Isn’t this a great hobby? Always something to do! Let’s get that bridge taken care of asap, winter will be back before you know it and you’ll want those spreaders operational! Layout looks great!👍😊
Great work, every aspect is A-1! I admire your train room, from the overhead lighting, track layout design, personal photography as your backdrop, and hand-made trees. All your work is very inspiring. I dismantled my layout, however, summer of 2022, I plan on rebuilding it. Once again Great work!
Wow -14 and Blizzards, that's crazy!! It's finally in the 70s here in Indiana but with some rain!! At least you caught the problem now with the Bridge width before you built more farther up the line, it's still coming along nicely and those spreaders came out awesome!! Thanks for the update Ben!!
Thanks for the update Ben, fantastic as always. A timely reminder to use the NMRA standards gauge as I'm building the interior of my tunnel at present.
WOW!! Very impressive and thank you for turning me on to the Highball Graphics decal company. I model Alaska RR and finding appropriate decals for them is tough. Thank you and happy modeling!
Excellent video. Your descriptions are wonderfully welcomed. Your Jordan spreader looks very good realistic to a T. It's like I goofed & didn't realize it until the project was finished. I remember when you were building up that model bridge on another earlier video. Out of scale? Until the the trains pass through it? Wow that's a costly mistake & the bridge looks so good i can't even tell on video. But you the modeler knew best cause you run the trains in your layout. When I build a future layout i will get that NMRA guage gadget. As for the background the pictures are no doubt very 💯% outstanding you surprised me as your viewer & your photography skills very great. Your table & product display has me inspired to work on my secondhand table I found outdoors near my residents to restorate it to look new. The green cutting graphic makes a major difference. This episode has made my day. Thanks for this & many videos of your channel.
Love the update and Spreaders. We haven't had one working up here on the Havelock Sub in years. Saw a pair trailing on a freight on a nearby CP sub recently though.
Thanks! They still maintain a handful of them out here in the west. Last few years, a full pair (2x plows/2x spreaders) with power on them is kept at Lake Louise throughout the winter season. One from that set made an appearance on the Red Deer/Leduc subs a couple years ago ditching in the summer time as well.
Hi Gene, normally I take a piece of MDF with a sharp edge and run it along the top. I'm going to try a razor blade this time because sometimes I noticed removing it with wood it would almost "tear" the paint and pull too much.
Dude your that is awesome you trees are fantastic and those snowplows if you just wanna send 1 to me hey I'll be happy to put it on the lamp It's man you did a great job on those
The backdrop vistas you chose are amazing. If your bridge is accurate to the prototype then is the spreader not accurate to the prototype? I think you mentioned that the spreader was 3D printed. Did you contact the manufacturer regarding that?
Yeah weird I ran trains over it for a couple years before even noticing. It's on the to-do list, I will remove the sides and add 1.5mm styrene spacers then reinstall.
I don't know if you have harbor freight up there, but. I actually bought a small pancake compressor from them, for around $30 that has the pressure adjustment and moisture filter. It does pretty great and it's really small. It sure beat paying $300 for a branded airbrush compressor.
At the other end of the layout I used curved drywall. Unfortunately in this corner, the radius was too tight even for that. Strategically placed trees filling in the deeper part of the triangle should hide it pretty good I think, we'll see.

You've got that right, never a lack of tasks or things that need fixin. Thank you very much.
That’s one of the best transitions to a road on a backdrop I’ve ever seen. Looks great!
This is going to be a gorgeous layout when complete! I've never been big on resin, but those spreaders look great!
Thanks! The UV stuff that's neon green is extremely brittle, need to be really careful with it. The grey stuff is more forgiving.
@@BArailsystem Thanks!

Doing, undoing, and re-doing is still work. Good job!
100%, thanks!

Thanks David. Yep, that simple step could have avoided me some unnecessary rework.
Spreaders look good Ben. Nice to see the tree count coming up steadily. Have to get out and make some myself now that the sun is shining!
Thanks Grant!
Love the Jordan Spreader and your layout is really great . Keep up the good work and will continue watching.

We have all made mistakes like that...I am currently widening a bridge where I made the same mistake! Greta update as usual. Mark
Thanks Mark, all part of the process : )
The spreaders looks awesome man and the layout looks amazing.

Thanks!
Happy Easter
To you as well!
It is indeed awesome!
Thanks!
wicked stuff. bit of a shame though about the bridge, it looks so nice.
Thanks, and yeah, it is a shame.
Top 👍👍👍
How do you clean your rail heads after painting? Great videos and PLEASE keep them coming. Thanks

Haha, I don't think you'd want to send an assembled one in the mail. The UV resin is very brittle.
The backdrop vistas you chose are amazing. If your bridge is accurate to the prototype then is the spreader not accurate to the prototype? I think you mentioned that the spreader was 3D printed. Did you contact the manufacturer regarding that?
Thanks! Yes the spreader may be a little on the wide side, I don't have the drawings though so I can't confirm 100%.
that sucks about the bridge, are you going to build a new one to replace it or just not run the spreaders threw there?
nice update.
Yeah weird I ran trains over it for a couple years before even noticing. It's on the to-do list, I will remove the sides and add 1.5mm styrene spacers then reinstall.

That new backdrop is awesome. How are you going to hide that corner? Did you consider putting it on a curve to help disguise it?
At the other end of the layout I used curved drywall. Unfortunately in this corner, the radius was too tight even for that. Strategically placed trees filling in the deeper part of the triangle should hide it pretty good I think, we'll see.
😊
I think your videos are great, a great inspiration. how big is your room? can you show us your track plan? greetings from Switzerland
Thank you! The basement is roughly 30'x40', if you go back in my update videos there is track plans closer to the beginning.
@@BArailsystem amazing, thank you
Just wondering ... Are you working a job along with getting this massive project finished?
Yes, among other things : )
I have a question did you bye that Jordan spreader or make it your self
These were 3d printed kits
OK thanks
Happy star wars day!
May the force be with you!
