Very good video! I recently realized that I really wasn't spending enough time learning and practicing vocabulary, and have now shifted my strategy to try and accommodate for that. However, something that has been very challenging for me to understand is the use of prefixes on Ukrainian words. Many of the words I learned on Duolingo did not have по-, за/з-, від-, etc. attached to them, and I struggle to understand when/why they are there. Any chance you could make a video about this in the future?

Thank you so much, @@mariyaukrainian This video of yours just made me feel cheerful like my late father used to make me feel. Like when he first taught me how to vibrate my tongue for the Ukrainian letter 'p'. He was unable to teach me more than the odd word in Ukrainian. But he was so much fun when we were trying to perfect even just how to say "Thank you" or "I love you, Daddy".

Fantastic advice, thank you so much! Щира вдячність вам за вашу велику роботу. Я ірландка, і сьогодні вже 488 день, як я намагаюся вивчити українську мову. Я можу бути повільним, але я ніколи не зупинюся! Слава Україні! 🇺🇦

Привіт! Чудовий підсумок. Good points - it would be great if you could elaborate more on some of them in follow-up videos. For example show differences between spoken and written language, tell us commonly used idioms, explain differences between dialects. I've recently come across your channel and I like it, I'm looking forward to see more interesting videos.

I love your advice. You are right about the Cases. Guilty. I haven't been doing that. Great advice. I listen to music on the way to work. I have 3 Ukrainians living with me to help speed up my learning. Your videos are helping me so much. Word order. Yes. I focus on that so much. I know it isn't as important in Ukrainian, but my Native English mind dictates otherwise. So much I can say to you! я щасливий! Thanks for everything. This video really showed me a few things I need to focus on. Much love and respect!

Excellent overview! I would add that people should spend some time learning the Ukrainian alphabet. Just my personal opinion but new learners should also learn the Russian alphabet also so they are aware of the many differences. The case examples sounded familiar 😊

Good job with inserting the graphic for the 7 noun cases but case #5, instrumental, please consider using a yellow font for the text to make it more readable. Дякую 🇺🇦 And possibly yellow font for case #6, locative. The others are fine.

My biggest problem with learning Ukrainian is that I'm friends with my Ukrainian tutor and we end up talking about how things are going for each of us, and suddenly our time is up! 😀 When I was learning ruzzian, the tutor was mean and didn't care and was very off-putting, so I did learn lots of vocabulary and grammar in ruzzian. But the conversations with my Ukrainian tutor are more rewarding to my life as a whole, and it doesn't matter to me if it takes me a decade longer to learn Ukrainian. The Ukrainian I know is at least a vibrant language full of life, not like the dead and sterile ruzzian words I can regurgitate.

@@mariyaukrainian -- Yes, that is my ultimate goal. The problem is, we begin to discuss a topic, I run out of words but still want to discuss the topic, so we revert to English 😀 But I am learning a bunch more about the culture of Ukraine, and that's still a good thing for me.

Пріиіт! Thank you for the advice. I have been trying to invite Ukrainian Language into my life by changing my language on my phone. However it became annoying because I didn't understand so many of the words, so I changed it back. I would like to learn some words so that I can understand what my phone is saying to me. Eventually I will change more platforms to Ukrainian like my computer and my Netflix account,, but I will do that much further down the road.

One easy way for Ukrainian language learners to get 15 minutes of learning and practice is to watch 15 minutes of your nearly two hour video 100+ Important Ukrainian phrases. BTW, the thumbnail says Essential instead of important. At 15 minutes per day, the student can watch the entire video in 8 days.
