White Throat Monitor Lizard: Some Basic Info for You People

- I was at the reptile store and casually learned a lot of stuff about this white throat monitor. Always fun to learn about reptiles that I know nothing about.
Covers natural context, basic needs like food, housing, and temperature.
If only I had the money, time, space to keep one. Don't we all?
Leave a comment below for what other stuff you want me to film. - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
had mine 18 years
I was depressed for months but kept telling myself he's in a better place helps a lot
it was like losing a family member really hard
Wow, 18 years? Thats great. I can definitely understand how sad you must have felt, though. What was his enclosure like?
How big did your white throat get?
It’s been 6 years but to second the guy above, what was the enclosure like?
guys can everyone stop making comments about it being malnourished. the guy said its not his and it was a recent rescue at the reptile store. it is being nursed back to health
how do you know he is not lying huh!?
@@dr.priyadeshmukh-taskar5920 How do you know he is?
Your all fools 🤦
Thanks for a very informative video.
it is amazing to see this compred to savys
I don't actually own this monitor. He's one of the store's personal pets and was a rescue. They aren't very common where I live so I have no idea how much they would go for. Try looking it up on kingsnake, they might have some posted there.
Hahaha! I love Adrain, and Frankie is awesome. I am from Toronto as well fellow reptile fan!
so, what should i feed my sav. monitor to make a bite not to a bad infection?
Thanks, I'm a turtle guy but I love reptiles in general. Is there anything specific about large lizards that you want to see?
Another video like this one with basic information about housing and feeding would be great or maybe a video on how to handle these guys.
How to do you deal with the poops and smell?
You breed White Throats? I've tried finding good info on them but had almost no luck.
How much for a young one? How is their temperament? Would you recommend them as beginner, intermediate, or advanced pets?
Well... These are hard to find (captive bred ones). Wild caught ones usually die faster and the offspring always dies quickly.
I agree, I believe that live should be fed only if it's absolutely necessary.
Never saw one this bright... Are you guys breeding him... How much would a hatchling go for?
How big is your white throat every one??? Mine is an 11 month male and 37 inches/ 5 pounds
they are pretty big when it comes to girth both white and black throats can easily reach 6 ft
It would be cool if you could make more videos about monitors or maybe tegus.
that example dont look healthy to me. i keep white throats and savannahs they are more active when they are healthy pand keeped at the right way
Armand Foster , so you only feed yours once a week ?
what if you get bit
How big are your white throats everyone? Mine is 13.5 months old, 43.5 inches long and 8.5 pounds
my sister has a white throat monitor and it eats 3-4 large mice or day old chicken 3 to 4 times a week.It is about 2 foot and was born oct this year. Very active but not aggressive and does get fresh water every day and really likes a warm bath good pet cost £450.00 in the uk (Niles I was told are little bit more snappy told not to bother hard work?)
Clare Temple yeah niles are probably the most snappy monitors. along side asian water monitors. also where did you get yours. im looking for one and im in scotland. i wouldnt mind having one shipped from england. not asking for yours btw. just where you got it
R.I.P
They talked about Housing and feeding. o.o If you want that much im depth info just buy a book or go look it up.
I think you got me wrong there. I meant a video like this one but with another lizard as the topic. Not another one about white throat monitors.
but they are very nice monitrs
Go to VENOMDOC.com and bacteria never work that way. Science are always updating so don't be stuck in the same subject.
Nope, I own a few of these. I breed them. I have a feeding schedule for an adult:
Week 1 rat
Week 2 chicken neck
Week 3 boiled egg
This keeps on going and mine love, they're fat and healthy blah blah blah.
Damn, that monitor is so docile you can see it loves the rub...
@@douglaskelly5505 bullshit, he looks fine, he doesn't love the head rub tho
are these more docile than savannahs
Omar Henderson yeah i would say so. some people say theyre the same but i think black throats and white throats are more docile
totally depends on the individual animal. both can be pretty chill and both can have rare examples that would like to murder you.
He said tegus o.o
Does he look a little malnourished to yawl?
go to backwater reptiles they are 159
well theyve been called out a lot on sending dead animals. i font trust them
dont*
This monitor is emaciated.
It’s a rescue and being nursed back to health he said
LOL I heard you say is that a water motor has a bad temperament really I guess you don’t know what you’re talking about there kid. Why don’t you look up nerds I’ve bought water margaritas from there and they are not aggressive that very smart very intelligent I got to hand feed mine I will got A baby from a friend who had another reptile shop in New Hampshire which was about 6 months he great also
he's a bit skinny... 2 rats for 2 weeks is NOT enough.. they should be eating every few days.
john doe agrred
agreed
i was listening to you talk and had to laugh, the Water does not get no 9 feet neither does the Nile, the 2nd largest
behind the Komodo dragon.is the the Croc Monitor is only because of its LONG TAIL is te CROC then water and the Water is very tamable and smart. and if youdeal with the water all the time are dog tamewith no bad temperment like your describing, try looking up NERDS they will even prove it, i hand feed mine,
Lar Lemmon - Water monitors can approach and exceed 10 feet in certain parts of their range, particularly Sri Lanka where there has been a confirmed specimen of 10.5-feet. Also, Nile monitors can reach 8 feet in length. Sure, these sizes are are atypical, but they’re still possible.
water monitors are "bigger" than a croc monitor if you are going by anything besides total length or tooth size. but yea they can be really tame and smart animals. nile monitors on the other hand use their smarts to come up with ways to kill you.
They are arboreal. They need a tall enclosure with branches to climb. Poor thing.
Lmfao theyre terrestrial 😂
Hey look. It is guy who is saying you should risk injury to your monitor by feeding live because they evolved the hunt in the wild. That isn’t stupid, right? Nahhh....
I honestly don’t trust myself to feed frozen thawed. I feed live but always make sure my animals are ok. I feel like if you make sure everything goes well it’ll be fine.
live feeding can lead to aggression
no
where did u hear that load of bs
aspurr20 well technically it can but not actual aggression. it develops the knowledge to clamp on to something that moves and tear at it. it may just associate your hand with live prey. so this guy isnt entirely wrong guys.
"WHAT the heck " you all are a bunch of ALL KNOWING fools . Just enjoy the video.
He's so skinny and unhealthy looking;o
Cooked meat? 100 degree hot spot?? Please stop spreading this terrible information
this poor monitor.... so thin, dehydrated, and VERY malnourished by the way he drags his body... a typical white throat shouldnt let you pet him that much without being aggressive.
