    The title hurts our Pinoy brothers across the sea, buying a company doesn't mean buying the country. Foreign investment is actually good for domestic economy. There are laws and regulations governing these type of investments.

      As per today Singapore are power broker in regions that can get any business with both East and West superpowers. but still the Market are always belong to Indonesian, even country like Thailand and Vietnam who race in capital economy in SEA region still struggle to fight indonesian capital market both Inside or outside a country

    I am Indonesian, even though there are many bath soap and shampoo products in Indonesia.. I always look for products made in the Philippines, once I found a papaya soap product in a supermarket with a very similar packaging design but I knew it was not made in the Philippines, and I would not buy it. I am upset and angry. Why is there someone imitating the design of Philippine products here. I am very ashamed. For me, the Philippines is still great.

      @@user-rn4xk9dp4d correct, that's why those Forbes ranking of billionaire in PH are not that accurate, a lot of assets and investment offshore are not included I believe. By the way, check out who is one oof biggest investors in SMC, it them as well, the Ayalas, thru stock market shares.

    Any investment company in the Philippines can be 100% foreign owned as long as they do not hold any real estate property. A good number of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines are substantially held by foreign investors.

Henry is an indonesian born, but moved to the philipphines at the age of 42. Hartono kweefanus who is also indonesian, is the largest shareholder of monde nissin who hapoens to be the husband of Betty Ang.

      @@Kodsbah regardless, Monde Nissin is registered as a Filipino company based in PH. It taxes both in local govt and in national. And in PH law, Betty Ang being the Filipino c-owner was the majority owner @ 60% of the total company and only 40% to the foreign partner is legally allowed.

      Acquiring Philippine citizenship is a tedious process for foreign investor newcomer who merely wants to do business but don't want to marry a Filipino citizen to circumvent the foreign land ownership ban. Why not amend the 1987 Constitution and allow foreigners to buy and own real properties legally to avoid being scammed by exotic-looking but uneducated Filipino spouses?

    corruption is the main problem of the philippines and it is strongly influenced by the christian religion that they will keep denying thus continuously persist. almost all christian dominated religious countries are drowning in corruption, poverty, and suffering as these are the requisites for maximum control by religion and gov't. the colonizers used their military and forced religious conversion for this main reason.

    FYI, Philippines is the fastest GDP growth in all South East Asia today. Ph is, a Newly Industrialized Country, dubbed as The Call Center Capital of the World, etc.. Philippines is progressing fast and poised to become 1st world country, GDP of Indonesia is nothig because of its BIG population so Indonesia is lagging behind in ASEAN in GDP growth.

    the title is a bit misleading, generally a country getting investment from another country is natural to move the wheels of the economy and not necessarily buying that country, in Indonesia there are many Japanese cars and Japanese companies, whether Indonesia belongs to Japan, China has started investing in electric cars in Indonesia also.

    Thanks to the 1997 crisis Manny Pangilinan almost became bankrupt. they tried selling Fort Bonifacio to the Ayalas for like $200 million plus in 2001 . Ayala said still too expensive. They finally agreed for a pittance price of around $160 iirc. Ayala got a bargain and immediately developed the area into what we now know today as BGC 😀
