What do you guys think of the 5 qualities - do you agree, disagree? Did I miss something? Would love to hear your experiences and thoughts! Thanks for watching 🙌 -Robin
“People won’t exactly remember what you say and do but they will remember how you made them feel.” Yes! This totally applies to the dance floor! Great video.
This is 100% what I think and I feel like an alien every time I express my point of view with a lot of dancers like I take it to seriously. Which is not true. Thank you for this video, it comforts me!
Thanks so much for the love Kamanda and so glad you connect and find comfort with it! I hear you, everyone has varying degrees of interest and desire to learn - some just want the surface level and some want to go deep. Really appreciate you sharing on IG too, I'll repost :) -Robin
I love the part when you said that I can be anyone that I want to be when I am dancing. Every morning I wake up dancing to Salsa while I am cooking breakfast and go over all the moves you guys taught in videos. I imagine myself in a Dance Club enjoying the moves and dancing with any partner. I really love all your teachings and advices. It seems like second nature now....Thank
Love that you dance while making breakfast haha. When you make dance second nature the expression becomes really pure. Keep doing you man! Thanks for the support as always -Robin
That makes me so happy. It can be easy to get drawn away from the heart sometimes, but that's where all the magic comes from - thanks for watching! -Robin
Very inspiring with lots of great wisdom! I really liked what you said about being comfortable in yourself and your skills. Also in having ease with your partner if a mistake is made 😊 It’s amazing how when a dancer is really feeling the music from within, it moves us too! It’s so important to overall have fun with our dance journey and make sure you it comes from a good place :)
Wow! Such a great video! I love thinking about qualities as a dancer and I already asked myself many of these questions before. Everything you say is so true! Great work! Greetings from Germany
Seems like you're asking great questions! Thanks for the love and really appreciate you watching and commenting. Stay well! Hugs from Medellín Colombia. -Robin
I've been watching your videos and working on my footwork, musicality, tension with my hands, the spin variations and so forth. More so the mindset and the nifty tips you give us are what helps me out a lot. On Wednesday and Friday, I went to Salsa socials. I haven't gone to a social in 10 or so months. Regardless of my apprehension I went anyway. It turned out to be really fun! I saw a few of the women from our Salsa class. While dancing I worked on finding the on1. Smiling, and not getting/ showing anger. I tend to get livid when I screw up. Not showing this unpleasant side of myself is not only attractive but it adds onto the Salsa etiquette. What you said about being an "arrogant" dancer is so interesting! Sometimes I wonder if my made-up turns and spins with the advanced followers is fine or not.. they all make faces 😂. Musicality, your videos are AMAZING!!!! I never knew the Congo had 4 sounds. I thought those were each their own instrument. Great video as always!!! I like the nooby advice videos because dancing can be so frustrating. Especially when you did not grow up with it. The socials have so many advanced students. After watching your videos I can blend in lol. All thanks to YOU 🙏
Glad you're back to socials and having fun! Staying positive and laughing off mistakes is definitely the way to go. Getting angry isn't a good feeling for yourself or your partners so way to go on that. Keep dancing! - Robin
De verdad! hay muchas cosas que puedan aplicar a la vida si o no? Qué interesantes son los temas de autoconciencia, crecimiento personal y aprendizaje. Gracias por el comentario y por ver! -Robin
Was that Robin with the uprock?!? HA...YES! Two things. First, I always love hearin' you break down dance concepts, metaphors and ideas. Many of your words reaffirm my approach to dancing, while also brings refreshing insights and aspect that didn't cross my mind. Second, I haven't told you yet, but thanks for the 'new prep module' in the Dance Dojo added recently (earlier this year I believe). Having a solid foundation of an empowering mindset is a skill worth having for dance, as well as all other facets of life; relationships, business, and simply being. As in the dance, so in life. While most dance courses wouldn't take the time to establish this connection, I'm glad you took the time to bring attention to it and underscore it's importance. Okay, until next video, keep being awesome Robin.
You knooooow it! haha. As always I really appreciate your comments Marcus. And so glad to hear you really like that prep module. I had no idea if people would be into it at but I love that side of learning and think the mental game is so important. You seem to also take a really investigative/reflective approach to what you do so good on you for taking the time to go deep. Thanks for sharing my man, always so appreciated! Hope you're staying well. -Robin
Ciao Robin, your explanation on the importance of approach from non-technical aspects is always very helpful and encouraging. Thanks to you, finally I have been starting to be able to create something on my own spontaneously even though it is still a very basic thing ;)
That's amazing Tetsuro! creation is the key. Always create first and then judge second. It's so easy for us to *edit* everything we do, and it's really important to allow ourselves to create from a pure place before we start criticizing ourselves too much. Keep it up and thanks for the discussion as always :) -Robin
Hi. I would like to know your stan on dancers , who start salsa after being trained in a different style of dance. I have done latin American ballroom and recently joined salsa class. Is it OK for me to do fast terns, like in samba for example or I should stick to 'relaxed ' style of salsa. Also I would like to know about technicality. Is there such a thing in salsa style? Does it look odd/ not appealing when latin( ballroom) technique is in fusion with salsa or it is simply your individual style? Thank you in advance
Hey Tetiana, I don't have ballroom experience so I can't speak to those dances. Music is ultimately up for interpretation if your dancing solo. If you're dancing with a partner what you do will largely be driven by the leader. And of course any dancer or non dancer is welcome and encouraged to learn salsa! And naturally you'll likely bring an aesthetic from your past experience. However always do your best to come with an open mind and learn the culture/dance your currently studying before putting a different flavour on it. There's definitely moments where having a more waltzy/ballroom frame works for slower songs or at the start of a song and first verse when the energy is lower. Once it gets fast it's best to stay relaxed and loose. -Robin
Great video as always good sir! I agree with most of it. I don't think the second is important to a great "social" dancer, as this dance is more focused towards that. If you want to become a grandiose and magnificent dancer sure. But Maybe later in the order of priorities in my opinion. If you can't connect to yourself, the music, or even your partner, does it matter how much culture you know? haha Quote them some culture facts while dancing :P. That aside, I do still think it is tremendously important to have a base minimum understanding of it!
Fair point Ivan! My points were in no particular order but I didn't really mention that did I? I do think that deep understanding leads to deeper expression (which often leads to a more impressive look as a result). Thanks for watching and the comment! -Robin

Muchas gracias por estos valiosos conceptos. Útiles de verdad, creo que aplican no sólo al baile, sino a muchas cosas
