I was just about to say that. Look at his little dance tho, its so cute.
we love andy randy
@@bucketobviously5499 oh god. Whenever I hear the words Andy Randy it reminds me of the tony performance 😂
:D
Yep, he's clearly just playing himself at this rate, and is clearly fanboying over Emma and Alyssa's kiss! 💘👭
@@theAlanaEdaJohnson omg isn't it amazing.
I just love to see the whole cast dancing, is a shame we cannot see clearly them dance because they change quickly the angle.
The kiss at the end is so sweet
I concur, that kiss at the end was so endearing, especially when the Broadway cast performed that song during the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade back in 2018!💘👭
I agree.
I think it was intentional. I watched an interview with Meryl Streep and she said that not all actors felt confident dancing.
@@danielchagas9338 That’s not why it was filmed the way it was she was just discussing how learning the dances went. It’s because it’s a movie so they were going for a cinematic look.

4:08 Alysa's little "okay" makes me tear up i dont know why
It sort of echoes her "okay" earlier when she first comes out. It's so unsure, not quite ready to trust that it will be fine, but hoping that it will be.
Every time
Same she's such a good actress
It's the okay at 4:50 for me
The fact that the musical and movie are based off a real chain of events is amazing! I hope the girls that The Prom was based on are doing well!

This is the perfect song to finish off the show! The best moments for me are either Alyssa's mother finally accepting her, MULTIPLE same sex couples walking into the inclusive prom, and Emma and Alyssa's first kiss on screen! 💘👭👩❤️💋👩
I know that the movie has been compared unfavorably with the original musical (some fair some not), but they honestly nailed this scene.
This scene in both the show and the movie has always reminded me of you can’t stop the beat from hairspray, it’s the perfect and cutest way to finish off a show
For me, it’s when the couples walk in. It gives me tremendous chills every time I watch it!
Not just same sex couples but queer couples of all shapes and sizes. There are a few trans and non-binary couples as well.
Her mom didn’t accept her but she started on the road to acceptance
Fantastic adaptation of the Broadway show. It's hard to believe that show didn't even make it to a year on Broadway. When live theater ramps up again and there are national tours and regional productions of The Prom, this movie is going spur some very good box office receipts.
This movie made me want to wait until the tour comes to California. I have my fingers crossed on that
Yesss I'd love a tour!! I'd totally try to watch it live!!
I think it was the product of the pandemic. I believe that if the pandemic didn’t happened it would be still on Broadway
@@TravelwithTasha393 The show closed before COVID
I hope so . it didn't win any tony award , that sadly makes it hard for a show to keep going. I hope that changes
Kerry Washington’s acting in this film is sooo good! Even in this scene you can see the struggle in her eyes as she still has this real problem with gay people but she loves her daughter too much to let it get in the way. I just adore her and she was a perfect pick for this character.
What did you think of the end? I personally think she went from homophobic from not waaay too quick.
@@princessmanitari4993 There was an interview where they explained that Kerry Washington just wanted to be a part of the dance, so they changed her ending. So yes, I agree it was awkwardly rushed, but it's endearing that she just wanted to be a part of the number and Ryan adapted to make it happen.
@@princessmanitari4993 She could still have reservations but since we know her husband left, you could say she went so she didn’t lose her daughter too.
@@jaymour. I think that makes such a difference. You can see how hard she worked on the dance which makes it fun!
@@princessmanitari4993 Yeah I definitely see that point, but there’s a moment in the coming out scene When Alyssa tells her that her life is already hard and I think Mrs. Green realizes it’s her fault. That seems like a turning point for her. But I might just be reading too far into it.
the fact that KERRY WASHINGTON wasnt supposed to be part of this dance scene but she demanded the cast to teach her so she could be in this number is amazing
Is kerry washington, the mom that thinks that it's wrong.

Apparently, according to Ariana DeBose, all the young extras you see here are all in the LGBTQ+ spectrum IRL.

I wish my mom could see that being gay isn't wrong. Like the song goes, love is simply love.
I cry EVERY time Alyssa’s mom talks to her. I wish my mom was like that 😂😂😂
This finale makes me cry every time! Love it
The mom accepting her gay daughter that quickly after hating the gay girl for simply being gay for the whole movie is a little too idealistic for me, but i can't help but love this ending either way
Yes! I think it's as if she always knew and tried to avoid it and when she sees that there is nothing she can do to stop them, she is like "I don't think it's right but I respect and love you". BUT the face she does at 08:05 was really ??
Sometimes I get annoyed by how idealistic and somewhat cliche it is, but then I remember that I have had too many ridiculously terrible Hallmark movie cliches and unrealistic endings shown to me as a media stand-in for true romance and think that this is far better
I don’t think she totally accepted it (hence the “we have a lot to talk about”). I think she just couldn’t hate her daughter
I didn't really have a problem with her accepting it, I find that some what realistic since she loves her daughter. What I find unrealistic is that she literally goes from just being able to accept her daughter is gay to being totally ok with her kissing her girlfriend in front of her. That's like just taking the training wheels off your bike and jumping on a motorcycle.
I think it was done like that for the sake of the movie and the musical having a happy ending

And also, we could tell the first room wasn’t right when we saw Emma in a Cinderella dress instead of the vintage tux she wanted to wear!
I actually loved that dress and thought she looked gorgeous in it. But it definitely didn’t suit her character’s personality and style so I’m glad she got to wear the tux she wanted in the end
7:19 The fact that Emma and Alyssa are the only ones facing each other gets me every time. Love this movie ♡

And this is amazing, one of my favorite musicals
Mine Too, it may have a few cheesy moments, but it's certainly feel good! 😍
It was the musical we didn't know how much we needed in. 2020
As much as Alyssa's mother bothered me, I'm glad she realized that loving her daughter will ALWAYS be more important than her bias against the LGBTQ+ community. It made me cry because I'm happy she realized that no matter what, Alyssa is her CHILD, and as a mother, it's her job to love and support her daughter, despite her own beliefs. 🌈
Every actor and actress in this film were amazing. Some were better than others but none of them were straight up bad.
I love the how the gate changes colors to match a rainbow. That’s cute.
*I cried when Alyssa’s mom said her speech* 😂
It makes me so happy to see this scene. Back in high school, I did not understand what being gay meant until I watched Glee and saw it's possible and acceptable to stay a man and still like other men. I wanted to take my crush to prom but I knew in a small province, it would be impossible to do that. Anyhow, I came out to my mom when I was in second year college and I was able to have my first boyfriend when I was doing my thesis. In my college, they held a graduation ball when we are all confirmed to graduate so I brought my boyfriend then even though I was so scared and wary of how everyone would think. This scene just speaks so much of what I went through and I appreciate this kind of showcase in mainstream media. I hope straight people will appreciate their privilege more and be called to be more open minded for an equal opportunity for anyone to be who they really are and love who they really do.
I wish I watched Glee back in high school. I was often too busy to watch TV. I got to watch on Netflix
*This movie was insanely good!! So well done. Beautiful movie as well*

4:03-5:18 The moment between Alyssa and her mom was the most heartwarming thing in the whole movie; Mrs. Greene is strong enough to put her homophobia aside for her daughter's sake and accepts Emma as well.

I frickin SOBBED because of the representation and when everyone walked in 😭😭
Saw the musical right before it closed in 2019. I didn't know for another year that I was bisexual, but I was so excited when the movie was announced. So when Netflix did drop it, I had JUST come out publically about a week before. I still can't watch these songs without crying. I never would have been able to come out in high school. I'm 27, and still haven't been out for very long. But this show always ALWAYS hits me where many other stories can't. Being bisexual and being afraid to come out even though I knew no one would care and I didn't think anyone would judge me? It's still a very difficult feeling. Hearing certain lines or seeing reactions on people's faces, I can feel everything. I know how hard it is to be in the closet. And I'm blessed this musical was here for me right as I publically came out.
7:36 just gets me everytime!!!!😊
This such an amazing movie this scene makes me cry every time I wish I was able to tell my mom I was gay and wasn't so afraid when she was alive, but I somehow knew she knew but was worried that in the people in our home country would treat me as a lesbian in a country where being gay is still illegal, I miss her every day and it hurts to see so many families that rather try to force their children to be who they aren't than love them for who they are, it was so touching to see Alyssia's mom became one of the few parents who rather love their child and come to grips that she didn't change that she was still her child that she has loved from the very moment she set eyes on her and that she only loves differently, I remember watching the performance of this very song at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and my heart was filled with so much joy to see two women like myself share a kiss of love.
