Jeff, you are NOT my fifth favorite blogger. You are atleast my fourth favorite and quite possibly third favorite! Lol. Keep up the great work. I enjoy and value your perspective and insights. You are the first place I go when I need guardians information.
I’m ready to be done with Arias. He streaky and lacks hustle. Vogt seems to be making strategic decisions to be a winning team and Arias doesn’t fit that vision to me. There’s a brotherhood vibe on the team and Arias is rarely a visible part of that bond. He can go be great for another team but I don’t think he has chemistry with Cleveland.
@kaeleenwescoat-oneill3755 Really? Every time they cut to the bench he is one of their biggest cheerleaders. Remember when he hugged Rocchio after his homerun?
@@LockedonGuardians 🫣last time I openly complained about Arias he turned around and had a great game lol. Wouldn’t be the first time I was wrong about something.
I think it is weird to describe the Arias/Rocchio situation as a mess. Rocchio has an 88 wRC+ but it has been trending up. That is not horrible. (Gimenez also has an 88 wRC+). So, the baseline of this "mess" is a not-horrible starting shortstop. Moreover, Arias is a candidate to get sent down, because they found decent role players. So, it isn't that Arias is struggling so bad that an organizational depth player might be better, we have players that we like that may squeeze Arias off the roster. Compare this situation to our past 1B and RF situations, our present situation is so much better. When Brennan comes back, you send Noel down. We have the trade deadline looming. We should see if we can't see high on someone like Schneeman. Bringing in a legit bat or legit arm will cost significant players, creating opportunities for the remaining young players to fill.
I'd be curious to hear you guys talk more about Arias because it seems everyone else really hates him. Do you think he is still on the team to preserve his options to retain his trade value? Do you think his streakieness is as bad as other younger guys? Is it worth having any optimism about him contributing to the major league team?
I still think there is hope last year in a large amount of data he hit righties very well, this year he has had inconsistent playing time making it hard
Oh his ERA is actually worse than tristan. But we have been winning his games. Somehow I have been watching but didnt realize this. That;s why i needed an Allen segment!
Get rid of Brennan? Prior to the injury setback, he was starting to show signs of putting things together. He hit the walk-off HR against MIN on 5/19. Including, and following, that date he had a slash-line of .299/.365/.481 and posted a wRC+ of 143 (wRC+ for the year has climbed above average, at 106). Now would be a pretty weird time to cut-bait.
frankly, I'd hope our entire team gets snubbed from the all-star game. Or even better, they get elected and get their bonus and all of them decline to show. just one item on the ss situation: Guardians are #1 in FanGraphs Double Play Runs Above Average, and by a comfortable margin. Not saying that makes everything okay, but it is something to consider there.
Is Fridays abysmal performance by Gabe Arias the final nail in his coffin? When Brennan comes off the IL, Arias has to be the odd man out. I'm at least loudly rooting for it.
It feels like the front office is making the coaching staff play Arias. And PLEASE stop saying he is the better defensive SS. He has NO RANGE. and he is aloof in the field.
@dennisquigney3809 Arias not only has range, but he is a gold glove and annual all-star type shortstop! He is the only short that has shown (on numerous occasions) the ability to go deep in the hole and fire a laser to the 1st baseman for the out. As opposed to Rocchio that at his best 3 hops the ball to 1st. Arias is a rhythm hitter. When he plays a few days in a row he goes 3-4 with three RBI.
@dbcollings5739 I thought I smoked a lot of weed. Please don't confuse having a good arm with being a good defensive player. At best Arias is a poor man's Jhonny Peralta with a better arm.
@@dbcollings5739Rocchio is the best shortstop in the AL according to defensive runs saved. He makes all the routine plays and has had several Vizquel moments as well. He's also hitting like .275 with 3 homers in the last month. Arias has shown several lapses in concentration in the field and has absolutely choked in leverage hitting situations. Yes, he has all the tools to be a world class shortstop and hitter, but dude puts forth less effort and mental energy than the roadkill in front of my house. He's had 3 years, including the starting job for the second half of last year, and proven he ain't it.
@dennisquigney3809 Anyone quoting defensive metrics fir Rocchio is just lazy. What defensive metric measure him running into five different teammates including the Platinum Glove winner twice!
Arias has to go. He provided us nothing better than we already have. Forget upside. We haven’t seen it. His at bats you can tell by looking at him it is an out 80% of the time. He has no plan
I will continue my mantra..... Let the kids play!!!! let me cook for a minute.... As, I stated last week, no flowers for me, it could have gone the other way, but what if some of the young guys hit? Because Freeman, Gabi, Bo and Rocc, played alongside these guys in the Minors.. You can see them (not Gabi) slowing down and not chasing (check out Bo's at-bat after being down 2-0, normally Bo would have chased) As they say "hitting is contagious" and seeing guys you played with before hit, has got to be a different boost then bringing in a Vet who hits. I will not worried about Gavin, until after I see his 3rd start. Logan was right to have been pulled, he was dancing with fire all day and has done nothing to prove he deserves to keep playing with it, I will chalk it up to a great start that with minor tweaks can be the boost Logan needs to turn it around I don't care about the All-Star game, respect for my Team will come, like it came for the Royals, raising the World Series Trophy, any respect before that the National Media can keep it. The only major trade for a bat, I would go for would be to bring back Lindor at SS, because his contract, which I would have the Mets eat most of would line up with Jose's and that is what I built my belief in this team and their actions on. I was so wrong about Hedges, I was one of the main ones wanting him gone, until he was gone and then I understood why Hedges never should have been gone. I am so sorry Austin Hedges, I forgot that Baseball was a Team game and forgot how important the guy who sacrifices himself for the love of the game and does things the right way is..... Because of my error, I now get sad and contemplative over the late 80's early 90's Cinderella - Rock Hair Band "Don't Know What You Got Until it's Gone" song
Woah, a dude on the internet adjusting his opinion based on facts? That doesn't happen anymore! Good points all around though, this team is a blast and Hedgie holds value way beyond his production
I might look back and say I was the prisoner of the moment, but I see Angel Martinez as the top prospect in the organization right now.
I cant get there right now
It’s a darn good time to be a Guardians fan
it really is
That opener! 🤣🔥
was fun

thank you for the kind words
Great shows guy. I really liked the thoughts throughout the show. Amazing how the starting rotation is and they are in 1st.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the shoutout fellas! Great show as always! Hell of a lot better than that garbage game 1 in Detroit smh.
Any time!
Amazing ron burgundy moment
thank you
Great opening Justin.

I am not trading the guys who are excelling right now because if you trade Schneeman its to get a guy who is producing like him anyways

I need some explanation on Logan Allen being Demoted. Hasn't he been good lately? Why did we do that?
He hasn't been good really. They are getting Spencer Howard a chance right before the asb. Logan should be back in 3 weeks.
A starter needs to go at least 6 innings a start. Didn't even go 5 innings and threw 93 pitches. Allen is a nipper too.
Oh his ERA is actually worse than tristan. But we have been winning his games. Somehow I have been watching but didnt realize this. That;s why i needed an Allen segment!
He hasnt been able to go deep enough so they are trying to find ways for length
With all the things Vogt and Anronetti git right, it is difficult for me to understand how they got Ariascso wrong. #FreeArias
Freeman has a habit of hitting the ball to the third baseman
I just think both are kind of a mess at short
❤️
thank you for watching
Any info on why Gavin Williams threw so few curveballs in his first start. Is it elbow related?
Williams didn't throw a silver either. Not one.
Opps slider.
Slider has been his best pitch and he hasnt been throwing it at all
WHY on earth is Clase not being mentioned in the Cy Young conversation????????????????
That's a good point he should get some love
What do you do when Brennan comes back? You get rid of Brennan. Freeman and Brennan have had their chances, now we have better options

agreed
I dont think its quite time for either though Freeman should not be the starter right now with the way Schneeman has played
If Rocchio stays at SS how is Martinez going to get at-bats?
Martinez isnt a great natural SS makes more sense for him to play all over
