The Philippines is not being sold to anyone.
You know why?.. the main owner of PHILIPPINES is United States of America.. Since they bought PHILIPPINES from the Spaniards long time ago.. They only gave Filipinos a chance to be independent, but UNITED STATES is still the main owner of PHILIPPINES.. that's why China will never get a chance to invade PHILIPPINES.. never.. ever at all..

the title is a bit misleading, generally a country getting investment from another country is natural to move the wheels of the economy and not necessarily buying that country, in Indonesia there are many Japanese cars and Japanese companies, whether Indonesia belongs to Japan, China has started investing in electric cars in Indonesia also.

Thanks to the 1997 crisis Manny Pangilinan almost became bankrupt. they tried selling Fort Bonifacio to the Ayalas for like $200 million plus in 2001 . Ayala said still too expensive. They finally agreed for a pittance price of around $160 iirc. Ayala got a bargain and immediately developed the area into what we now know today as BGC 😀
