Ive been tattooing since 1999 professionally n i appreciate you helping the new generation..🤘you know alot for only tattooing for a few years...keep up the good work bro...🤛
This video was so helpful! Thank you Daniel for going over ink splatter and pooling so in-depth. I have been having the splattering issue as of late and it has made a great case for the face shields! Pooling has always been an issue for me BUT it has slowly become less and less an issue (I have been a deep dipper too but am trying to pull back more!) This video was invaluable and I will be taking your words to heart. I have been running around 5.90v/6v, so I've been staying away from the 7s and 8s! Thank you for all the work you put into this community you have creates! Blessings to you and your family brother! You are appreciated Daniel!
I started only dipping the tip of needles and it completely removed pooling and splatter. I normally keep my needles out about the thickness of a quarter. I've done 10 different tattoo's this way recently and it's helped a ton with line clarity. My other issue is finding a hand position that reduces shaking but doesn't rub off the tattoo Stencil
@Ink4Breakfast thank you kindly, friend. I'll have to use that quarter visualization trick with tomorrow's practice. It is something that sits well with the way I visualize things. As a lefty, I completely feel the pain of the stencil smudge and that balance with hand position between it and shaking.
Thanks for the tutorials! I did my first human skin last night and your video on depth was great! The persons skin and location and shape of tattoo design he wanted was horrible for a 1st timer. He knew well it was my first time and decided to give me a trial by fire! Chest tattoo, pectoral, that extended to the armpit area w the primary features of the tat being big circle bands, triangles all interwoven, and runes. I was like...dude, no friggin way! He insisted, I insisted on doing it in fake skins several times first, he gave me 1 chance to practice it once on a fake skin then made me just go for it. The ONLY reason I went ahead and tried a tat like that was the bands, triangles and runes were all gonna be blacked out solids at the end so its very hard technically to do that tat especially for a 1st timer however because its all blacked out bands it's very forgiving as if I wobbled or a line goes slightly astray it gives me the ability to pull a new perfect line slightly outside the wobble catching the wobble inside the area to be blacked out. If itd been a single lines type tat itd have been BAD but since its all filled with solid black its very forgiving as long as I can run a perfect line to hide any wobbles then the bad lines get blacked out on the inside anyways and the oopsies vanish. So it looks really good at the end whereas if it wasnt a solid black shapes tat itd have been bad. Was terrifying. His skin doesnt absorb ink at penny depth, had to go quarter depth so I kept my needle nickle depth out from the tip to know if I see a bevel edge ink line start following my main in a moment of distraction I can instantly correct wo having gone any deeper than 1.9mm. I started penny depth and his skin said, nope, not accepting ink at penny depth, so I went to quarter and the ink sucked up like a sponge the split second I got deep enough. Was so scared! I told him, you just HAD TO choose the hardest shape imaginable w huge perfect circles on the torso. Couldnt pick an arm or leg or body part that doesn't breathe w the stretchiest, weirdest skin texture near the arm pit huh? The hardest tattoo you could imagine for an artist? Circles even kill regular artists and you want me to pull of 4 perfect circles over 4 inches in diameter my 1st tat?! I told him those bands may end up slightly thicker and they did end up slightly thicker to hide a couple wobbles that occurred by capturing the ones inside a more peefect edge line cause I had a few wobbles big enough to not hide by a simple 2nd pass over. But the black out interior of the bands will allow me to vanish the wobble lines by containing them within the border edged by perfect lines. I found with circles that are big the best strategy for me was 0.5-1 inch like pulls cause if he kept breathing during circles wed end up w a real time permanent tracing of each breath like a heart monitor. So we had to do breath holds which allowed 0.5-1 inch line each breath hold and that allowed me to get the whole circle outlined smooth and clean and hide the breathing pattern lines inside the part to be blacked out. I also had to go over a couple rules to fix shapes but out of over 20 runes only 2 needed me to pull likes slightly outside the initial border line of the shape to smooth which again will be blacked out so I can hide the wonky 1st pass line inside the blacked out shape. I would recommend first tat choose one w blacked out shapes as the end game goal so any whoopsies can be hidden by the ultimate black out. Its more forgiving and gives you a chance to redo any lines nice and smooth at the end and trap the mistake inside the black out shape so you can simply vanish it and then it looks like you did a great job when you know how crappy it looked 1st pass in some spots that the black out now hides and makes it look like you absolutely nailed it...even if you absolutely did NOT nail it but set your self up for success by a forgiving tattoo that allows you to vanish mistake lines inside blackout shading. Its a lifesaver design choice!
Thanks so much for this video, i'm fairly new to the game. I thought the pooling thing was something that I was just going to have to struggle with & after watching this i've figured out my faults. It's gearing to the whole high voltage while actually dipping to get some ink thing...I can see why that makes sense. I most def subscribed my brotha' thanks for not making me feel hopeless & afraid to continue wanting to do this on anyone other than myself lol
Thank you Richard! I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to leave me this kind feedback. Thank you for your time and support. You are appreciated.
Haha thank you for the feedback and thank you for your time! I appreciate you. Should you have any questions along the way don't hesitate to leave a comment and I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction.
I feel if it is the Aquaphor that is the petrol base and not a cream base we can use it for tattoo practice. Aquaphor is pricey so I would recommend using some amazon basics petroleum jelly. Below I will list my Amazon affiliate link for you incase you want to check it out on your end. Amazon Basics Petroleum Jelly amzn.to/3VPgXRf
So for something like using a 14rs for lining I should turn down the voltage and slow my hand speed? I'm using Mast pro carts and it's been hit or miss with pooling with their round shaders for me. But I'm new so I'm asking.

Thank you as well for your time and for your continued support! I appreciate you Santiago🤝
Turn down voltage..add another rubber band.. Those 2 things always worked for me.. On coil machines anyway
Daniel you are amazing …. Thanks a ton
You are the man. Much love brother thank you.

The LOL part tho. 😂😂😂 It happens. 😂
😂😂 It caught me off guard and took me back.
How is stroke going to affect this? Stroke of the machine in the video for reference?
Can I use aquaphor as glide until I start working on actual skin? Is there a reason not to?

I have a question....when would you apply that thin layer of ointment to the area you are going to tattoo, before or after the stencil product?
After, you’re using the ointment for glide, to help the needle glide across the skin.
So for something like using a 14rs for lining I should turn down the voltage and slow my hand speed? I'm using Mast pro carts and it's been hit or miss with pooling with their round shaders for me. But I'm new so I'm asking.
man i could never tattoo someone else other than me way to scary
omfg this is the main problem ive been having
