    I do believe thw difference between a low clocked 3700X and a Console CPU is still notable. Gddr has high bandwidth but CPUs care more for latency. So its actually a downside there. The caches are halved which is massive too. Yes its a monolithic die but that's just not enough here id wager

      It would be more focused to next gen consoles, so I'd hope it would improve

    I have a PS5 and an Xbox Series S. I honestly don't see a large enough difference between the two when it comes to actual gameplay.
    Like I'll be playing the PS5 version of a game, say GTA Online, and it will feel like I have more pop in of hydro towers than on my Series S, but the colours seem more vivid on my PS5. (both in performance mode on a 1080 p tv.
    Maybe I'd notice a larger difference in quality if I was playing on a 4k but I really don't see much of a difference between the two.
    If the Series S is holding back gaming than so is the mid tear graphics cards (xx50, xx60 cards) which dominate the market on PC.

    In this everlasting witch hunt, the funniest thing is that no mentions probably the biggest culprit: Unreal. Like have you noticed how poor are releases on Unreal for the past gen? You need an extremely talented studio these days to have a decent performing/looking game with Unreal.
    And with the recent release of UE 5.4, Epic pointed "greatly improved renderer performance" = the renderer is the process that runs on the CPU and tells the GPU the works that must done (and then renders the image, after draw calls are completed). Epic is literally telling on themselves here, because when you look at plenty other custom/internal engines, they're working fine.
    No the biggest problem in the industry is that the predominant engine used by a bunch of studios for the last 6-7 years is atrociously under-optimized, and if you don't have actual low-level wizards in your studio (like The Coalition for example), you have almost no chance to produce a competent game.
    So even before consoles have anything to do with this, the whole thing is rigged from the get-go. Thanks Unreal!

      I tested 2 different UE5 games. They worked fine. Devs still need to get better at the engine. I can throw some UE5 builds at this in another video

    I personally think that PS5 and Xbox series x are to blame for having the worst optimized games of all time this gen. WE give AAA devs so much performance that they just became LAZY and just threw away optimizing games all toghter because hey. THE PS5 COMES with a SSD and 16 GBS OF VRAM SO WHY BOTHER LOWERING texture streaming just leave 100GBs 4k uncompressed textures since the ps5 don;'t mindddd. I hate this gen, and devs ONLY blame the series S because they have to compress and actually optimized the game, yknow. NORMAL thing to freakin' do???? what happened swear were just having legit source code of files size. i wouldn't be surprised if they left source code in every NEW aaa game releasing.
    Personally think the best tech this gen is the steam deck and steam tells devs to optimized there games on that hardware and since its a low tier gaming pc it leads to devs actually having a refence to optimized there games. But hey i don't see people blaming switch, or the steam deck for holding back this gen.

      The Steam Deck is why I don't think the Series S is a waste.
      It's a very easy performance target for a handheld Xbox console. Since developers already support the Series S, a handheld wouldn't need any additional work from developers.

    Series S is my favorite console this. With fps boost many old games runs much better than on PS5 and the form factor is unmatched even by mini ITX PCs.

    Nintendo Switch need not apply for the simpletons who comment about gaming being "held back" by the Series S.😒 🫴🤡💩
    Edit) I imagine the Switch is like the Dreamcast compared to PS2 only WAY more successful than the Dreamcast.
