almost impossible to install and tighten the bolts that hold it to the mounting plate.
Had to fab up some mount points for the control box, but otherwise it is a great fit in this bumper.
@@DanielChapman111 great to know! thanks!!!
What website did you get your bumper from I have an Xterra to of I'm trying to find the same bumper I like that bumper
heftyfab.com/collections/nissan-xterra/products/2005-nissan-xterra-front-bumper-aluminum
What did you do to the wheel well trim?
You mean the inner fender? I threw it away
Just subbed! I’m torn between getting an XJ or xterra 🤔 thanks for the vid
The xterra is definitely more unique. I think it's more powerful also. But the aftermarket support and the simplicity of the XJ is pretty epic. I want one, too!
I want both, I mean. hahaha
Lol this is why it’s such a tough decision for me. I’ll go with the best deal I can find and let that dictate which one I go for, cuz I can’t go wrong with either
I feel like the Xterra will be more reliable if that matters. Haha. Also, not many people off-road them. So you’re more likely to find one that hasn’t been abused.
Stronghold Garage that’s so relevant.. I was actually watching a video on UA-cam about financial decisions, and realized sometimes saving money on a car isn’t always a good thing in the long run, so in my case maybe buying an xterra will be a better financial decision because it’s going to last way longer than buying a 20 year old XJ, which btw ain’t that cheap anymore lol. This is why I take my time with this stuff 😂 lots of things to consider
How'd you figure out where to cut the fender liners? I've got an Expedition One on order and I'm trying to prep for delivery day.
I literally just eyeballed it. I need to trim some more, though. The tires still rub at full bump. I'll post a video of it when I finally get around to it.
@@rayregnogarage I didn't realize you need to trim the liners. Did you do this video about the fender liners?
@@blackdotpatrick I never got around to them for the Xterra. I may have even thrown the liners away. Out of curiosity, I DID trim the fender liners on my Ranger but the next time I pull the liners off, I won't put them back on. I just prefer linerless fenders. Makes it much easier to service the truck without them. I did a video on trimming the liners for the Ranger. I imagine the process is very much the same. You'll just need to find anchor points to zip tie the loose ends of the liner: ua-cam.com/video/olcheNGn9z8/v-deo.html
hey brother! is it required to remove the inner fender cover?
You could trim it. If you leave the front section on it will look weird. I just took it off for convenience.
Do you have a lift kit on there? ..... subscribed btw, I have a 2010 off-road
This is what I have on the truck: www.prgproducts.com/product-page/xterra-advanced-coilover-package-w-prg-upper-a-arms
How are you liking it so far? And complaints?
No complaints so far! Still need to get the winch for it, though!
Dude, what company did you buy this through,?
It looks like a quality product.
Thanks
Hefty Fabworks.
How much did the number Cost you?
What size bolts did you use to mount the fog lights if you ever eventually did? Didn’t seem to have gotten any in the kit
I haven’t mounted lights to it yet. What light kit did you get or did your truck have oem fogs
I have oem fogs , I’m not the brightest dude ever but just would rather use the proper size bolts instead of zip ties hah.
@@rayregnogarage side note though great video and awesome channel. Keep up the awesome content !
Appreciate it!! You can get a bolt size measuring tool at home depot. that should help you pick the right size
The inner steel bumper on my '16 Frontier has 4 bolts that are so tight that the whole HFW project is on hold till I can get them out. I've blown up extensions and now I hope my socket holds up to the leverage I'm going to have to use with the breaker bar.
Have you tried some PB Blaster? An impact usually does wonders for that sort of stuff, too. You can also heat up the bolt with a torch or one of those fancy heat induction tools for bolts.
@@rayregnogarage I got them off pretty easy w/ the leverage of a longer bar.
Got everything from hefty FW bolted on finger tight and the 2 holes on the bottom of the brackets didn't line up w/ the frame holes so had to take everything off and put the bottom fasteners in first and redo it. What a pita.
sub3by08 Ya...i didn’t follow the instructions. Haha. I put those bottom bolts in first as you can see in the video.
Nice X man! Can we get some specs on what you got so far?
@@BillyB0ob Thanks! I've got the PRG Products Advanced Coilover Package with the PRG Upper, Max-Gear Armor sliders and rear bumper with spare and jerry can carriers, and a few other odds and ends.
Thanks for posting this video. Why did you choose the Hefty front bumper over the Shrockworks front bumper?
One of the reasons I liked the Hefty bumper over the Shrockworks was the weight. The Hefty is made of aluminum and only weighs 55lbs. The Shrock weighs 130lbs
Same question came to my mind as soon as I clicked the video haha! But is this HFW bumper strong enough to protect cuz I don’t want to spend on a show off bumper? I saw a video of shrockworks and it looked very strong.
@@Agent.K. I imagine it's not AS strong as a steel bumper since aluminum is softer. But not sure. It's still better than a factory bumper for protection and function
RX2 Overland
Definitely a better approach angle.
@@Agent.K. and recovery points. will be mounting a winch in there shortly, as well.
Whats the set up on there?? Lift and tires?
www.prgproducts.com/product-page/xterra-prg-advanced-coilover-package-w-spc-uca
Can it work on the 2013 Frontier?
The process should be very similar on the Frontier as they are the same platform, but the bumper will be slightly different. Hefty Fabworks does sell a bumper for the Frontier. www.heftyfabworks.com/store/Nissan-Frontier-Front-Bumpers-c13441632
I need my truck that look like this in the front
I like it. Totally changes the personality of the truck.

I would have cut the plastic off at the bottom of the grill. It’s there to keep the airflow into the radiator. If it works it works.
Didn't have any issues with it. I also ended up upgrading the radiator a few months later... cools even better.
look out moose, X-terror coming thru.

Where I can get this bumper?
Link in the description. I do not know if they will ship to Dubai.
How makes this. And how much is it?
Link in the description
Does the Xterra still remain safe in a crash with the new bumper?
I really want get one but since I don't off-road on harsh trails much, idk if it's worth the potential safety risk.
I do have 33" tires though, and plan to get a 2.5" suspension lift alongside an 8000lb-10000lb winch sometime.
That bumper is much more sturdy than the "bumper" that comes factory. That thing barely covered anything. You'll definitely need something to mount a winch to.
@@rayregnogarage Thanks for the reply!
Also, can the factory recovery hook still be used with this bumper, or is it better to just stick with D-ring shackles instead?
@@itsdimitriymedvedyev The bumper has recovery points built in. Better to use those.
yo how high is your lift?
somewhere between 1-3”. I don’t like to crank the coilovers too high. probably only about 2”

Hi, throw off the address where you can buy a bumper.
The link is in the video description
25% of the car value in a bumper...ouch
Grandma just called and said you're supposed to go home. She said she doesn't want you here when she gets back because you've been ruining everybody's lives and eating all our steak.
Yes these bumpers are expensive but we aren’t building these vehicles just to resell, we are building an off road vehicle as a fun hobby. A winch and winch bumper is a valuable tool.
This is vandalism and nothing else. Would never let this guy close to my car. Never :-(
Dudas Kitti I’m confused why do you call modding his own truck vandalism?
My truck doesn't have a transmission cooler. It's a manual. Clearly, you haven't been around many offroad vehicles. A lot of them don't even have bodies. They are simply tube chassis and the engine is completely exposed. The inner fenders keep heat IN.
Zip Ties to hold it all together = FAIL!!!!
I DID mention it was a "temporary" fix til I had a chance to go to Home Depot to get proper hardware. But it's been almost a year and several trips to the desert and a 12,000 mile, 4 corners U.S. cross country road trip and it still hasn't fallen off. You're not a real offroader or adventurer if you can't fix EVERY problem with zip ties, ratchet tie downs, duct tape, and/or WD40. haha.
