Using an IR to simulate an acoustic guitar

- How to make an electric guitar sound like an acoustic using an impulse response (IR) and some EQ. Since this guitar doesn't have a piezo bridge, I'm running the single-coil neck pickup into an EQ to crank the highs, thin out the mids, and high-pass the lows to taste. I'm using a Line 6 Helix Floor and the IR named "HD28 - AKG C414B-XLS.wav" (located at dropbox.com/sh/f2qdh9jtcl6s5cv/AACRlEt-UVeLAhuvV4YwMY7Wa) for this, but the same idea can be applied to any EQ and IR loader.
Wow! Didn't realize this was possible, it's already 5 years old tech. Thank you!
Happy to help!
There should honestly be more videos like this. I think it’s really well done, and those of you who disapprove of this tone should really hear it in the context of a band. I do this all the time with my bands. Admittedly, I much prefer the sound of my piezo-equipped Music Man JP6 or Godin LGXT versus magnetic pickups. However, there are those occasions I need to bring my L5 or another arch top to a gig, and when I want that steel-string tone, it’s there in the IR.
I appreciate the support, Ricardo!
Definitely a useable acoustic-electric tone. I dig it!
Thanks, Geoff!
I wonder are there any impulse responses of acoustics out there, where they use old school electromagnetic soundhole pickups as the input signal instead of piezos. If so, I imagine it would translate much better to electric guitar
would be interesting to do a micced up archtop vs its neck pickup too, just for fun (although that's a very different sound)
Sounds better when the Chords kick in. Still does not have the Brass or the Pluck.
reconmondations for which pickup(s) to use?
Yeah, by no means perfect, which is why I usually use a Variax. I was using the DiMarzio Area 67 neck pickup
How to turn a WAV to my multi effect preset?
Sorry, I’m not sure what you’re asking.
@@burningyen I'm using mg300 multi effects, how can I load the ir that I downloaded from the website to the nuxpreset?
@@yi2560 Oh, I don’t know how to do that since I don’t have an MG300. Sorry!
@@burningyen OK thanks 😊
Mh, doesnt sound anything near like an acoustic guitar to me. Sorry.. It sounds more like a cheap guitar into a cheap roland cube :/
Fair enough, Tino!
It is a "miked" acoustic simulation, not an acoustic guitar emulation. Heard something like it so many times. It could be improved though, but for the purpose of the video is great. Jut EQ it and you will get a very usable live tool.
