Nobody asked for it, but I'm kinda stuck in Ironsworn. I was a king's (or jarl's) guard, and showed up for my shift to find everyone in the throne room dead, except for a boy who ran off with the crown. I chased the boy, but he managed to get away... He gave the crown to a man in a carriage. I went back to the throne room to look for clues, and was attacked by the (now un)dead guards, which were being controlled by the Skald/king's advisor. He to managed to escape. I've had dreams make more sense. I'm not sure which way to go in the world/story. Who's the boy? Wvu did he take the crown and give it to someone waiting? Why did the Skald raise the dead to stay me, and get away? Actually, typing this out... What if he was helping me? And ran because I attacked him... Hummmm... I need to find my character sheet and notes.

"Plot ARMOR" is a roleplaying game in which you play the PROTAGONIST of a mecha-anime. "The Artefact" is a story game for one player, designed for contemplative solo play. "Stranded" is a solo RPG about wilderness survival in an isolated and hopeless scenario. and i have to mention: "The Quiet Year" is a map game. You define the struggles of a community living after the collapse of civilization, and attempt to build something good within their quiet year." which is a really good solo game.
Candy land the dark saga would be a great game. The gumdrop hord comming to inslave the jellybeans was a really good campaign to run. Expecally when the lickrish dragon's loot gave me a +2 sweet and saltie stick. Very op.
The only Solo games I have played are the D&D board games , but the harder adventures really need more than one player ( I guess you could play several characters though). Last month my sister and her family came for a visit and my nephew (8) and my niece (5) were entranced with all my miniatures and of course wanted to play castle Ravenloft as soon as they saw it. They understood the rules no prob with little guidance , the only thing I changed was letting them swap out the original heroes for models they liked just using the original hero stats and ability cards ( lol which led to things like a golden guardian cleric, or a unicorn rouge LoL). We must have played 15 or more times during the 2days they visited . I realize all that is off topic a bit but I thought it was a wholesome story to tell.
I love the 'Adventurer' game! But instead of writing in a journal I do drawings or Paintings because I enjoy that more. I feel that it helps with art block and it can be fun ^~^
Hi, glad you enjoy playing the Adventurer. Doing pictures instead of writing journal entries is a great idea! I would love to see some if you have them online somewhere as I’m always interested to see what people are doing with my little game. Thanks.
@@jameschip22 Dear James. I heard you dabbled in some other creative hobbies before you got into making games. Legend has it you were on the case with the phat beats bass and have a memorable face. Additionally, rumour has it you actually auditioned for the part of Dr. Alan Grant in the original Jurassic Park film. Is there any truth in this? I would also like to congratulate you on creating a game that seems to be gaining popularity. Good work! All the best, Sir Oily Grillies
I've been playing a lot of Thousand-Year-Old-Vampire lately, and having great fun with it. As a bonus, the journal it generates can serve double-duty as a backstory or prop in a tabletop RPG. I've used it to take deep-dives into the heads of some of the Vamps and Renfield's of my Night's Black Agents campaign.
I literally searched for solo RPGs yesterday and couldnt find anything, you and your channel are pure gold. Im hoping that more people will get to know you
Thank you so much. As someone who exclusively tries to play solo games (not many RPG players in my country), I was always looking for something like Mythic. Thats an instant buy for me now.
There is a solo adventure in the Call of Cthulhu Starter Set, it is written to teach a player how the game works. It is still pretty fun, even if it is more of a 'choose your own adventure' type of scenario.
I think you are speaking of Alone Against the Flame. Chaosium has also put out other solo adventures titled Alone Against the Dark and Alone Against the Frost.
Going to check out the Adventurer. Sounds cool. The best solo RPG experience I've had is with a game called Ex Novo, which allows you to design and chronicle the rise and potential fall of a city/nation. I've used it to develop towns in my group sessions and it often adds some decent depth to what might otherwise be hand-wave generic towns the group travels through.
I feel like having the same card represent the same problem all the time in the Wretched could actually add in some real roleplay to it. After all, when, say, your car's brake pads get worn out, you replace them. If they're worn out the next time you take the car to the mechanic, you start looking into the rest of the braking system, because brake pads should not be wearing out that fast. I'm envisioning a version of this game where you regularly draw the same card and the journal devolving into increasing levels of frustration as your character tries in vain to figure out what is wrong with the life support system that's causing this one component to fail day after day, until finally, they just give up and let the alien in to make it a quick death.
Ironsworn is probably the best solo rpg in terms of mechanics. But if you happen to dig Mork Borg, there’s a really great solo version called Solitary Defilement that draws its inspiration from Ironsworn but within the MB setting.
A few months before the whole pandemic thing happened I was in a bookstore looking for a gift for a friend. I noticed that they had re-printed some of the old "Fighting Fantasy" books and immediately picked up quite a few of them. Some for my friend... and some for myself. He grew up in the '90s, basically right after the gamebook craze had mostly died out so hadn't gotten to experience it back in the day.
The greatest thing about the Mystic GME is all the well written advice in the text. I consider it essential reading for any solo gamer. It is much deeper that just the Fate Chart.
The Choose Your Own Adventure box you showed is awesome! The ending is a real rollercoaster. I played it with a couple gaming buddies between D&D campaigns.
I wouldn't even have thought your words the dirty way at any point, but you really made sure I did. I've never heard about any of these, nice little introduction! 8:55 Card shuffling sounds really nice, a little bit of ASMR action.
The call of Cthulhu alone against series sounds like a good deal for you if you havnt heard about them yet, they are essentially choose your own adventure books, with skill checks based off a character you make and based off the CoC table top rule set, they are pretty sweet
I expected this to be another video on Ironsworn and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't. I checked out The Adventurer last night and spent about 2 1/2 hours writing a story. Thank you for sharing!
Just found your channel today, your voice acting tips video was on my recommended. I love your presentation and you give the topics a very thorough coverage at that. In addition, your sense of humor is right up my alley. New subscriber here.
I converted my Jenga tower into a dice tower ! Well done. I'd like to add a few : 1.Four Against Darkness series. It's a hybrid board game Classic RPG lite game. - it's dungeon crawling fun and lots of fan made extras. 2. Scarlet Heroes a solo RPG DM and one player or Solitaire Old School RPG with built in GM Emulator and tons of random tables. - it's really cool and everything in one package ( book). There's quite a bit more but I thought that these two should be on the list.
I did come across a game called Hex which describes itself as a "1 page solitaire RPG". It's basic mechanic is die rolling and all you need is a printed out copy of the game/page and a hand-full of six- sided dice.
I'm having a good time using the tools of wilderness solo play from Scarlet Heroes, mixed with the fate chart from Mythic GME and the UNE NPC generator. I used this setup with various flavors of old school D&D. Like many DMs, I'm turning to this format to try all the rulesets standing in my shelf as I can.
Great video! As far as full-on board games go I would recommend Arkham Horror LCG or Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective. Also there's a lot of solo print and play games (they're free) available in BGG. From the ones I tried, I can recommend Utopia Engine (and it's sequel that I can't remember the name right now) and 1572: The Lost Expedition.
Not to nitpick but the mythic gm emulator is way more than a yes or no matrix machine. Not a solo RPGs I was thinking about, I have been struggle what catches my interest what I write, I keep having good ideas but once I write it I lost interest I like morbid things (Of crouse I like happy things) But I like morbid things. I like sexual content if you are creating an Nsfw Choose Your Own Path or Solo Rpgs there are books are like they are fun to read but they are lousy how they've been written. quite boring on Amazon. There's aren't many Morbid and Sexual choose your own path and solo rpg out there since adults content is shun in the USA. It's easy for me to create a story for adults for enighteen and over. I like fantasy and I would write anything I have no boundires, I am one those writers. It doesn't mean I will write books for kids or teens is just I pefer books choose your own path/solo rpgs for grown ups since you can push boundires. I wonder would choose your own path and solo rpg for eighteen plus would work. For adults. The book age rating is confusing as heck even though I know it. So I will find my passion what to write wish me luck.

I like the old Lone Wolf Adventure Game by Joe Dever. It was like Choose Your Own Adventure but there was combat. You also had a character sheet. There's also Deadlands The Weird West The Crater Lake Chronicles by Savage Worlds. The Call of Cthulhu Alone Against ... series by Chaosium is good too.

Ace of heart - Revive and fight a Monster
Ace of Club - Shuffle adventure deck
Ace of Diamond - Lose highest Diamond
I made it up for single player but all you have to do is give a heart card to any other players and each take turns on the adventure...4 is probly the max to still be fun
Might look like too much but its not...I play this every time I'm on break at my work because is fast and easy with no space it takes up
This video is great!
The game I am looking forward to is called Artifact
No Tunnels and Trolls? The OG game that practically INVENTED solo RPGing? Shame on you!

"Do you like playing with yourself?" Bro, bad wording
Totes the point

This pandemic is priceless. I hate people. All of a sudden the world is the way i always wanted. Solo rpgs...yes please!!!
Before anyone gets too excited, i hope it is obvious how hyperbolic this statement is.

By myself, with myself, don't tell me how to live my life.

I love the "Alone Against..." series in Call Of Cthulhu.
1000 year old Vampire
The humor and imformation was solid. Folks arent here for your opinion on masks though. Stay on topic.
Hhhahahaha "with"
Not a solo RPGs I was thinking about, I have been struggle what catches my interest what I write, I keep having good ideas but once I write it I lost interest I like morbid things (Of crouse I like happy things) But I like morbid things.
😂
You are two months late...
Playing by yourself... Don't you guys feel even more miserable sitting in the corner and imaginig your journeys all by yourself. I am saying because I am trying to quit living my life in my dreams lifestyle...
I'm into solo games all year long and November is #SGAM (solo gamer appreciation month.) So having the tools and knowing what's possible is always good.
