- HMS Queen Elizabeth has left her Portsmouth home in the darkness of the night.
The flagship of the Royal Navy is embarking on a "routine exercise and routine training", according to Navy bosses.
Despite her leaving after dark, hundreds of well-wishers turned up and lined up along the walls to see her off.

“Undercover of darkness”…. Even at night it must be pretty tough to conceal an aircraft carrier leaving port 😂
It came up to Faslane naval base a couple years ago, I knew what dates it was coming buy not the time. I missed it in the darkness in the way up, and missed it leave before 6am!!
Was gutted.
I seen HMS Glasgow sneeking up at 6am by accident a couple of months back. They can disappear very quickly if you don't know the time.
@VIPICCB8 We have american satellites
Been watching The Warship on BBC. Fantastic documentary
Yes very good can’t wait for ep 3 but you do know it was filmed in 2021
Ronnie Lambert ...the young chef putting his cap on backwards when leaving the Captains table was hilarious!!!
Respect
Thank You so much
Fantastic
Any news on the progress of HMS POW repairs And updates to when she will likely return to active service Forces news ? ...
Spring 2023 according to the RN
@@thepymes funny that because even on the RN own website it's doesn't even say that ? And the last article that did say anything about HMS POW was 8/10/22 and says the crew will under go training over autumn and winter and while the work is carried out and return to active service as soon as possible ..
@@Pvt_Badger0916 BBC News: "Repairs to aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales will not be complete until the spring, the Royal Navy has confirmed... A Navy spokesperson said once fixed the carrier would return to Portsmouth". Also reported by The Times and many reputable defence journalists. The Royal Navy website typically only publishes things that have/are happening - not Admiralty planning.
@VIPICCB8 Well still both better than the Rusisan carrier that keeps catching fire everytime they work on it hahahahaaha
Trust me it is huge got very close too it on a ferry going to the Isle of White made us look like a rowing boat.
Yep huge, had a full access all areas tour last week. Truly incredible piece of engineering
Deploying at night meant there was something red satellites weren't supposed to see. Godspeed QEII.
Heading to the area of conflict..ssccchh you know where.
Well as the Prince of Wales is out of action with broken shaft
The QE is going pulling all the weight for the UK power projection
At this point, they may wanna consider a third ship built with CATOBAR
EMALS and AAG was not ready when the QE and PoW were being built
The USN has matured technology so the risk would be minimal now
She’s in Spain apparently, Navy website news
@VIPICCB8 those were “joint” operations smartass, and who says we need a third with that equipment?? also who does have experience?? Us navy hasn’t seen action proper since world war 2, and flight deck personnel? I’m pretty sure it’s not American deck hands on that ship.
@VIPICCB8 and yet america has never won a single war on its friggen own, get a life honestly, Britain is not weak, far from it, it’s soldiers training is the best in the world, and Americans in the field often said they’d serve alongside the British over any country, if that doesn’t say anything to you then clearly you think size is everything and anything titled American made makes it superior by default
@VIPICCB8 if we didn’t hold our ground like we did, you’d have been facing the Germans and the Japanese, the Italians and all other axis/axis aligned forces alone, doubt you’d be able to handle the pacific AND the Atlantic, going against lots of combined AirPower and naval power, alongside that enormous u-boat fleet? Think the us can handle that alone any better than the British? Who at the time were still considered numerically the top dog?? don’t make me laugh mate
@VIPICCB8
Hence why they may wanna consider a 3rd carrier built with CATOBAR for true power projection capabilities
nice description :)
Why make it so dramatic? Cover of darkness lol.. Translated into plain language thats departed on the afternoon high tide. Which happens to be after dark this time of year.. 😆
Won't get views
@@latch9781 True, But it is a bit ridiculous lol... Doesn't work on me, I'd be watching in person if i could. I certainly click on anything to do with the RN anyway..
You beat me to it.
where is she off to ?
Bit pointless reporting. Just a few lights and pitch black. Could have been Isle of wight ferry for all we know
UNDER COVER OF DARKNESS...?????? I'm no sailor but I thought that large vessels used the tides to aid in these arrivals or departures.
I bet she isnt going west though ..!
What good can it do East? With 12 F35 ? LOL
@@bigmatthews666 12 ? Nope .!
@@bigmatthews666 12 F-35 is probably enough to close Russia's abilities over the skies alone...
Will it be able to put aircraft on it?
Two squadrons of F-35s have been operating off of her for two years. Watch the BBC Documentary.
Keep up the great work. Hope to see the UK with nuclear carriers some day.
I don't, nukes need to go.
@@kopite8971 Why? Nuclear is better then conventional be it carriers, submarines, or even ships
there are many reasons that the UK went with conventional carriers over nuclear such as being able to dock in more ports and go through more countries' territorial waters, having to have supply ships for the rest of the carrier group anyway so fuel isn't a huge additional concern, astronomically more expensive for little gain.
@@mr_slidey "there are many reasons that the UK went with conventional carriers over nuclear such as being able to dock in more ports and go through more countries' territorial waters, "
There is such a minor difference. Off the top of my head only New Zealand doesn't allow them, the majority of the world allows them. Otherwise why not also make conventional submarines? Nuclear is better.
"having to have supply ships for the rest of the carrier group anyway so fuel isn't a huge additional concern, "
Nuclear carriers are the resupply ship in the CSG, so during war time, you need less ships to defend resupply ships if the carrier is doing it.
"USS Carl Vinson sets milestone, delivers over 1M gallons of fuel since January
The aircraft carrier has conducted 15 separate fuel at sea evolutions this year."
"astronomically more expensive for little gain."
It's not much more expensive for much more gain. All the fuel for a conventional carriers adds up while also needing to build more resupply ships and fuel those as well cuts the cost very close to each other as nuclear carriers need to be refuel once every 20-25 years. With nuclear propulsion you can have CATOBAR or EMALS, power future laser weapons, you have more fuel for your airwing, have a larger airwing, have better sortie rates, can refuel the CSG, can go on longer mission times(double) as you can hold more fuel, food and water and so on.
" Both HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales will keep 45 days' worth of food in its stores."
"The ships normally carries enough food and supplies to operate for 90 days. Four distilling units enable NIMITZ-class engineers to make over 400,000 gallons of fresh water from seawater a day, for use by the propulsion plants, catapults and crew. The ship carries approximately 3 million gallons of fuel for her aircraft and escorts, and enough weapons and stores for extended operations without replenishment."
nowt to do,,,,,,
with tides then?
Didn't want the new paint job on parade eh. Know what the navy boys are like for the old cover up job!
Have we got any planes for it yet or are we still throwing paper airplanes?
Worrying times This is a sign of War to come if you don't know
Where is the HMS Prince of Wales................embassering!
Imagine if she had some F35s on her... never seems to have any unless theres a tv crew on board 😁
A nice target for a Russian kaliber missile, bon voyage.
lol and you think that will be a win for russia? we have subs off their coast that will send missiles back
I love comedy!
Do you know why English girls aren't that sad when their men leave on the HMS Queen Elizabeth? They very well know it will be back soon after yet another serious damage 🤣
Damn i guess russian women know their men will never go to sea so they are extra happy as the carrier is always on fire?
British I've never seen so happy wow that's where our tax dollars are going 😂😂
Im first 🤣
Well done!!!
Why ??? It’s got no planes 🤣🤣 U.K. Military is a Joke

You mean aside from a current inventory of 29 x F-35B Lightning IIs with a further 7 due to be delivered this year? Enough to fill the decks of QNLZ should she be required for combat operations and makes her equal (in fast jet numbers) to France's Charles de Gaulle.
In comparison to who ? You may believe when you see the news articles but it's all part the new strategy to shame the powers that be
@VIPICCB8 How's the Kursk?
@VIPICCB8 They are under the water mostly from actual combat hahahahaha
Hoping it goes and destroys the black sea fleet
