Camaro Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust Comparison (V6)

- Just a quick video I composed using my iPhone 6+. Its a 2013 2LT/RS. I am comparing the stock exhaust tone to a K&N Cold Air Intake and Flowmaster American Thunder Axle Back exhaust system. Personally I love the new tone. It has an amazing deep raspy tone at 2000 RPM and really screams when you floor it. I have had many people ask me if it is a V8. That right there makes it all worth while to me. :) I recommend listening with a good pair of headphones for the optimal sound representation.
Exhaust: www.amazon.com...
CAI: www.amazon.com...
Great Video! One of the very few out there!
Edit- Ended up getting his setup, can verify, it is so good!
I have been looking at many sites and videos this is by far the best sound I have heard I just ordered the CAI on amazon I have a flow master dealer in town I think its the best we can get out of a V6 Thanks for sharing it made my decision for me.
It makes me happy to know that I was able to help you make such a big decision on exhaust!! (: You won't regret it.
That exhaust sounds fucking good. Fuck everyone who hates on the rs
I love the sound difference just with the intake and axle back exhaust! I am in my last year of college and want to get a Camaro LT/RS just like that. That would be one amazing legit first car that is 100% mine!
Trust me, you won't regret the setup. Cheapest one out there and best sounding. Only other thing I might add would be high flow cats.
That's also a really good idea. The higher flow might give the exhaust and even deeper tone. I'm dead set on this lol
+Kyle Hayslett Yep. It might even give you some crackles!
I love the sound. I think I will go this route. Do you have a recommendation for the high flow cats? I appreciate the links you provided.
Kris Gaines Can't help you with high flow cats as I didn't get any and couldn't testify. I would look up reviews for whatever cats you are looking at but as long as it's a major brand I'm sure you've got nothing to worry about.
Videos just don't do justice.. butt best one I've heard so far.
you just helped me decide what im buying thanks!!!
My pleasure!
That is the way I want my car to sound thanks for tip.
Debating between this setup and the MRT 2.0, Such a tough decision since I've only heard them here on video! You did a great job!!!
Andy L Thankyou! You can't go wrong either way imo
Which one is mor aggressive sound mrt2 or this flowmaster
That yellow looks bad ass! I love your car! Bumble Bee!
Sounds good. The intake really deepens the exhaust note. On my 2011 RS I had Slp Loudmouth 1 and I thought it sounded ok. But I installed a BBK intake 6 months later and it sounded so much better right up until some stupid asshole who was texting ran a red light and t-boned me
totaling my car.
great job putting the good stuff on that rs just bought same parts about two days ago awaiting arrival . saw this video and damn. glad we got the good stuff !
Thanks man! I actually just traded in for 13 ZL1, but this is by far the best sounding combination for a stock V6 that I've heard. You won't regret it! It'll make you fall in love with the car all over again.
+Jonathan T damn and I was thinking about doing the same thing ! exchanging mine for a zl1 13 or a 2016 SS . Came to realize I didn't want to pay a car all over lol
tb101194 Yeah it's definitely a lot more money 😂 But worth every penny in my opinion. The 2013 ZL1 was my dream car so I have no regrets lol
+Jonathan T my girl would kill me if I got that car xD but its worth it I mean look at the 2016 SS it's worth a Zl1 and ZL1 has more power 😂😂😂😂 just that the 2016 has a beautiful look
tb101194 Yeah TBH I'd take a 5th gen over a 6th gen anyday 😂 5th gens just have that timeless look imo
thanks for the video man! Definitely interested in flow master!
I have a 2013 V6 LT RS and I will copy your set up for the CAI & Exhaust! Thanks for the nice video & info!
Rene Feleo Glad to know I could help!!
Where can you find the exhaust system?
I Really enjoyed what you've done here. It definitely helped me with making my decision. Thanks for the video and info!
Jim Adkins Happy to help!
My son has a 2015 V6 Camaro and he has the SLP Loudmouth Exhaust on it and it's way louder. It costs about $380.
Michael Reitz where exactly did you buy this and is it axle back or cat back just wondering because I’m trying to do something with the exhaust on my 2013 v6 camaro, I’ve been looking and I found the loudmouth but i didn’t see it for a camaro and then I found what this guy has so I was just wondering...?
Great vid, thanks for the upload. I have a 2015 2LT with RS. I was considering doing the same build as you. I was wondering if you had a noticeable increase in acceleration/horsepower with the upgrades you have done. Either way, great sounding car man.
The CAI definitely helps a little with the throttle response. The exhaust, not really. It's just there to sound good 😉😂
u only changed the cold air intake and thats it because it sounds good asf !!!
If I have kids, is good for me? Or is too loud in cabin please.help me
I've got a 2015 1LT and am looking for the right sound and yours sounds great. I have put on a CAI cold air intake and that alone changed the sound of my exhaust to a slightly deeper tone. But, is there a lot of interior drone?
yes i fucking found this fucking helpful!!! thank you soooo much, the sound is awesome thats the sound i been looking for. thanks for the post!!!! im ordering it tonight!!!!!
I don't think you'll regret it! This the best sounding modest exhaust you can get for a V6 Camaro imo before it starts to sound ricey. Glad I could help!! You'll love it when you hit the 2K rpm range 😎
Man I'm sold. I was on the fence, listened to a bunch, your video actually does a better job demonstrating the effect of the upgrade better than Flowmaster's own video!
Jonathan T love it. I have several classic muscle cars and this sounds Cole to the real deal. What is the name so I can put this on my 2012 CAMERO RS.
Close
😁😁😁😂😂😂😂
Sounds amazing
Very nice!! Love the sound!!!
Thankyou!
I am getting the k&n cai soon for my 2013 camaro v6, i already have the axle back flowmaster american thunder and i love it already
Ryan Dubs Awesome! Yeah the CAI will help with your throttle response and even give your exhaust a slightly deeper tone.
+Jonathan T That would be bad ass, i cannot wait to hear it with the k&n cai it is going to sound sick!!

If I buy a camaro I’m doing this
If you buy a Camaro, cough up a little extra coin and get the 2 additional cylinders. Or don’t and “sound fast” while not actually BEING fast.
@@bigwheel9132 or just properly twin turbo your v6 and dyno it.. pushes more than a stock v8 camaro, for cheaper..
@Nairovirus Cheaper is relative. Reliability will always be a factor when you start talking forced induction. All things being equal, there’s no replacement for displacement. Whatever you do to the v6, were you to do it to the v8, the v8 would make more power at lower boost AND throughout the entire rpm range. The modded v8 will be more reliable and have WAAAY better aftermarket support/ options. Nobody wants to be the guy with a v6 pony/muscle car. It’s a hooker with a penis.
BIG WHEEL hence why I stated that it's a stock v8.. obviously if you modded the v8 it would push more than a twin turbo v6.. but if "budget" is why people buy v6's and still wanna have a chance to compete then turbo it and it will be for cheaper.
and what's your definition of being fast? as you emphasized in the reply to that other user..
I got a 2010 2LT Camaro, but Amazon is saying the CAI won't fit it. Should I ignore this, or is there legitimately a difference between the fit for a 2010 and a 2013? The exhaust is compatible.
retrosamurai I can't say for sure, but I do know that the 2010 V6 is different than the 2011-2015 V6. You can actually put headers on a 2010 V6. The 2010 also makes slightly less power than the 2011-2015 models.
Sounds Great, I'm looking to the the same on mines what model number is your exhaust?
Check the description. I updated it with the exact links where I got mine from! :)
Thanks I just got the same model installed on mines a few weeks ago! huge difference on the car now, your video was very helpful.
Ivan Almonte I'm happy to help!!
How does this exhaust (which sounds amazing!) pair up to the MagnaFlow? I am having such a tough time picking one...but the MRT 2.0 in my opinion is just too high pitched.....
Terry Lindsey I honestly can't say for certain as I haven't studied or been around the Magnaflow enough.
I have a 2014 V6 Camaro as well. How much was this? I'm just curious, sounds great! The flow master one seems cool
About 900 bucks give or take. I have links to both of the products in the description. You just have to find the best place for labor. You'll like the exhaust!
Jonathan T Hmmm okay. I'll definitely look into it! My mom doesn't exactly want me to get the exhaust so it'll be further down the road... Haha I'll see!
Also, did the exhaust void the warranty?
Haha I understand man. And no it does not! Unless the dealership can prove that the aftermarket part is to blame for the failure of the car, the warranty is perfectly fine.
Jonathan T Ohhh okay I seem I imagine an exhaust won't exactly "break" anything unless I get a faulty person to do it... Do I have to purchase two exhausts cause I have the 2 pipes or do these come in a set of 2?
Buildingblox17 It comes with a set of two. Every 5th generation Camaro has 2 exhaust pipes (V6 or V8).
I just bought the same color Camaro do you have a problem with bugs resting on it???... every time I go to my car there’s about 100 fly sitting on it, I heard it was because of the bright yellow color.
6ftBeauty lol if the car is new it’s the wax that gm puts to make the paint last and stay shine mine was summit white and every time roof was full of bugs
You need to delete the resonator and install a H-pipe.
How much the exhaust system? is very loud man nice video
Geez bro I have a 2014 camaro rs and I wanna know the exact muffler you put on to it to get it to sound like that? was it the flowmaster super 10? or 40? 44? what is it exactly please
Nice car,my car is like yours yellow camaro, but i have zl1 hood zl1 black 21 wheels and zl1 front bumper, now i’m installed rear bumper zl1 and four terminal exhaust(sorry for bad bad bad bad bad bad english, but i’m italian)
If I have kids, it is good for me or avoid put this mod on my Camaro. Someone can help me. Thanks. Is it too loud in the cabin?
Do you also need to buy the CAI so I can sound like this
It sounds better than stock, and I might consider it for my v6 Camaro, but unfortunately it still sounds like a v6. No way it even comes close to sounding like a v8.
You’d be surprised though, the start ups and low RPM are very deep for a 6 cylinder. It’s only when you floor it that you can really hear the V6
@@NobleLegendStudios I'll probably end up going with your setup. It's always hard to know until you hear it in person. Thanks for making the video brother, definitely helpful.
CaptynZodiak Glad I could help!

Is the v6 a good buy?! I obviously would love a v8 but pricing is so different. Lmk!!
I bought a v6 and it is a great car, but if you want a little more horse power then the v8 is your car.
Nice car, Jonathan! lol
Nice name, Jonathan! (;
Where can I find this exhaust set up at a good price?
I just got rid of my Camaro that was like this. It always frustrated me that it had a v6 instead of v8. It sounds like a v6 still it will never satisfy you.
Yeah that's why I ended up trading it in for a ZL1 lol 😂 But I will admit it sounds damn good for a V6
Truth. Im in that situation right now, I have a v6 Camaro but about to purchase a BMW 550i which has a v8 and has that undoubted v8 muscle sound in pure luxury.
Where did you buy the exhaust from? It sounds great!
Amazon
I used to live there
Will these 2 products fit on 2011 camaro ls v6 model ? Can u please help me out
chrisqzone Most definitely!
Did you install the Flowmaster to the stock exhaust manifolds or did you add headers?
Stock manifolds
Thanks for the input. I wonder how shorties and the flowmaster would sound?
how much did u pay for full exhaoust mod and labor job??
Probably about 1100 bucks.
+Jonathan T perfect, you think I could fit this one in my car
www.carid.com/2014-chevy-camaro-air-intakes/kn-air-intakes-typhoon-series-354602.html
radion sokol Hmmmm. That's a 2014 CAI Intake. From what I know, 2012-2015 should have nearly identical engine bays. But the website specifically says 2014 so I wouldn't try to fit it on a 2013 or below. I bought mine off of Amazon because they usually always have the better deal.
cool can u send me the link where u bought it from bro
cool can u send me the link where u bought it from bro
Did you remove the resonators as well ? I just bought the same for my Camaro!
No sir, I did not delete my resonators. I’ve heard people do that with this setup before. It’ll definitely be a lot more higher pitched if that’s what you’re looking for
@@NobleLegendStudios the opposite.... the resonator delete replaced with an X pipe actually deepens and brings the car to life. It's way better with an X pipe over where the res was
Just delete your res you'll be happy
@@LuciferVeniYT sounds good but the drone is too much in the cabin
@@kevin-qc7zv I do agree. The cabin is sound insulated fairly well but yeah the drone can be a bit much, just don't dump the throttle at lower rpm and I find it doesn't drone too bad. But drone Is increased for sure. V6s can sound good but it's easy to make them sound bad
I had people ask me if my old impala with the 3.4 was a v8 because of how burbly it was idling. But my 2012 imp has this engine and custom true dual x pipe system. And there is no mistaking these engines for a v8 they are too high pitched.
Did you have it welded on?
Anybody here received codes after removing both mufflers and just straight piping to the back tips
Did you have to buy two or just one?
John Tungpalan it comes with the pair
Suena como los carros electricos. Use magna flow super cool.
Bad ass
Bro really said people ask if that’s a v8
where did u buy all the stuff?
EddieBoy B Amazon. Links to items are in the description.
how u aree so rich to affard thies??
You just gotta find a decent job lol
they're going at a real good price right now. just picked up a 2015 with 20k miles for 18k
+Evan Wheeler Yeah it's crazy how fast these cars diminish in value over a short amount of time lol!
+Evan Wheeler I own a g37 coupe for 4 years, a nissan 350z for 3 years and 4 days ago i went to a dealership to try on american cars and tested 3 v6 vehicles. the Camaro just BLEW ME AWAY for some reason it pulls way faster than my g37. so picked up a camaro 2012 LT MANUAL with 23K miles for 12K its just fucking awesome and fun to drive. I was lucky to get it because here where i live its all about hills and nobody drives manual loldefintely im sticking with american cars from now on :D
Would it sound similar if it was on a 2011 camaro rs without the k&n intake
Dude if you're doing a close up of anything make sure car motor is clean!!!
This video is for educational purposes. I wasn’t concerned about how clean the car was
Heh you're in Frisco aren't you?
Nice car
Thankyou!

PROBABLY ILEGAL IN CALI
The K&N CAI is actually legal in California. There's paperwork that comes in the box. The K&N actually improves gas mileage. The exhaust system I don't believe would be legal in Cali however.
I feel that this exhaust isn't that loud, In California, you only get pulled over if the cop feel it is obnoxious loud, but you can pulled over for anything
Lol as long as you don’t pull up next to me reving you good
ImJustThatHemi R/T slower 0-60 than a 2016 v6, r/ts aren’t really anything to be flexing.
Lol you got a cobra in the cut.
Yeah that's my buddies 😂 he was the one filming for me in that shot lol
اجمل سياره 😊
texas! :P
Yessir!
"deep raspy tone" .... you do realize deep and raspy are two completely different things right? It sounds like a V6
It is a V6.
Jonathan T Yes I know, and V6es are generally notorious for being raspy, even when deep they're not great sounding so might as well make em as quite as possible w/ making the forced induction as loud as possible like a high pitch whine or whistle
You are right that it's impossible to make a V6 truly deep, that's why I ended up trading in for the ZL1. But when I got that exhaust, I was trying to get it as close to a V8 as humanly possible without getting that annoying high pitch sound that the MRT exhaust and others produce. I got people asking if it was an SS so I think it was a success lol. But to the trained ear anybody can tell the difference between a V6 and V8.

Jonathan T Yeah if you're stuck with a performance V6 car... really any V6 car let alone my 3800 (one of the worst sounding motors ever) you might as well get used to the horrendous noise.
Sounds worse think ill keep my exhaust in the box until i can get a bigger cam for it
Meh not as loud
Honestly dont sound good
Stock sounds better
My 2017 2.0 4-cylinder camaro with this same exhaust system sounds was deeper and louder especially with a cold start. Idle is louder and deeper too. Them 5th gen Camaros are ass
V6 = Gay
Yellow Color = Gay
The automatic sounds like shit.....Get a man pedal
Who buys a v6 camaro?
JUST BUY THE V8
I traded this one in for a ZL1 😂 But some people can’t afford the V8’s
@@NobleLegendStudios I mean you are very right but it just dosen't sound right. I had a V6 as well. So i totally understand
