    Great job Greg. I've had the 90mm 8S since it came out but this one is definitely a step up in quality. Got to hand it to Freewing they constantly improve. Yup
    they definitely fly well!

      @@FatGuyFliesRC You should put your MotionRC Shirt when you fly those gifted planes... I hope it would be so :)) But also they should rent a new Hangar for you... Changing topics... did you do some mods on your Mig-29? Today I read there are a lot of mods needed for the elevator to work properly and don´t crash because of cheap servos, foam flexing or poor glueing and screwing. Also the BEC can be not powerful enough I have read. Of course. I could maybe flight OK but if one flight goes bad it is enough to send the plane to the trash can and there are a lot of $$ involved in that foam plane. I´m getting mine soon but I was sweating a bit. Also I don´t have so much materials to work with... that will be a pain in the ass, maybe...

    These approaches are practically perfect. Very nice.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    100% agree! Glad you love her! My poor 70 gonna be lonely on the shelf. The f16 8s is only thing more fun. (They need to carry sufficient amount of spare parts this is ridiculous)Hopefully you try some tailerons and enjoy her even more . Nice flying good to see your adrenaline pumping again!

      The 70mm flies great too. I always take my 3-year old E-flite 70mm F-16 T-bird when I go to the field.

      @@Hype_RC When you add tailerons, you lose 25% of your elevator throw. The max channel travel is 150% on a Spektrum radio. And when you combine aileron and elevator on one channel, each one gets 75%. That’s 25% less than 100%. However, you could easily get 125% if the stabilators were only used for elevator. You could also turn the aileron travel up to 125% to increase the roll rate instead of setting up tailerons. Yeah, I know. Tailerons look cool and the real jet has them. But real jets don’t use our servos and linkages.

    • @Hype_RC
      @Hype_RC 10 днів тому

      @ nice break down 👍🏾. I’ve separated each surface onto its own channel so each can be manipulated as needed for more control. (Maybe the taileron term is incorrect). I could care less about the number as long as my throws are achieving the performance I need . The wing type setup I used is from Jon on two bros which seems to be awesome setup and I’ve enjoyed it on most of my planes. The maneuverability is night and day. The plane turns and spins as violently or as docile needed. That’s all I care about and really enjoy it. I can put on a. Really decent show that was very difficult to achieve with stock setup. Pedal turns flat spins into and out of moves . Hope you still enjoy your plane these things are getting better and better .

  • @TheRCAviator
    @TheRCAviator 10 днів тому +1

    Seems like the aileron linkages were in the 2nd hole from the end of the servo arm on mine. I’d move them to the outer hole before I turned the travel up. I think this is the first video where I’ve seen you stand near the other end of the runway. But then you landed from the opposite end. Btw, don’t update the firmware in your iX14 right now. It has issues.. 😎

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  10 днів тому

      The middle and the other end were occupied, rare for me to have other pilots there. Good tip on ailerons, but they are screwed in ball links and can only handle so much adjustment before needing to be changed out to something more hardy.

    • @TheRCAviator
      @TheRCAviator 10 днів тому +1

      @ The servo end of the linkage is a 90 degree bend with a keeper. You can move those to the outer hole on the servo arm, if they’re in the second hole from the end like mine are. I don’t shorten the control horns to get more throw. That could lead to flutter.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  10 днів тому

      @@TheRCAviator Because that would be less resolution in the servo right? I knew that about the servo arm , i dont know why i said ball linkages i was thinking of my little f-15 I put together at the same time as this one...duhh

    • @TheRCAviator
      @TheRCAviator 10 днів тому +1

      @ Increasing the travel of the servo also makes it take a little longer to go from one extreme to the other. And, I wouldn't want it to rotate more than 45° each way because that would add some nonlinearity. Setting a Spektrum radio to ±125% travel makes the transmitter output the standard pulse width of 1500±500 microseconds and leaves you 25% for trim and sub trim. If you set the radio to ±150% travel, you won't have any reserve left for trim or sub trim. In that case, any trim will cause the servo to stop moving in one direction or the other before the control stick hits its limit of travel. This will cause unequal up/down, left/right throw at the control surface. The shorter the control horn, the greater the chance of flutter, so I try to use the full length of them. If I need more throw, I'll increase the length of the servo arm, but it shouldn't be much longer than the control horn. Control horn length is the distance from the pivot point of the hinge to the attachment point of the linkage. If a surface has too much throw, I'll shorten the servo arm. I try to keep the servo travel in my transmitter set to ±100%. Turning the travel down decreases the resolution of the radio.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  10 днів тому

      @@TheRCAviator i can see that, that even though the Radio says you have increased the throw the linkage is now weaker and causes flutter without a better control rod length.

    hi, nice flights, I would like to buy the f22 80mm can you tell me the pros and cons? can you tell me your impressions of this model? thanks bye

    • @FatGuyFliesRC

      Awesome plane and has more power to size than the 90 6s powered, the included gyro is adequate but not customizable even when using the app.
      Also the steering is very sensitive and in order to make it more controllable you must dial in a lot of expo and reduce the throws, however that steals from you flight rudders unless you seperate them and then perhaps a steering gyro. That is what I plan on doing, upgrading to a 8 channel Spektrum SAFE receiver and use internal GYRO (no separate channel needed) for the Nosewheel gyro feature on a new channel. Also the wind mitigation gyro will be completely adjustable to my preference.
      However this is my choice. The plane stock as shown in both my videos is feature packed power house that is a blast to fly and is almost a trainer jet.
      I don't regret dropping $500 on her despite already owning the new 70 and the aged 90.
      This is one bird that will REMAIN in my fleet!

    My friends Chris and Todd have the 90mm and turned them into turbines, ever think of getting into turbines yourself?

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  10 днів тому

      Yes I would love to but my field (and the only field I am willing to travel to) will not support Turbines , they would love to but we are there at the counties pleasure and could be kicked out if we violate rules like that.
