  • There are only a certain number of people who, throughout history, have garnered such a reputation that the utterance of their very name strikes fear in the hearts of men, women and children alike - and the topic of our first video on this channel is certainly one of them. Although he was once known as Edward Teach, the world knows him colloquially as Blackbeard the Pirate - the most notorious seafaring villain ever to sail.
His legacy is even larger than his life - his name and face are associated with almost anything and everything pirate related and he has been the subject of films, games, books and television shows alike. Yet, despite the fact that he's one of history's most famous faces, how much does the average person know about Blackbeard? Certainly, we know what he was famous for, but what about the finer details? Who was this man before he became such a feared pirate, and what did he do in his seafaring career to warrant such a notorious reputation?
Today, we will be talking you through the life of Blackbeard the Pirate, from his early years in the late 1600s as a child growing up in Southern England, to his piratical activities in the Caribbean in the 1700s, right up until his bloody death in 1718. We will explore the little known facts and specifics surrounding the life of this legendary pirate, delving into the truths and myths that led to him becoming known as the most feared pirate of all time.

Good video though there is one last myth I would like to put out there. When they tossed his body overboard supposedly it swam 3 laps around the boat till it sank. Call it the tide doing its thing, but it's a cool last potential image to have in people's heads as the "last thing you did"

They hung them overboard and past him aboard the ship as though his body is for the taking so that his bad luck will not take the ship and crew with him. It would take 3 days for his body to completely Fall Apart so everything's kind of lines up with science to the myth.

I thought it was his headless body swam around the deck 3 times as so much blood had been spilled

There's a book with several first and secondhand accounts of people taken prisoner by Pirates, simply titled "Captured by Pirates"
It was a gruesome read; especially considering I got it in 4th grade at my school's book fair. Lol

Maybe, his hand to hand combat was lacking. Maybe, he wasnt the best swordsman. However, it's pretty agreeable to state that sailors, good or criminal, were "hard men" and black beard was able to take from these hard men.
Imo black beard was feared for good reason!

Well, it is common to say that history is written by the victors but that is not always the case. History is written by the most advanced communities and civilisations whether they are victors or not.
So was the history of the battle of Kosovo written by Serbs and the History of the battle of Avarair written by Armenians. Their History is reminded today as the one of the victors has fallen into limbs.

So I'm sure this is going to be great and all but as a new content creator I must inform you that many of us pirate enthusiasts have already had our impression of Blackbeard permanently imprinted by his depiction in The Internet Historians Stede Bonnette movie. The same of course goes for Stede as well of course.
Good luck following that shit my dude 🙃
