Should We Pull or Push In Golf Swing? One will give you longer and straighter golf shots...

  • We need to decide if we should pull or push in our down swing. What you choose do will help or destroy your desireable swing path.
    Let me help you get an effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. I call it the circle of speed. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook. How to swing a golf club need to be adjusted to your skill level and experience.
    Long and straight is the goal for everyone but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill. We focus too much on rotation but no good golf shot will be executed just by rotating.
    I’m naturally right handed but all my tips works for both left handed and right handed golfers.
    We also need to understand that many myths in golf are misleading. Everything that you find on the internet isn’t true. Ben Hogan, Sam Snead are two of legends that are often misunderstood.
    We shall not keep our head still, only start with the hips, look only at the ball or keep the left or right arm straight.
    If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can always get better.
    Find what inspires you. Golf basics are the same for everyone. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV.
    Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway, Pete Cowen and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
    Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
    Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg can show you the future of golf.
    The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.

    Today is a very special day for me.
    I extinguish all my golf videos ! Hundreds !
    And tomorrow i will bring all my golf books, except the little red book, as a donation to our library .
    Reason ? I tried it and started to reeducate my swing thought in the downswing.
    Since ten days, i hit every day 300 balls with one thought in the down swing:
    Away and down ! Detour !
    After 4 days it worked so unbelievable good i could not believe it. Next day again : Can not work again. But it did work again. And again and again.
    Old fashioned ? My golf balls are not very intelligent They do not care if modern or not.
    They just want to be hit from the inside.
    Mr. Edblad, you did the best service for the game of golf and the players.
    Just a man in a simple t-shirt, with a golf club, on a range somewhere in Sweden brings the best Information in golf you can get, when you hit over the top.
    It is the opposite of 95 % of the golf content on youtube is about.
    BETTER PUSH THAN PULL ! WE MUST UNDERSTAND !
    Thank you, Mr. Edblad !

    Marcus I've been going through all of your videos and yesterday hit on this one, and it was transformational! This move added to your other concepts of the circle of speed and others, this made them come together…Wow! Explosive hits off the club and a sound I've never heard before at impact, unbelievable. I was laughing out loud at how easy the swing felt , as well. You are truly a golfing genius. I'm now spreading the word to all my golfing 🏌️ buddies to go and check out your channel out if they want to improve. Thanks ever so much for sharing your golfing wisdom with us. I always argued that I could get more centrifugal force if my arms were close and bent and then unleash them during the downswing. I took his advice unfortunately and I felt like a rather stiff robot for the next 20 years!!! ☹️

I was listening to my ball, but I couldn't understand everything it was saying, but I'm pretty certain it was laughing at me 🤣 After watching your video I realized I was trying to pull the club from inside out instead of pushing it. Pulling may feel like a strong move but really all you get out of it is your golf ball and playing partners laughing at the weak and scattered shots. I'm really looking forward to hitting the range later and push instead of pull on my downswing.

    I happened to be working on this feel the last few days and I feel the word you used 'circular' can really help conceptually. Initially, I found difficulty in placing my awareness somewhere useful in order for me to feel this movement correctly. Conversely, when I imagined the circle the clubhead should/will inevitably make, it doesn't make sense to take a expedient detour by pulling and instead the movement you speak of in this video comes pretty easily I found. I know everyone differs in feels but I feel this thought of the circle that you mentioned may be a helpful focus for people who are having difficulty with this. Hi Mark. I know a lot of golfers that needed to learn to use the stupid hand. You can start brushing your teeth with the "wrong" hand or just start doing casual normal things with that hand. The more you do the more you will be able to do. I started playing racket sports with my stupid hand to make it smarter and I also hit golf balls single handed with both hands. You probably have all the strength you need but you are not able to use it.

    Thank you for sharing in such detail. Transition is such an important part of the swing, and I just wonder: I have tried to practice shifting pressure from my trail foot to my lead foot by pressing forward with my trail hip and pelvis to my left thigh before even reaching the top of the backswing, much the way Padraig Harrington explains it. With your method I suppose you have max pressure under your trail foot at the top, when you push (or throw?) the club away from you (to resist the force of the push), and the pressure will then shift by the momentum of what your arms and club are doing after that? Thanks again!

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  Рік тому

      You are correct. I let my swing and the movement of my arms move pressure and weight. The shot we wanna hit will shift your weight. A forced weight shift will destroy the natural motion that we need.

So, at the beginning of your downswing, you are pushing your left hand straight out in the opposite direction of the target not down, but straight out and that action I guess the momentum of the club is carrying the club down and around towards the ball?

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  Рік тому +1

      That sounds correct. It's also greatly effected by the body turning back to the ball. It's a circle, at the top it needs to move in the opposite direction of what happens at the ball.

      Hi Andreas. It can happen to me to if I get lazy in extending the arm going towards the ball. Try to get an earlier extension in your trail elbow and your arm will move. It's only when there is a lack of push that it can get stuck.

    Is it correct that I would start the downswing with a wedge and a driver the same with only the release being earlier with the driver?

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  Рік тому

      Yes, the release needs to be earlier with the driver, we need to reach the lowest point before impact. With a wedge, after impact.

      If I hit it good the face is half as open as the inside out path. If the path is 10 degrees in to out the face should be 5 degrees open to produce a draw to the target.

    Marcus what is the difference between this move and casting? Or is it the same thing therefore casting is a good thing?

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  Рік тому

      It is almost the same move but in a different direction. I think that bad casting includes early wrist action but pushing is more arm move.

    • @frankdesantis8078
      @frankdesantis8078 5 місяців тому

      Motty, I think my casting and horrible results occurred because I had little or no rotation. Marcus’s “casting” or pushing is combined with proper rotation resulting in higher club head speed plus better contact. Casting is agreeably wrong with no rotation, but is called “pushing” with synced rotation and with much better results. Thank you Marcus for this insight.
