In prior generations the GLC was a little more polished, but the GLA was pretty good utility with none of the coupe styling compromises. I agree it's more like a car than a truck. The market needed a tall hatchback like a Tercel wagon from the late 1980s.
A friend of mine recently ordered a GLA 350 and I think it'll be interesting to see how it stacks up next to the top-trim Mazda CX-30 Turbo I bought recently. The vehicles are the same size, and he paid nearly twice what I did.
I will always maintain the idea that you're much better off buying a loaded "lower end" model (Mazda, Kia, Toyota) than an entry level luxury car. You just look so stupid rolling around in your base model Merc when you could have had a tasty CX-5 for less
When you take it in to the Mercedes shop for maintenance and repair, the bills will be ridiculus. Give me the CS-5 anyday. The CX-5 is not so bland and boring.
I’m sorry but this just seems so completely “Meh” unless you’re one of those that just *has* to have that three pointed star out in public. I’ll take that Mazda (3 or CX) with the new 2.5 turbo.
I own two German autos and have come to the conclusion that, although nice when new, they are just not worth it anymore. My family is from the Alsace-Lorraine region and you’d think I’d have some blind allegiance to German brands, but even people of this region dislike all but Volkswagen there. It’s like American disdain for their poorly-built domestic brands. These cars are cheaper to fix in Germany and are absolutely impractical to own everywhere else. They are money pits beyond 100k miles of usage. South Korean autos are the best value for the money. Genesis beats this without a doubt and with a 10 year/100k mile powertrain warranty, you’d be foolish to buy this. I think the silly status symbol brand mentality has become more of a sign of stupidity or insecurity.
You are a South Korean cheerleader parading around about a warranty that you *will* be putting to good use because those Kias and Hyundais are cheaply built and unreliable. Many are still burning down to the ground amongst many other unreliabilities, the company undergoing a class action lawsuit. Genesis was just on consumers report for least reliable brands, recently. Lol. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree. You are absolutely delusional.

Agree with Todd, it’s a cheap feeling Mercedes, so why bother. Get the A45 hatch or CUV, it’s going to be way more engaging and price justified.

I agree with you, in fact I recently bought a CX-30. I'm investing the price difference.
You like the doors AND the vents? Time to trade in my Stinger, I guess.

Literally paid $1393 yesterday for service A + new brakes/trans flush 😩
How can the GLA45 be a hot hatch when its based on a CUV platform? Thats what I dont understand
its based on the A class, which is a hatchback.
Crossovers are all built on car platforms.
No mention of the need for premium fuel

The mercedes logo on the grill is far too big

^^^ genesis as a brand scored 3 brands below Mercedes in terms of reliability so…
Stick to reviewing Tonka Toys.
Over priced.
