It's wonderful to hear Lee Sims playing. My piano teacher taught me from Sims' tutors when I was young and have been influenced by his style all my life. Fabulous music!
Next year a whole new generation will begin. their memories of growing up in the 20's. Hope they have as much fun as the last generation of the 20's did!!!
I read that Lee Sims influenced Art Tatum. Hardly shocking news as you listen to his runs and chord progressions. Three times played today. My wife taught piano for 25 years and is critical of self-anointed artists. She admires the way he played
Just wonderful. It takes talent to deliver from the roll the notes and rhythm you have emphasised. Thank you for sharing. Always lovely to hear your rendition of these great songs.
truly a wonderful song; another favorite to sing for "real music lovers" ...ha. my favorite vocal is by ukelele ike. lee sims is delightful; really enjoy his interpretations of pop music from the era. thanks for sharing.
Awesome, just awesome!!! You have made my day by posting this and all of your rolls!!! The piano has such a deep, warm, and beautiful sound! Great Job, keep em' coming!
Thanks, appreciate your comments, it is my desire to help "give good days" with all this... to most it is a curiosity, but to some, it has the effect is has on me. Again, thanks for your encouragement.
I have to keep watching this , it's a fantastic roll and I presume you are in control of the speed? Perfect tone for this type of music. Thanks for sharing!
@HarborGuy Romanticism was alive and well in the 20's & 30's, albeit in a relative corny way by today's standards. Yes it is a nice thought and it sold lots of music as people tried to associate with it.
@zypp33 Yes, the tempo is continuously variable. I try to do it justice although I sometimes err on the fast side.... I hate a song that drags on too much... :)
this is such a beautiful piece! i love see you in my dreams soooo much!!! its such a pity that real music has been lost over time, replaced by all this rap and r&b shit!! (i sound like my grandma ^^) its nice to see so many people still apreciating older music! i wish i was around when this was all more popular!! aparently i was born 50 years before i should have been cause i love all things old style ^^ if only i'd been able to see the beatles when they where still playing 5 miles from mine XD
Gee I hope you save this one. Lee Sims simply cannot be taken in, in 1 or 2 listens. It happens to be one of my personal favorites. Besides, It's still kind of new here...
Showed this to my 104 year old grandfather, he loved it and brought back many memories of growing up in the 20's
Thanks for sharing this. Music has a powerful way to stir old memories.
I remember this was stuck in my head for literal YEARS and I couldn't figure out the name, and once I just blurted it out, out of the blue!!!

So far, not too much.
and in Lee Sims playing, Art Tatum found a lot of interesting phrasing. Tatum's version of this tune is memorable

Such a beautiful verse melody. Watch the tribute to George Harrison version by Joe Brown.
Esther Ofarim covered this in her concerts since 2009.
@Huckabeezer Never fear, I am being flooded with messages not to do that.... so thanks for your concern.. besides.. who could delete a Lee Sims roll ?
@aknabea You are welcome kind sir.
Can I ask how and what you are using to record with?
It varies, but back then I used a Sony DVR and tracked the audio seperately with a Tascam recorder.
