- After over a month of the Israel-Hamas war, journalists have had little, if any, access to the Gaza Strip. As the Israeli ground offensive deepens, army troops are taking reporters on tours of the besieged enclave. Our correspondent Claire Duhamel spent 3 hours in northern Gaza. Here is her report.

Because they learned English. Also you can tell English isn't their first language if you listen close enough. The lieutenant has to be articulate in English because he is in charge of 100 men and need to communicate clearly with his administration. Kind of like pilots, they have to know English.

They have difficulty with the "th" diphthong (usually pronouncing it with a z sound) and the r in Hebrew is more glottal (like French). The guy being interviewed lying against the bank was American - possibly Canadian but more than likely American.

People of gaza got a golden opportunity to move out from hell of hamas..its good for their family's future. if you see historical demography data of ottomons and british era, palestine was divided into modern day israel, gaza and jordan ..and almost equal number of jews and arabs lived there...but when first anouncement of Israel happened , arab rulers srarted settling a big arab muslim population from neighbouring muslim countries to today area of israel and gaza in between 1917~1950..it was an attempt to create demography change so land of Israel can't be claimed.

Hamas has not held any elections since 2006. No elections for over SEVENTEEN YEARS.
According to the latest Washington Institute polling, conducted in July 2023:
Hamas’s decision to break the ceasefire was not a popular move. While the majority of Gazans (65%) did think it likely that there would be “a large military conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza” this year,
62% supported Hamas maintaining a ceasefire with Israel,
50% agreed with the following proposal: “Hamas should stop calling for Israel’s destruction, and instead accept a permanent two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.” Moreover, across the region, Hamas has lost popularity over time among many Arab publics. This decline in popularity may have been one of the motivating factors behind the group’s decision to attack.
73% believed the Hamas government to be corrupt. Yet, Gazans saw little hope for electoral change. With no election since 2006, a majority of Gazans alive today were not old enough to have voted for Hamas.

700 000 ppl weren't expelled in 1947, it was more like 420 000 and most left because their Arab leaders told them to do so. Yes, some were displaced cos they needed to get out the way, others were displaced cos they were participating in massacres but most left willingly.

Israel in Gaza would be better off using a large port for merchant ships so that it is safe. Make your own port and own route so that piracy doesn't happen like now. Israeli ships are being hijacked. If you make a port, it's certainly safe.

There is no God but God, and maybe Allah (God) will forgive my sins, the sins all of us humans commit if it guides even one person to the right path, whether a Christian, or Jew, or any other religion and may you be blessed and read the Quran in full, with contemplation and understanding, I wish you peace, we are all the children of Adam and must remain peaceful and help one another according to Islam. I wish you peace, and the mercy of the only one true God, the holy Quran is available for the world to read.
