In this video I am giving some advice for 15+ WRX owners with the new FA20 Platform. Modding these cars and getting power from them is pretty cheap under 400whp and pretty simple as well.

This has to be the best explanation on the do's and don'ts of WRX mods on the internet hands down!! 💪👍👍
Thanks for the tips man. Not many people will sit and talk about this shit.
Good video. I know I didn't need the intake, but as one of my life goals of owning a turbo AWD car I need to hear that spool!!! The SF intake and accessport have worked great. Running R400 exhaust and love it.
Incredible video! I am loving your channel. I agree with the catch cans 100%. I am excited to see the video because I hope to buy the Radium kit as well.
Heres the link to the catch can video. I actually made this video before I installed them but and just now uploading this video lol ua-cam.com/video/P5kWcVzYCNU/v-deo.html
Great video! I’ve got a 2016 and I was waiting for the ethanol part. Really wakes the car up. I’m on e60, and I have an Innovate ethanol content gauge. Mine made 339whp. I’ve owned the car since new and am sitting at 173k miles. I drive a ton and I recommend the platform to anyone looking for a fun daily. I usually get bored quick with cars as I’ve had 23...but this one has apparently ticked all the boxes for me.
5w40 on the FA20DIT has been proven to be more harmful. A good quality 5w30 is all you need. It’s worked well for me for 173k
Funny you say that, I've actually had 22 cars and I agree as much as I loved some of them I got tired of them fairly quickly and love this car. And ill have to look into that, do you have a link or anything to any data for that? I'm curious to see the affects of 5-40 over 5-30 because I've been recommended 5-40 by a lot of people and had no issues with it. But ran 5-30 on my last wrx its entire life with me with no problems either.
173k that’s amazing. I just got my 18 with 50k.
I don’t have any “hard” data, just what I’ve seen in a couple of the Subaru groups. I think the 5w40 idea was rooted in people who used it in EJ’s, but a number of guys in the groups that have used the 5w40 in the FA didn’t have the same results. Obviously there are a number of variables at play. I’ve just stuck with 5w30 just to play it safe...not to mention it’s what the engineers concluded was best for the application...but again there’s obviously a number of variables (real word vs controlled environment, mods vs no mods, etc.). If someone has some hard data, that would be extremely interesting to see.
@@davo5400 I’m up to just shy of 175k now 😬 hard to believe she had 25 miles when I bought her off the showroom floor! Love the car though.
I just seen this video and clicked because my tuner is absolutely recommending 5W-40 which I thought was odd but I have seen multiple reliable sources recommend 5W-40 over the 5W-30
You're so correct about the air filter, I brought the Grimspeed Dry con filter and it wasn't seated in correctly and threw off my MAF sensor.
After owning my car Wrx for 3 years. Its time to go fbo e60. I just need to install all the parts and get a etune by Ron. Should be done by next month.
You won't regret it!
Running Phatbotti E30 tune on my 2018 wrx stock other than IAG AOS and EGR unplug and car runs great! Huge difference over stock!!! Can’t wait to grab a flex fuel kit and go full tgv delete
Why the other guys use motul oil 5w30? I guess depends on umber right forget the brand of oil??? I’m totally stock as in nothing just watch and gathering facts before I’m jump in.. and highly appreciated your video as quality/transparent/ caring video..
TMI good stuff thanks brotha.
Come to hersheys car meetup some day, would be cool to see the car and chat about what you know about it. I have 19 wrx limited that's stockish and some other subbie people show up.
I recently got a 21 wrx and put a r400 on it w the stock jpipe, is it bad to be running it w only a cat back?
You're perfectly fine running a stock car with a catback. The catback won't hurt or alter anything!
Just saw this video I ordered the mishimoto intake and I'm running stage one from my accessport do I need to run stage 0 with the intake on?
The Cobb OTS tunes are only designed for the Cobb Intake. I wouldn't recommend running the OTS map with the mishimoto intake or any other brand intake. The mishimoto intake is safe to run on the factory tune, or with a etune or protune from a tuner. However I dont think you will blow the car up running the mishimoto intake with the Cobb tune, it just may not run optimally and you may see more knock and that sort of thing.
@@StreetInspired1 thank you buddy for you input I just did my oil change with the rotella and I think my car loves it
Will an ebcs stop boost creep when having a catless downpipe?
Unfortunately no. The boost control solenoid will control boost under normal conditions but overboosting basically bypasses the controller and goes crazy.
Hey man. So I running the stage 1+ 91 with big sf. I’m not sure why I’m having dam drop. It sometime drops down to .300
Thats honestly normal with Cobb OTS maps. My buddys wrx saw really significant damn drops and feedback knock almost every time he drove the car and he ended up buying an OTS map from a protuner and hasn't had any issues since.
Great video!
Seems a lot of tuners wont tune for the EGR TGV deletes now. Ive been told by tuners to leave them now.
Yeah that just happened over the last 6 months. No one will touch them now unless they already tuned the car before with them on.
@@StreetInspired1 Such a bummer. Oh well, wont stop me from having fun! haha.
Did you absolutely need to upgrade your clutch making this power?
Im on the stock clutch still. But my last wrx had 65k miles on it and at this power level it started slipping after a few launches at the track.
Where's the dsm videos 😥
Sadly I sold the GSX a few months ago. I have a few friends with some really nice DSMs that I want to feature on the channel soon and I plan on buying another one in a year or two. I'm most likely relocating soon and I wouldn't have been able to take the gsx along with me
I didnt get a wrx because of you. We just gotta simular cars!
Rotella t6 in fa20 is actually more harmful. It’s not rated for lspi. It also isn’t as clean as those oils rated for DIT engines.
Motul x clean efe is the go to oil that meets proper certs.
Also running a heavier weight cause oil to heat up more. Run the proper weight there’s no further protection in running improper weight. Only more resistance and more heat
I can't comment pictures on here but I have several used oil analysis charts showing great numbers running only rotella t6 5-40 on a fa20 for 48k miles at 5-7k change intervals. XClean is a damn good oil but I dont think Rotella Is unsafe in any way. I'm always open to trying new oils and may experiment and have some oil reports done. But my reason for the slightly higher weight is because running a 40 weight it will stay within spec through the entire oil interval. Running 30 weight by the end of the interval its out of spec and thinned out from usage and fuel washing into the oil. But thank you for the comment I will try to do some more research and see if I can find anything. If I get any groundbreaking info I'll make sure to make an update.
@@StreetInspired1 gotcha yeah. I use t6 in my 350Z fpr that reason. I just haven’t in the wrx because it’s brand new and DIT I didn’t want any issue with lspi
Been running t6 since I bought my 2018 brand new. Nothing wrong at all. Been recommended by everyone even the best tuner Ron.
I run T6 in my wrx and have done multiple track events on the car, no issues. the oil does absolutely thin out, and this is why people run a 40 weight.
With mileage on oil it doesn't thins out, becomes thicker. Only time it thins if you have high fuel dilution problems due to direct injection. Diesel engine oil doesn't work well in this case. Diesel engine oil formulated for diesel engine and it has different additives to combat different byproducts and diesel fuel dilution. Gas engine oil is formulated to work with gas engines and it has different additives because you have gasoline byproducts and different fuel dilution due to direct injection. People often says, I use Rotella in my Subaru have zero problems, how many Subarus have reached 100k miles on Rotella without engine repairs? None.
I don’t have flex fuel near me🥲
