Watched first 2 episodes and so far so good. Succession for family disfunction.
For disfunctional families you can't beat Bloodline on Netflix... The most underated original show out there IMO. Only if you like slow burners though
I've seen it, much prefer bad sister's though!
I've now finished the whole series... I really liked it... loved the relationship between the sisters. J.P. was great as a despicable character who's also extremely annoying. I actually also liked the two insurance brothers. Very funny series... very dark in terms of handling murder and death -- darkly funny.
I'm on episode 6, it's one of the best series I've seen in quite a while (and yes I've seen all of the current big ones Succession, Ted Lasso, Severance etc)
I loved this series and procrastinated watching it until I had a couple days to binge it… The first show that I thought of when you asked about another series showcasing a dysfunctional family, my thoughts immediately went to HBO’s Six Feet Under, which is now streaming on Netflix, but I was immediately drawn in by the “commercials,” and in-your-face pilot… unlike the slower burn of Bad Sisters, but a dark comedy with characters you can empathize with, not to mention a well-casted ensemble.
Holy shit! I just finished episode 5, this thing goes super duper dark! I wish they could release the whole series in one go!

John Paul is a narcissist and he's putting Grace and everybody around him through narcissistic abuse. I know Grace can appear frustrating, but that's what narcissists do to their victims, they sap their entire life force and self worth, and get them reliant on their abuser for everything. Obviously that doesn't warrant murder, but just saying -- Grace is being horribly abused, and that's why she acts how she does.

Gilmore Girls had me curious. It was 'different' - very Dra-medy, with similar vibe of 'silent female' syndrome LOL! But the 'dysfunction family part, was focal, and that got tiresome for me! Well acted - but, quickly 'disliked' the 'rigid' one-dimensional personalities of the lead's parents! Also, more 'casual, predictable characters began to emerge! Loved how you think the characters here, are "static!" Nice observations:)
Can't go past Seinfeld for family (and friend) dysfunction lol! Also Mom - you must try it Chris! ;)

It's just a tradition that happens in Ireland. A cold dive into the Irish sea (or worse the Atlantic) will shake off those cobwebs
We do.. Christmas day swims are very popular especially for raising money for charities... also, it's Ireland.. if we couldnt handle swimming in cold weather we would only get about 3 days in the year to swim!
I liked this show. I mean I liked the idea of it. But its a little too "western" for me. I mean it has lot of family issues and things like relationship and family dynamics so it does not have the universal appeal like a fantasy or crime series. So you cannot watch it continuously, speaking from a personal point of view. Western family issues aren't really very exciting for me. But I liked the set up. And the actors are great. Though I have to say that the male actors outdid the female ones. I think there is some lack of chemistry between the 5 lead female actors. They seem like good friends but not blood sisters, but still its a good cast. They need to put elements that really shows their bond. maybe it comes in latter episodes. If its bad sisters, they need to feel like sisters.
The male actors especially the desperate investigator and his good hearted brother, the prick husband are great. But even the foolish husband and the charming boyfriend did great in their limited times.
A good series I would say. I give this a 7.5. Its fresh and certainly different from fantasy, and crime based series we have, The second episode was far better than the first. Definitely recommend this. Sadly not for me as its too Western. But definitely all the best to cast and crew for making a solid attempt. I hope they find enough plots to keep the drama and mystery going.
Why she doesn't just divorce him
because the guy is an abuser and a mere divorce will not solve the problem. Just ask any domestic abuse victim.
