- Now that the PPF & coating are removed and the car is now corrected it's time to apply all our new coatings. We use Gtechniq CSL & EXO v4 on the painted surfaces & Wolfs trim & glass dressings for those areas. The paint feels amazing and the paint looks so much deeper after this!

Can I use crystal serum + exo v4 on the windshield and glass windows as well?
One more thing: can I use it on the gelcoat of my boat?
@@kingsterre You cannot use it on windshield and glass. If you're looking for something GelCoat based. Checkout our Marine line!
Beautiful. Can’t wait to see how Bead Maker can possibly improve the look. You hit the sweet spot with this combo!
Be aware that it is super crucial to use a second dry microfiber to follow up behind panel wipe or IPA/distilled. I didn’t notice the streaks that my IPA solution was leaving behind and the CSL permanently locks them in; unlike a wax! Unfortunately the directions mention this, but should be in a BOLD disclaimer. 4 days of prep for nothing. Hopefully the spots won’t be noticeable outside! 🤷♂️
Agreed. Polishing Windows you should have done before that..fairly large step missed for the coating lol - Car still looks great!
So in love with that car.
Ups man getting a work out.
Great video Matt! Thing looks amazing! Have you tried the Kamikaze Zipang yet? Just curious as to your thoughts on it.
So no more Powerlock/Collonite combo? I'm all about coatings as here in the PNW it's just makes it SO easy to keep your car clean. Look forward to meeting you at Plott's event this summer. Nice to work with another car nut. :)
It's still legit, but this will likely replace it for me.
Can you explain why, you use Crystal Serum Ultra LIght for your first coat and then apply two coats of the EXO? What do all three layers contribute? If Crystal Serum Ultra Light gives you about 5 years of protection, I am missing something. I need to understand what each product is bringing to the table.
So how do you make sure to not miss a spot? Is it very easy to see? Also would overlapping be too noticable? Unless it's super easy I was looking at cquartz uk3 originally, but now I am undecided
Guess the Jescar/collinite setup has been replaced with a coating now?
CSL/EXOv4 & Bead Maker might be the new Jescar/collinite.
Do you coat headlights?
What is your opinion on top coat f11
It is marketing junk.
That’s I thought about using it by the way you inspired me to start detailing two years ago when I was 12

This video just cost me like $300 bucks at the Obsessed Garage store. Dang it! LOL
CSL is such a pleasure to work with. Exov4 on top of csl is just magic. Gloss and slickness are of the charts! Car looks great Matt. You guys crushed that weekend.
A few years ago, a friend coated His GT-R. There were claims that csl could need to be wet sanded if left on too long. My first time using exov3, I literally wiped on/wiped off as I was nervous.
The color depth in that paint is amazing. Cant wait to see it after you later bead maker onto the paint.
1. Flash time is vary. Not always 30 second or 1 minute it depend on Temperature and humidity.
2. Use 2 or 3 different color towel to wipe down. Always fold it into 8 square. Change to a new side of the towel every 2-3 panels . First towel only wipe the area you coated, second towel spread the coating around the outside area, third towel spread it even more out.
3. Use glove when working with the coating (watch at 11:48 )
I love Gtechniq products. My favorite is C1 Crystal Lacquer. I usually top it with one of three things, EXO, Shine Supply Clutch Silica Spray, or Shine Supply Cherry silica wax. I've never used CSL, at least not yet. Can't wait to try it.
CSL is my favorite coating to install. Easy on easy off! I find EXO is a little streaky on the initial wipe then clears right up on the second wipe.
I'm just a weekend warrior and CSL is by far my favourite coating. Carpro uk3.0 is a great coating aswell. But the longevity and gloss of CSL is why it's my choice of coating.
Dylan Irv what is the longevity comparison between UK3.0 and CSL? I’m indecisive on which one to choose.
Just ordered some CSL and EXOv4.
I just received mine. Never tried csl. That’ll change later this week!
The Gtechniq foam applicators are sweet. They look better than those block things.
JP Details the blocks are actually better in my opinion. I have tried most of the common application methods and have found that the grechniq applicators not only absorb a huge amount of the product (requiring significantly more product) and tend to fall apart. The combo I have found that I feel is the best way to apply just about every coating on the market is by using a Kamikaze block (has more foam than the other blocks and allows the block to contour) paired with the microfiber applicator cloths that Esoteric sells. The applicator squares seem to be in the neighborhood of 300-350gsm and work remarkably well. They seem to spread the product incredibly well and I find that I use around 30% less product and am getting better coverage as opposed to using the gtech. applicators or the suede/mf applicators.
@@FlyingStuff have u tried autofibers microfiber block savers with microfiber and foam inside? How are those if u have?
Oh man I don't like this I respect both of your channels... Let's go out drinking together
Looks great! You still swear to bead maker for maintaince topping? What do you think of c2v3 for that task? Maybe diluted 1:3. Bead maker is still not available in my country..
Both work well. I prefer the look of Bead Maker.
Best coating in the business.
Great informative video Matt. I’ve seen you sometimes do rinseless washes on the 1M with ONR. Have you done this since the Gtechniq coatings? Do you find it effects the hydrophobic properties of the coating at all?
Nope, works well.
On gtechniq's website it says you can immediately apply exo after csl, I'm curious as to why you let it cure overnight
Doesn't know what he's doing. Exo V4 needs to be applied between 3-12 hours after crystal serum otherwise crystal serum will become so rock hard that any ceramic layer over the top wouldn't bond to it correctly. Between those 3-12 hours crystal serum is still slightly spongy, which is when it needs additionally layers applying for it all to harden at once together in unity.
Gtechniq USA says for Exo over CSL, apply immediately afterwards OR up to 24 hours after CSL application. The 3-12 hour thing is for Exo over Gtechniq C1. Matt's process was just fine and I'm pretty darn sure he does know what he's doing. He's worked with actual Gtechniq professionals.
Can I still apply Exo after about 36hr cure time? That’s as soon as I can get to it to put a top coat.
Looks pretty damn good man!
I can't wait to coat mine with CSL and EXO.
Great video man!!
I just applied this particular coating today.
Question…I know the coatings are prone to water spots while they go on their week curing time
Atm I have hybrid solution ceramic wet wax and ceramic spray coating
Can I use that as a topper over those exo and csl to prevent water spotting?
You can, but I'm telling you the OG drying aid is the best topper for this by far.
Have Crystal Serum on both my current cars and love it!
You should be applying the two layers of Exo V4 between 3 and 12 hours after applying crystal serum light for it bond properly. I'd suggest taking a look through the CSL Black treatment guide. Otherwise... nice car.
I am an accredited Gtechniq detailer.
@@ObsessedGarage Then you should know that Exo V4 needs to be applied between 3-12 hours after crystal serum light. Period.
It's not that complicated. Period. Loser.

Saludos
actually, did my car today. wash > clay > polish > pw > csl > xo4 x 2. after first wash liquid crystal c2v3 (7hrs apply time) vary easy, just time consuming. ..... instructions in box don't say how long to let cls sit before wipe. thanks for the video.
Thank you for these clear instructions. Does the product cure while on the applicator during the lay-down process? Do you recommend using a second applicator after 1/2 hour or so?
Hell yeah, getting that thing dialed in for the next owner!
Hey matt
If gtechniq crystal serum light is easier to apply and wipe than Carpro cquartz uk 3.0, I think cquartz is very sticky when it needs to be dried.
@ 11:45, maybe that’s another reason to use a bigger applicator so your not making your hand squeeze that small applicator for a long period of time...just maybe though
Am I crazy or was it the lights bc it looks like it changed the color or the car
I find Exo tends to make the paint look a bit darker
looks fantastic! If you could, please demonstrate the water behavior of EXO V4
I did my car with this it was great but in some areas I kept getting these dried high looking spots was that just me not spreading out evenly?
Los frascos se tapan entre carga y carga y ustedes son certificados?????
I generally don’t. I am certified.
Have you ever tried Beeds HD before? High End Detail in Miami uses it and the owner (Josue) is a distributor too. Figured sense you might be near by you would give it a try. I coated my STI lat year and my WRX before that and I love this stuff!
I’m assuming 30ml is plenty for a typical coupe/ sedan. What about truck/ SUV and Vans? Recommend 50ml?
I know it’s probably too late, but I just did my 2021 crew cab 1500 Silverado with a 50ml bottle and had maybe 10ml leftover. So definitely 50ml for a truck! 👍
Its more slick cause the coating liquid is thinner
Ha, ha... No
My God, I love that Valencia Oranje! Like the Range Rover Vesuvius Orange
Im getting ready to buy csl and exo to apply my car but i did already apply polish and sealant to the car along with bead maker about 2 months ago. The car still has zero swirls/scratches since its garage kept and have only put about 750 miles since i applied it. My question is how do i go about stripping the sealant and waxes off the car? Ive heard washing the car with dish soap works but im not to sure
I would use my Decon soap then do a quick finish polish with a white RUPES pad and Sonax Perfect Finish to prep it.
🤐 Amazing... Its darker and has so much contrast.
This is alchemy. Mixing two products from different brands and using personal methods and supporting materials.
That's a lot of love and research.
Wonderful video. Thank you for sharing this with us!!! That car looks AMAZING!!
Just get PPF and go for the Exo on top. Works for me. 👍🏻
Ok got the CSL and EXO on the car. Looks really good. My question is do you strip was every again just roll with the coating and maybe only decon with x remover and clay every so often. Trying to figure out how to handle this coating long term. In between I know I can wash and use bead maker as drying aid. Ok thank you
Don't mess with it. Just wash it and top with Bead Maker, C2V3, or ECH2O.
I’m not really a coating guy...yet. You might have me sold on trying CSL!
Hello Matt, Another great informative video. I have to say that I am learning a tremendous amount of extremely useful information from you about automotive detailing especially on ceramic coatings and I must say thank you. I am somewhat new to the coating world. I wanted to ask your expert opinion on topping up the topper EXO V4. You mentioned in the video that you will use Beadmaker to top it up. If Beadmaker isn’t available at the time, can I apply their GTECHNIQ C2V3 as the occasional top up and maintenance spray. Thank you, Howard.
Yep, C2V3 is good stuff. That works well too.
Nanoshock works much better and lasts longer than p and s bead maker. Try it out
also, why apply the glass sealant in circles rather than cross hash? Just preference?
Did you apply csl to headlights and chrome pieces?
Ok just placed my order and received so ready to go. Thanks for the video, I would assume you are throwing away these towels after wipe down? Thank you
Yes, I toss them.
Do we need to throw away the towels once used for EXO V4?
I still would never ceramic coat my car, the maintenance on these things are annoying; can't use soaps with waxes or gloss enhancers in them (95% of soaps have either one or both in it), gotta spend like 30-40 bucks on special soap free of all of that, even more, if you want a gallon.
wait, special soaps needed to wash a coated car?? First I've heard of this. I'm still up in the air on whether to use sealant/wax or a coating on our Mazda CX5 after I correct the paint. Obviously sealant/wax would have a lower initial cost.
@@Patrick94GSR any soaps with waxes or gloss enhancers will mask the properties of the coating, hence why I said special soaps because alot of the soaps that are just pure soap free of that junk cost alot more per ounce.
30ml or 50ml for a SUV like RDX??
Is it ok to put P&S bead maker on CSL like a top coat or C2V3 better in this case?
Yes, that is what I do.
Matt, during the paint coating, how long do you use the same 2 towels during the removal process before the coating crystallizes? How often do you suggest switching out those towels?
With CSL, you can do a whole car with two towels.
And just toss the towels afterwards?
CSL is definitely the next coating I will be using. 1M looks amazing!
Any chance in you doing a review on soft99 fusso coat?
You move like a robot. Relax 😎
OK, shop needs some stools for guys to sit on. You can sell OG rotating stools with your logo on top.
No sitting allowed at OGHQ.
Hey Matt, why not just coat with CSU instead of light if you're going to go through the process?
CSU is pro only. I don't have any.
Looks great! Is EXO as smooth upon application as CSL?
At 4:37 and so on i seen some bottles on shelf with your OG logo, what is that? I missed something
That's OG Decon Soap.
www.obsessedgarage.com/products/c1-citrus-wash
Curious question, which would you recommend. Gliss or EXO?
I like EXO.
I missed what product you used on the windshield? was it just exo?
Wolf's Nano Glass Sealant
does the wolfs trim work as a trim restore for faded trim also or just a coating?
It will darken it a bit, but I'd use Solution Finish first.
how long did you wait to apply EXO 4 over CSL?
It was about 24 hours.
Matt, could you coat the door / trunk / hood seals too? Or would the they then stick?
You can coat them.
Unless I missed it, I'm not sure if you said what you're using on the trim
Wolf's Nano Trim Coat.
www.obsessedgarage.com/products/wolfs-nano-trim-coat
When it comes to coating, is the quantity on the block a factor?
To some extent. Too little will drag and too much will be wasting product and make it harder to remove.
hello, is it possible to apply 2 or 3 layer of Crystal Serum Light?
It will not bond to itself, so only one layer.
@@ObsessedGarage thank you so much
Matt, couple of quick questions.
1. Power lock/wax or CSL/EXO for a daily that’s subject to highway use in a northeast state?
2. Can CSL/EXO be topped with wax after full curing?
I'd chose CSL/EXO for that task. No wax on top of a coating.
Obsessed Garage thanks! I’ll be ordering that up from you this spring.
raceteker Shine Supply do a Wax that can be applied on top of a coating. Cherry Wax it’s called and is a SIO2 based product ..
@@bretthamilton8658 Thanks for the suggestion. Any first-hand experience with Cherry? Seems a bit pricey for a "wax", especially since I plan on topping with Beadmaker as well. I've never used any of Shine Supply's products that I recall.
raceteker yes I do have experience and shine supply have a range of maintenance products for coatings starting with Cherry Wax can be applied by hand or machine less is more when using, then there is Clutch Silica Spray which is used as a longer term maintenance 6 months spray applied like a wax and can be left for a short or long time and is very user friendly and gives an incredible look. Then there is Punch it a synergy detail spray which is a shorter term detail spray 3months wipe on and off very easy to use as well... check out Shine Supply they do an incredible line of products and compounds and polishes ...
Out of a variety of products and compounds and polishes nothing comes close for userbility and how they look and perform...
cheers

Would you recommended csl coat rather than collinite and jescar?
Depends on the application, but generally yes.
@@ObsessedGarage ok I'll order it, thanks for the feedback.
Is that a 30ml or 50ml bottle of CSL?
30 and I had a half a bottle left over.
Have you ever used opticoat pro?
Yes, when I was at the Optimum training a few years ago.
Looking pretty good 👌
Perfect 👌
Matt you honestly aren't doing CSL right. Your way might work but it isn't by the book.
Yes I am.
@@ObsessedGarage Well it isn't the way Gtechniq UK teach. Period.
JP Details and what is different about the “right way?”
JP Details How Gtechniq have done it?
I think you would like kamikazes new coating, zipang. It’s based off the self healing characteristics of ppf. It last longer then ism and Miyabi but has the glossy (not shiny) look of ism. I would say the wipe off is just like gtechniqs coatings. It’s Near impossible to get your hands on. Unless you are a kamikaze certified detailed (i am). But for your own car I would recommend you try it , in the name of hunting down the unbiased best coating . It blew my mind because ism was my previous standard coating.
Yeah, I'd probably dig it. It's just too hard to get.
Can you add the pipettes to the store? I need a month or so for the weather to break around here. You just talked me into doing my first coating myself
