  • Last week, 100 cats and kittens discovered in an unsafe, unsanitary apartment began arriving at the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County. Now, we have our first look inside the heartbreaking conditions these cats were subjected to.
The two-bedroom apartment was covered in feces, garbage, and grime-and the air was so polluted that the investigating officer had to wear a respirator for protection. Tragically, a one-day-old hypothermic kitten was found alone in a toilet and is now warming in an incubator fighting for its life.
Animal Control has already rescued more than 80 cats from the property, with dozens more expected to arrive in the coming days. Our capacity and resources are stretched to the limit and we desperately need your help to give these cats and thousands more just like them the love and care they deserve.
If you've already donated to support these traumatized cats-thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If not, please consider giving $50, $25, or even $10 to make a meaningful impact today. Together, we can continue to be a lifeline for Pierce County's neglected, injured, and lost pets. Donate now: thehumanesociety.org/100-cats

I've donated numerous times, and will donate again. My best friend, a gray tabby named Boots, came from there. I and my family have gotten quite a few cats from there over the years. Keep up the good work, and when I retire I want to work there as a volunteer!
