We are so glad to have found your site. My wife visited Africa last year, and now has started a charity to help the women sew to make clothing for themselves. Her friends are in Uganda, and we are restoring the old machines and she takes them over there so that they can sew clothing even if they do not have electricity. Your videos have helped so very much. My wife has been a seamstress for over 40 years, and your videos are still teaching her about the "old way" they were done. We cannot thank you enough.
I just loved reading this! Please thank your wife for me for all that she is doing. How beautiful to serve others in this way. I have some sweet friends that have a ministry in Peru. They have donated many machines there and go often to teach on how to service and sew with them. I’ve had the honor of restoring a couple of them. Praying for continued success and safety as you and your wife serve in this charity!
thanks for these videos! I've been cleaning up an old singer 99-13 from 1929 and these videos have been a huge help. I was just thinking yesterday before this one came out, that I hoped the next would be out soon. ❤
You are welcome! I work on them as time allows, I wish I could get them out faster but I just keep telling myself that once they are done they will be here forever!
I’m loving this series.
Me too!
❤ have a wonderful day!❤. I enjoy your videos🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much!
You explain so well, thank you 😊
You are welcome!
Thank you for your clear, detailed, calm, well thought out, perfectly paced presentations. It is a delight to follow your tutorials. I've watched countless videos on repairing machines and yours, for many reasons, stand out by far. I have an early 99 (1926) that I'm working on along side of you and we both can't wait for your next video! (Probably should have waited to start the disassembly until you finished the series, but I just couldn't resist!)
Hi! You are so very welcome! More videos are coming, sadly I got so busy with other machines I put it on hold for a while. I want to be able to give it 100% of my focus and attention so that the information I share is the best it can be. I should be getting some new videos out very soon, I can’t wait to start working on the 99’s again! I love making the videos, thank you for your very kind words!

Look forward to those! I breathe a sigh of relief when I watch, and can relax, knowing that indeed the information you provide is not something I must double check. I've unfortunately taken some advice from other channels that has proven detrimental to more than one machine... Thanks again for passing on your knowledge so expertly!!
Parabéns pelo belo trabalho❗👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Jen - it's so good when things go wrong (broken screw) to see how calmly you just carry on. I'd be almost in tears and you're don't even skip a beat!! I hope you manage to get the remainder of the screw out and, if you do, I hope you film it because I'd love there to be more videos showing how to handle this kind of situation on a sewing machine. Everything I see for 'screw extractors' and the like are for use on cars and tractors and - you know - much bigger machinery - nothing for anything small like we have to deal with on sewing machines.
Hi Megan! I was surprised when it broke, that is for sure. But sometimes we just have to carry on! I did get the remainder of the screw out but not on camera. I tried to film it but the tiny reverse threaded bit I was using snapped in half. I am going to have to retap the hole now, probably one size up and use a different screw there. Still working all that out. It’s an adventure! Hope you are well!
Welcome to the broken screw club! I recently had a set screw shatter... Fun times...
You know you can’t avoid it….and you never know when it will happen. Keep calm and carry on? What choice to we have? Hopefully they are few and far between. :)
Looking forward to seeing how to clean those bobbin case screws! Thanks for another great video.
You are welcome! Thank you for watching!
I love those little machine 😊
Thanks. I find it so interesting. I actually have a 99- in pieces but it is from 1956. If you can't find that little screw that broke, LMK.
Thank you! I am going to have to retap that hole, probably one size larger than the original. So I will be replacing it with a little bigger screw. What a surprise when the head just broke off!
I am loving this series! Do you think you will be removing the main vertical shaft? (I think that is what it is called). I am currently working on a 1912 99k and the vertical shaft is rusted, and I suspect the upper horizontal shaft is too. I would love to get that out and clean it up, but I am having trouble finding any tutorials. Most mentions of it seem to say it’s not worth the trouble. Also, I used your series to fully restore a 301a, fantastic videos!
Hi! I can pretty much say with certainty that I won't be removing it. I don't think either of the machines I am using for the series really requires that so if I make a video on how to do that it will be with a machine that needs it. That being said, have you checked out Bob Fowler's channel? He may have some content on that and even if it is the model 66 it may be relevant. I am so glad you enjoyed the 301 series! I had so much fun with that one. Thanks for commenting!
@@SewingMachineRehab makes perfect sense, thank you!
Será que você poderia por tradução em português brasileiro.❤
Hi! I am not sure how to do that, I will look into it though!
Ola Marlene, eu nao acho que seja possivel por trazudir automaticamante, a criadora precisaria falar Portugues. Eu falo ingles e um pouco Portugues, e eu posso dizer, Só o video mostrar o processo. A narracao em ingles nao é necessário. Você consegue!
How tokeep the screw that keeps the feed dog up in p,ace from rotating loose. I sew fine about 6 inches and the screw comes loose, reach under, hand tighten, then sew again. Should be a way to keep-it tight? Makes perfect stiches.
I would check to make sure the threads in the hole and the threads on the screw are very clean. It should tighten down and not come loose. Email me if you are still having problems…
@@SewingMachineRehab what is your email? I can send you a video of about 5 seconds of it sewing for you to see what it is doing. I have not taken that screw out. I just tried to tighten it as it is. I am not a sewing machine dr. I am learning my way with a small fleet of sewing machines we use for missions.
@@evelynlemons4472 I don't think I ever gave you my email! it is jen@sewingmachinerehab.com sorry about that!
