    I can relate to that 1000%. Hated training and eating things that aren't super tasty. Now it's hard not to excercise one day and food planning/preparing is just a regular part of a day, like brushing teeth or doing the dishes. The effect is quite logical: 43kg lost in 26 months.

    If i have to suffer even 10 seconds of another Ka-MAH-la Harris fund raising ad, before I hit the skip button I'm gonna puke. Do the content creators have any control over which ads appear before their videos? I LOVE Dr. Attia's content, but I'm so sick of the aforementioned shit.

    I don't like Layne. He's too clickbaity, or perhaps just too obnoxious in his delivery, especially when addressing controversial topics like diets. He has a tremendous amount of arrogance that he's like the gospel preacher of health and fitness. Passing on this one.

    • @Jorgie1944
      @Jorgie1944 Місяць тому +4

      Wow, I love Layne because he calls out BS with research. There are a lot of self anointed "health and fitness influencers" who can pass on a lot of bad info. I absolutely love that he does this.

      Also disagree, for me it's the opposite. I see him as not clickbaity at all. As in: He doesn't support any hype diets, or exercise routines. So I wonder what exactly you find he preaches to

    • @someguyusa
      @someguyusa Місяць тому +2

      @@BazzGamez Perhaps obnoxious is a better term for why I dislike him. He pretends to be well-informed when he makes crude dismissals because of studies, but he conveniently omits the problems with various studies or the general lack of funding for studies that would be necessary to really know in the first place. He behaves as if a lack of study is proof that the hypothesis is wrong, and that is an elementary mistake to make. Combo it with his smarty pants attitude, and he's a big no for me.

  • @bigirishe

    I respect all his knowledge of training. He's transparent about everything he does. HOWEVER, he's a tremendous bootlicker for a lot of "research" backed by people with very questionable ethics. I wish he would acknowledge that 99% of scientists agree with whoever is funding them.

    So much garbage here. So much of nothing. I dropped 50lbs and put on muscle at 55. Didn’t change myself into a new person or form a new identity. I just dropped some bad food and replaced it with grains. Trained 1.5 hours per week. 2 x 45 min. Kept it off. It’s not complex. You don’t have to be a deep thinker and make it complicated. Peter said it’s devastating if you had to take a month off. Garbage. I’ve taken weeks off and did not lose any muscle or and fitness at all. I don’t think you 2 should act like it’s so complex. It’s not.

    • @antonchilinski9729

      The data around atrophy with forced lack of exercise doesn't care about your anecdote. Peter has gone over this before. And as you age, the amount of time before muscle lost becomes irreparable shrinks. You're only 55 now but at 70 if you're bedridden for a month you'll never be physically the same again.

    • @jjr8220
      @jjr8220 Місяць тому

      @@antonchilinski9729 It takes months for skeletal muscle to atrophy. Type 1 and 2. I have seen people much older than me come back after months of not being active from a hip surgery. They come back to the same health they were in. It does depend on their level of fitness before the surgery and their weight. Peter is very thoughtful but he is flat out wrong on this much like his opinion on protein consumption. My anecdote is much more credible than biased studies and meta analyses that have been conducted. So many issues with these so called science backed positions.

    • @jjr8220
      @jjr8220 Місяць тому

      @@antonchilinski9729 Anecdotes or biased data interpretation. There are so many other variables. Level of fitness and how active you were play a huge role. People can bounce back from months of not doing anything and back to the same level. I’ve witnessed this many times. Anecdotes yes but I will take that because I have seen it. Don’t try to just dismiss what I have seen and experienced.

    • @antonchilinski9729
      @antonchilinski9729 Місяць тому +1

      @@jjr8220 I'm not trying to dismiss what you've seen I'm saying that what you've seen is unbelievably unrelated to what Peter is saying. You think it's relevant but it isn't. You said "well I took a week off and I didn't loose any muscle" that's not what he's talking about at all. I'll say it clearly one more time: there is a point of sedentaryism where muscle atrophy cannot be regained, the older you get the shorter this window becomes, it goes from years down to months down to weeks. You are 55, you are not at the point where a week off will hit that point. Atrophy doesn't begin day 1 either, but that time before atrophy begins also reduces with age. Therefore: You at 55 might not even be at the point where atrophy begins after a week, let alone at the drastic point where atrophy is unrecoverable. Your anecdote is irrelevant.
      If you won't actually listen to what the people in the videos are saying and instead insist on misconstruing what they're saying, why the fuck are you watching these videos. Go be 55 and healthy.

      @antonchilinski9729 Indeed. My husband had a hip replacement at 66. The amount of muscle loss in a month was astounding. He was not bedridden, but he couldn't exercise. He walked out of the hospital, day of surgery, with a walker. Two years later, the loss of muscle is no joke. Dude had huge calve muscles and they're gone. This is why Peter preaches about avoiding injury as we age. The struggle is real.

    Most people are wealthy due to inheritance and luck. People who are really physically fit do so due to hard work, consistency, discipline, commitment, mental tenacity, and diet. The comparison between wealth and fitness is not a good one.
